Not to mention boxing teaches you to only protect the upper part of your body, since anything below the waist is an illegal hit. Its simply not a practical fighting style. If you knew anything about boxing you'd know that was wrong. @Omagakitty: That's actually a good point but I still think Ali was just that little bit more EPIC. I'll watch some more of his movies and see if I change my mind. Just set the record straight, I'm not denying Bruce Lee's awesomeness, I'm pointing out my personal preference. Prada
Bruce Lee was ok but i still like Arnold Swarchenegger over all I read that and was liek "OMGWTF!?" Also' date=' the bit about Bruce moving so fast that the films couldn't catch it, that's bull. It appears I'm not welcome' date=' none of you respect Ali in the way you should.[/quote'] Fact numbah one - Thread is not about Ali.Fact numbah two - People in this thread probably respect Ali, they're just proving you wrong and know that this thread is about BRUCE LEE.Fact numbah three - I live in Ali's hometown, watched his a lot of his fights, and find him to be a serious BOSS. Don't say I don't respect Ali the way I should. >.> Mia, you have to be mah newest bestest friend on teh 4umz. Bruce Lee was, in fact, a total BOSS. It only teaches you to protect your upper body. In fact, in a real fight, knowing how to box would probably be a detriment, as you would instinctively only protect your upper side, leaving such things as your kneecaps, spleen, kidneys, and liver open for attack. Which wouldn't be fun. All martial arts teach essentially the same thing, only they also teach you how to protect the rest of your body and fight dirty. Felix
In fairness, I don't think anybody is going to dispute Brucey would've powned Ali in an actual fight. However, the reason I like Ali more than Bruce Lee is the person himself, the fact he was the top of the food chain at the sport he dedicated him self to AND that as a person he was also extremely epic. Saying that boxing isn't a fighting style is kind of stupid though; it is it's just not (as you say) a very practical one. Originally it was probably a fight with rules to settle a dispute. koramore
Bruce Lee is one of the best martial artists in the world he inspired MMA in a way. If you watch the first part of Enter The Dragon then you can see an armbar and submission he used. He also influenced western style kung fu movies. His skill and philosophies are too be cherished.
