YCM Casual Card Designs Rules << UPDATED: 9/3/2018 >>

Recommended Posts

The following rules apply to Casual Singles, Multiples and Experimental Cards. (Workshopping has a slightly different rulebook)

Please read these before posting in the section.

[spoiler=Rulebook]
1. Overall rules apply

This should be self-explanatory; any general site rules such as behavioral standards and so forth will apply in addition to the section specifics listed underneath. You may reference the rulebook as a forum-wide announcement at the top of the section or here.

If one of us gives you a command (either to fix the main post with appropriate changes, correct the images, card name, etc.), you are expected to comply. Insubordination will be penalized accordingly.

2. Cards you make in this section are (generally) free design.

Even with the design standards off (meaning you can make cards that are technically free-for-all by nature), you are still forbidden from posting any cards that reference the following:

  • Adult material (i.e. porn, explicit content)
    • Any pictures used must be no higher than PG-17 or not toeing the line into adult. If you are iffy about a picture being acceptable or not, please take it up with me over PM.
  • Explicit language in the card name.
    • Seriously, don't make a card with the f-bomb or coarse language in its name.
    • You will be asked to change the name if it is deemed inappropriate; failure to comply will result in warn increases.
  • Discrimination against a certain nationality, religion, fandom, sexuality, etc.
    • This also includes making a card to implicitly flame/harass another user on this site.
    • Meme cards are fine, but using them to discriminate against a certain group is not okay.

Breaking this rule will result in severe punishments, ranging from potential loss of posting privileges up to temporary/permanent ban. The first one will ALWAYS be penalized with a permaban, so don't post adult content. These are already covered in the general rules.

3. All threads are subject to commenting.

By posting your cards in the section, you are permitting other users to comment on them as necessary. This also includes giving "critique" (or things that you should fix with your cards).

Even if you do not agree with the comments people give, you are expected to respect them and be grateful that they took the time to look at your work. Either thank them in the thread, or just like their post. Please remember that members are under no obligation to actually look at your threads, so...be grateful.

4. Posting standards

While there is no Advanced Clause that prescribes posting standards in this section, any replies must be relevant to the card(s) in question and not random posts that are irrelevant. Even saying "good job 10/10" is fine. Memes and reaction posts are okay IF/ONLY IF they are relevant to the card itself; don't post them for the hell of it.

I cannot forbid the use of Advanced-level critique in this section, however you must keep this to a minimum. Most of the members who come in here likely do not have a working knowledge of the existing game and/or are just here to post their stuff; not worry about if some meta combo is breaking their stuff or their design is iffy.

You may reference the meta or design, but do not go all the way.

===
This goes without saying, but you must be respectful towards other users in the thread (including the staff members if we come in here to break up arguments that arise). Don't act like a jackass or you will be punished severely.

5. Default formats for CC.

The standard for all of Custom Cards (including here) is Master Rule 4 with a TCG hybrid list (current TCG list with relevant OCG additions as necessary). Due to the changes made in VRAINS with regards to the playing field and other mechanics (and to accommodate all users), CC caters to two separate formats.
They are defined as thus.

STANDARD: VRAINS mechanics. Separate monster zones for Extra Deck monsters, Pendulum Zones moved to the S/T area, Link format.

LEGACY: ARC-V mechanics (Master Rule 3). Defined as no segregated monster zones for monsters summoned from the Extra Deck, Pendulums have their own areas on the side between Monster / Spell & Trap Cards. Cyberse are allowed under this banner if they don't mention things mentioned in MR4.
======
If you are designing cards for the Legacy format, you NEED to tag your threads (either as a thread tag or noted in the title).

There will be no penalty if you don't tag your thread, however it means that your cards will be graded on how they interact in the VRAINS environment (which may differ dramatically from how they'd do in the ARC-V generation). If you wish to have your card graded for both formats, make sure you mention this in the main post.

Please respect the format tags and grade the works accordingly. This means don’t talk about Link design in a legacy thread, keep discussion relevant to the TCG unless the thread creator wishes for comments on both formats, etc.

6. Do not post your cards in another user's thread.

If you want your cards to be seen, make your own thread for it. Please do not post them in another user's thread.

The exception to this is if you are in a collaboration project. Make sure that we know who's involved with the project so we don't accidentally warn you. If you wish to collaborate with another user, contact them via PM or elsewhere (do not ask them in the thread, nor should you badger them repeatedly).

You may post an existing card for comparative purposes, but only if you comment properly.

7. Threads with 2 or more cards are to be posted in the Multiples section.

The main forum (where you are reading this thread in) is for singular cards. If your thread contains more than 1 card, then it needs to be posted in the Multiples section. This is to make it easier for you to locate your cards as opposed to lumping everything into one forum (singles and multiples combined).

A single Ritual Monster and its corresponding Ritual Spell are considered to be 1 card, and may be posted in the main forum.

8. Cards and reviews are to be posted in ENGLISH.

As YCM is an English-speaking forum, all members are required to write in English. Do NOT assume that members know your native language or are fluent in it otherwise.

Posting your cards in your native language is fine, but you must provide an adequate English translation for other members. The same rule applies for reviewers who are sufficient in the user's language, and wish to respond. Posting a translation from Google Translate or another translation site will suffice most of the time. Otherwise, try your best to write English and we'll help you correct the card grammar and other spelling/grammatical mistakes if needed.

9. Card posting etiquette.

All members who post their cards as pictures will be required to post their card's information beneath their cards, regardless if they can read off the image or not. We have members who access this site off of a mobile device / a small screen and/or have visual problems that prevent them from reading directly off the card, or cannot view the images due to Imgur/whatever image host being blocked in certain countries or institutions.

Do not assume that members will be able to read off the pictures without difficulty.

Additionally, if images don't work on YCM (which happens), the written cards will give us something to grade. There is a template in the FAQ thread that you can use.

If you use TCGEditor to create your cards, please resize them to 50-60% and/or keep them in spoiler tags. If your post has 10 or more cards, then you need to spoiler tag them so they don’t lag the page.

Please avoid posting cards without pictures (i.e. blank image).

10. All cards related to a custom Archetype or that rely on each other must be in one thread.

You must keep ALL cards linked to a custom Archetype / cards that rely on each other in one thread in the opening post, or link to them if you have posted some members earlier on this forum. Ideally, you should post all of them at once, or just release whatever you have at the time and add on as you go.

If you need to use subsequent posts due to space/formatting concerns, then link to them as you do and note that in the original post. However, I do not foresee this to occur, unless you make an extremely large set or are doing a group collaboration.

If other cases arise, such as overflow or thread glitching, you may split things into multiple threads while linking to them. Talk it over with me before you do this.

11. The following threads will be locked on sight.

  • Cardless threads
  • Cards copy/pasted without changes
  • Cards not of the thread creator.
  • Threads where the discussion has derailed for various reasons.

1. If you do not have at least 1 card for us to look at and grade, then thread gets locked. This is also the reason why you need to have the written info beneath; if the picture goes away, then we at least have the written data to work from. This also includes threads that simply say "post your cards here".

2. Refer to the FAQ thread in terms of what you are permitted to post here. You are allowed to remake any existing card from the actual game or from anime/manga only, however you must make noticeable changes to it. Blatantly copy/pasting without any changes will result in a thread lock.

3. Posting other member’s cards that you did not make will result in a thread lock (and a warning for ripping), unless under extreme circumstances, which can be worked out with a moderator. Such circumstances may include posting cards for another person who is currently ineligible for their own account or cannot post them at the present time.

Bring up your situation to me via PM and we'll sort it out.
Collaboration cards may be posted by any member in the project, provided we know who is involved. We do not need to know who made each card.

4. Do not act like a little kid and bash users for giving you critique, and not a simple "good job" or something. If I catch you being disrespectful to other users who gave you appropriate comments, thread gets locked and you will be punished.

Same goes if the thread starts devolving into pointless discussions and off-topic tangents.

12. Bumping

STANDARD

Thread creators are allowed to bump their thread if 6 or more hours have elapsed since the last post (given the section's activity). If you’re off by 10-15 minutes, I will let it slide; otherwise, you will be penalized for early bumping. Just be patient and wait for the time to come around.

Ideally, you should only bump the thread if/only if you have made some form of update since your last post.

CUTOFF FOR DEAD THREADS

There are two conditions for determining if a thread is dead or not; depending if the member in question is the one who created the thread in the first place or not.

Condition 1 (Normal): If a thread has no replies for 30 or more days, it is considered to be dead and SHOULD NOT be posted in.

Threads posted in after this period will be considered as necrobumped and will be locked on-sight; either with a verbal note or none at all.

Condition 2 (Thread creator): If bumping your own thread, you are allowed to do it up to 90 days from the last post date, however you are REQUIRED to have updated the thread somewhat (either you added some cards, fixed up effects and so forth); otherwise, condition 1 applies.

You will need to mention what changes you have made.

Exceptions can be made due to a user's circumstances at the time when the bump period expires (i.e. power outage, on a trip, lack of internet, etc). Just let me know about these cases, and the standard period can be waived or extension granted.

MULTIPLE POSTING

This refers to the act of posting multiple times in a row within the same thread. If you must announce multiple updates within the 8 hour period, just edit your last post or make the changes and do not update that.

The same applies for responding to multiple people; use the Multi-Quote button if you need to do this. Either that, or just wait patiently. (See STANDARD)

13. Using the Report Button

If you spot any rule breaks in this section, either use the Report button at the bottom left of posts and/or PM me about the issue; either method works. Don't post in the thread to tell the user they broke a rule; otherwise it will be considered as spamming/mini-moderating and warned accordingly.

If you are unsure about whether a thread/post should be reported, do so anyway. You won't be penalized for misreporting a thread/post that is actually fine. I can't be here 24/7, so you being an extra set of eyes is always appreciated.
[/spoiler]

[spoiler=Warning System]
General spamming

Self-explanatory; shitposting, general spam, etc.

1st offense: Verbal warning.
2nd offense: 2-3 WP
3rd offense: 4-5 WP

Plagiarism

Content ripping, copy/paste from Wikia without changes.

1st offense: Verbal warning / topic lock
2nd offense: 2 WP
3rd offense: 4 WP
4th/subsequent: 6-7 WP

Ripping off another member's work will get the higher values, in line with Showcase ripping policies. Like in academics, plagiarized content will be taken seriously.

Early bumping / multiple posting (more than 1 post in a row within time period) *, necrobumping

1st offense: Verbal warning (likely PM, but in-thread reprimands are also option)
2nd offense: 1 WP
3rd offense: 2 WP

In terms of multiple posting (marked with asterisk), I will excuse it if YCM is being shitty with the editor or you need to reserve multiple posts for a large set (which I do not advise except for group projects). It is your responsibility to let me know of your circumstance.

This section is minor compared to the others (and I hope I don't have to warn you more than 3 times).

Member misconduct

Boils down to being antagonistic towards other members (including staff) and engaging in flaming/trolling/harassment of other users.

1st offense: 4 WP
2nd offense: 7 WP (results in 3 day lock of post/status privileges)
3rd and subsequent offenses: 7 day ban; also possible section ban from Custom Cards for a given period of time.

Offenses in this category will have their warnings expire no earlier than 2 weeks, given their nature. General insubordination (i.e. backtalk) shall be penalized 2 WP for each infraction (which expires in 1 week) and will increase in severity each time.

Inappropriate content

Adult content: Permanent / IP ban.
Borderline content: Verbal warning to modify the image or find an alternative. Continuing to use inappropriate images after being told not to will result in WP; depending on level of sexuality / graphic-ness.
Offensive names: Depends on severity, but will range from verbal warning to change the name up to temporary ban for racial/discriminatory names. This shall be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.

Card information under image

At a bare minimum, you must post the card's effects underneath the card. Never expect that members are capable of reading directly off the picture if you use one.

1st warning: Verbal 24-hour fix warning to add content.
2nd warning: 2 WP
3rd warning: 4 WP
4th/subsequent: 7 WP (which still triggers the post lock)

In cases where the text is still readable, this will usually result in 1 verbal warning to fix it within 24 hours. After that, it'll result in up to 2 WP per offense; depending on how things work out.

Within this particular section, I shouldn't need to enforce this one much, if at all, but please be considerate to other members if they can't see/read your card with the same ease as you can. You don't need text underneath for Normal Monsters.
[/spoiler]

If you have any questions or concerns about the rules, please ask in the FAQ thread or PM me directly.

Because a few of you have asked about the Advanced Clause application in Casual, I'll go ahead and clarify it for everyone.

You're not expected to know about the metagame while reviewing a card; nor do you need to reference any existing cards in the game.

However, you do need to mention something related to its overall design as a whole at the bare minimum in 1-2 proper sentences.

OCG fixes still will not count towards a proper review.

Now, if you wish to still use RC (Advanced) standards while reviewing a card; you're certainly welcome to do that.

To be honest, many of us have used the RC model for quite a while, that it does prove difficult to grade a card without having to reference existing things in the metagame and some other stuff.

Effective January 2nd, 2015, you are allowed to post DIVINE and Divine-Beast/Creator God monsters in the standard Casual sections.

Basically, there really is no point in confining them into Experimental, assuming you've designed them properly and adhere to general cardmaking rules.

However, we'd advise against designing DIVINE cards unless it's absolutely necessary to do it.

If you're designing a card after an actual deity, then yeah it's fine (though you can make do with the regular Types/Attributes, and still display their powers accurately).

Don't just slap DIVINE on any old card you want; it doesn't work that way. Actually think it through.

---

Fake Types and other things like new summon concepts are still to be left in Experimental for the time being.

Speed Spells / Dark Synchros or whatever is anime/manga exclusive right now is still in limbo, but keep them in Experimental also, while we have CC mod discussions about it.

Effective 1/10/2015, you are allowed to post 2 Pendulum Monsters in the Singles section.
However, they must abide by the following condition.

"Both Pendulum Monsters must be capable of/intended to work with one another."

Basically they should be Archetype-supportive and/or reflect each other in their effects. For reference, use Sarenshinchū and Urenjinchū (Yousenjū) and Yuya's Magicians.

If they don't support each other, then they will be moved to Multiples.

This also goes for if you post a 3rd Pendulum Monster in the same thread; regardless if it is intended to work in conjunction with the previous two or not.

Anyway, ask one of us if you need clarification on this.

Have fun with it :)

With the advent of Xyz Pendulums on the horizon, I suppose it's a good enough time to announce how things are going to run regarding them.

Effective 3/9/2015, you are allowed to make Xyz Pendulums in this section, but the following condition will be in place.

"Until an official ruling is given from Konami, just assume that Xyz Pendulums can be re-summoned IF/ONLY if they were properly summoned first and sent back to the Extra Deck face-up.

By extension, Ranks will be treated as Levels for Main Deck monsters; so assuming the Rank/Level falls within the scales, they will obey any existing rules that were established for the normal ones.

In terms of Xyz Materials, assume that if the monster moves to the Pendulum Zone, their materials DO NOT carry over."

(Synchro/Fusion/Ritual Pendulums are also welcome in this section [the main area of Casual]; and should obey standard rules for regular Pendulums; no ruling here).

Don't post them in Advanced, until Konami confirms their existence.

---

As usual, PM if you have any concerns over the matter.

Indeed, there is a lack of information regarding Xyz Pendulums, so we need to fill in the blanks for now until things are cleared up.

A few changes to the rulebook; most of them are relatively small changes.

1. There is a separate note about Multiple Cards and what goes into them. Regardless of if your cards have a common theme or random stuff, if you have 2+ cards; they go into Multiples.

However, the exception to this rule is of course, the twinned Pendulums and a Ritual Monster/corresponding Spell Card (assuming you only have one set of those).

(It helps if your cards are related somehow, but if you have a ton of random cards; just post them in a single thread in Multiples. It makes it easier to find stuff, and doesn't end up flooding the section)

It was supposed to be common knowledge, but hopefully this clears things up.

2. I have lowered the bump rule to 12 hours, as opposed to the standard 24.

Indeed, CC has gotten dead as of late and this has been done to try increasing the activity in the area.

Remember guys, 12 hours means 12 hours; don't bump it any earlier than that.

We'd all like comments on our cards, but just be patient.

3. Also as a reminder, please keep your updates in the main post unless you cannot update it for some reason (either that you have too many cards or some other forum bug).

That, and actually post the cards here; not as a link to an image gallery elsewhere.

Added Basic Rule 20, regarding the usage of artwork.

In short form, make sure that you give attribution to where your card's images are found.

You can just post something like "IMG credit: (link/author name)" and that's sufficient.

However, please make sure that you are allowed to use images; especially if they come from deviantArt.

Some artwork is commissioned, and isn't for public usage.

If we get an artist complaint, then you'll be asked to either change the pictures in question, add accreditation or remove the cards in their entirety.

------------

Artists, if you would like to file a complaint about your artwork being used without permission/attribution, PM one of the Custom Card moderators; preferably to either myself or Koko (ココ).

When you do, make sure you provide the following.

  • Verification that you are indeed the creator of said artwork, or are authorized to act on behalf of said artist.
  • Links to the artwork(s) in question.
  • Cards in question that use the artwork(s).
  • A statement if the user in question was given authorization to use said artworks.
  • Concluding statement that the above facts are indeed true.

Do not post in the user's thread, especially if it is past the two week mark; otherwise you will be subjected to any penalties listed forth in the main post if circumstances warrant them.

Just PM a moderator about it, and leave it at that.

Do not take matters into your own hands.

Much like the Advanced version of this rulebook, this section's code of conduct has also been updated.

Please make sure all of you read the new rules and understand them, especially the Advanced Clause, which has been updated.

(The rules on the Advanced Clause are the same in both here and Advanced)

Another thing to mention is that all critique in this section is to be directed towards general design of the card itself. You may still reference existing cards in interactions, but consider broader approaches. For instance, if a member designs stuff for an existing Archetype, it DOES NOT have to go with the common standard of the Deck in the competitive world (although there should still be some thought behind it). Casual Cards is intended for GENERAL DESIGN; if you want to bring up the metagame, do so in Advanced.

-------------

As usual, please PM one of us if you have questions/concerns about the new rules.

I'm not going to repeat (entirely) what I said in Advanced, but there are some things to be aware of for Casual.

Having the card's stats and effects printed beneath card: In the past, this was mandatory if the card was hard to read, but now it will be for all cards that use a picture from the card maker, TCGEditor or whatever template you have.

Most of you already provided this, so you shouldn't be affected too much by the change. If you already do Written Cards, you're fine.

(This makes it easier to do text fixes if necessary as well as giving members something to grade, should something happen to your pictures)\

Permissible images: This is tied into the general forum-wide policy of what constitutes as acceptable. Images that are overly sexual/risque or graphic are forbidden to be used as card images. You can use the OCG's style of artwork as a guideline, but if you are in doubt, PM the images so we can look them over.

(For the record, whatever ruling Black gave as a whole a few months ago holds; exercise your best judgment and ask if you are unsure.)

[Clause about design notes does not apply here.]

====

With regards to Link Monsters, you are allowed to post them in the main section (if they are Normal/Effect Link Monsters), but you can use Experimental for them as well until more definitive rulings are given. Stuff like Pendulum Links should be posted in Experimental.

(This applies to any new concept that Konami throws out in the foreseeable future)

====

There will be a community thing to talk about what should be done with CC now that the rules have been changed dramatically, and a lot of stuff has been rendered ineffective.

As usual, if you have any questions/comments/concerns about anything in the rulebook or CC policies in general, please feel free to ask for clarification.

https://forum.yugiohcardmaker.net/topic/362392-cc-news-upcoming-changes-to-custom-cards/

(I'll just shorthand whatever I said in Advanced, and remove stuff that isn't relevant to Casual)

Dual format / tagging

Because of the new changes brought on by VRAINS, there will be a dual format in Custom Cards from here on out: Legacy and Standard. As such, you will need to tag your threads for the appropriate format. For those who did not read the linked thread, Legacy and Standard are defined as thus:

  • Legacy: Cards built to function using the ARC-V mechanics (Extra Deck monsters are not forced into a separate zone, Pendulums are still separate from S/T, Link Monsters/Markers/Numbers do not exist).
    • Cyverse-Type monsters will be permitted, as they currently are not intertwined with Link Monsters.
      • This means you may make Cyverse Ritual/Fusion/Synchro/Xyz/Pendulum monsters as you so choose, provided they obey the mechanics for ARC-V.
    • Cards that are released from SD2017 and onward and do not have interactions with Links / Main Monster Zone / Extra Monster Zone are also permitted in this format. (This also includes the legacy ARC-V support coming out in Code of the Duelist)
  • Standard: Cards that function in the official field setup as of 3/25/2017 in OCG.
    • This includes: Link Monsters, the segregated monster zones and moving of the Pendulum Zones to the S/T area.

As mentioned in the new rule, there will be no penalty if you forget to tag your thread, but your stuff will be graded under the VRAINS mechanics, which may have a much different effect than what the ARC-V mechanics will do with them. (LEGACY and STANDARD tags exist for both sections). Threads made before the change do not have to be tagged, but it is advised you do.

You may find this as rule 19.

====

Other things that need to be noted:

Member reviews: If you review a user's thread, you are under no obligation to actually suggest fixes for them to make; you are still bound by the Advanced Clause, but that's it. If you wish to give help, then that's fine. For thread creators, DO NOT solicit the reviewer for what you should fix; it is up to you to figure out what needs to be done. It is also in your best interest to take what other members tell you into consideration; you may not agree with their approach, but be willing to compromise if needed.

Bumping: While the minimum period required for bumping your own thread (if no one else has replied) is still 12+ hours, it is advised that you bump it IF and ONLY IF you have made an update; especially for set threads. If you make changes before the 12 hour period is up, just modify the main thread and THEN announce the changes later (or modify your last post with the changes).

If you've noticed, Multiples tends not to be terribly active, so your stuff will still remain on page 1 after a day or so in most cases.

===

Just so we're clear though, the rules in this thread have always referred to Casual Cards and the subsections; I used the Advanced rules as a guide, but forgot to correct the copy/paste for the last update.

If there are any questions/concerns about the changes, please feel free to PM me.

Yeah, it's time for the rulebook to be updated.

So...what are the differences from the March 29th version and the new ones in effect as of right now?

Outside lowering the Advanced Clause requirement word / content-wise and some shifting of rules, not too much. However, the changes are technically patterned on what you guys suggested in that thread and what I'd said I'd do / compromise on.

(The one pertaining to OCG fixes got removed, but it should already be covered in the Advanced Clause.)

Sakura, the rulebook is still too big! It scares newbies!

I already told you guys that although I'd try my best to trim stuff down, a lot of it has to be mentioned in order to avoid any potential loopholes in the book that can be exploited. Also some things that are specific to Custom Cards and not already noted in the general rulebook.

Therefore, the rulebook will inevitably remain large, even if it is cut down to 16 rules and opposed to 20.

The Advanced Clause still exists! Why?

Casual Cards still needs post quality, and while it isn't design oriented like before, it exists so there's no shitposting in this section.

You guys are capable of writing 1 complete sentence (or the equivalent of it thereof), right? Within this one sentence, you can give a rating or a brief description of what you think they did well / could improve on. And you don't have to reference existing cards and stuff.

This limit will hold for both areas; Singles/Multiples require at least 15 words. (I may raise the Multiple one to 30 if needed to be uniform, but this will be determined later upon evaluation of how the new one holds up.)

=====

Bolded are the general idea of the rule in question, and below is just cliffnotes of what any changes are. (Though, it's really advised you actually look over the main post for the detailed explanation.)

[spoiler=yeah right, this is still a textwall]

1. Standard site rules need to be followed.

Self-explanatory, right?

2. Cards need to be designed properly, or otherwise not INTENTIONALLY designed to be busted.

Just make it obvious that you did put in the thought process and not make the card poorly designed that even a newer member can tell you didn't put in the effort.

To be frank, Casual didn't require you to know the metagame to post in here, though the original description implied that you had to know card design to an extent. We just asked that you think designs through and all, and not make something busted.

====

INTENTIONALLY is mentioned to account for newer members being unaware of potential interactions with Konami's stuff and recent ban lists.

====

3. Threads being subject to comments/critique

This wasn't changed too much, except a note to members to be grateful for others giving you comments/critique and actually listen; not ignore them or throw a fit about them supposedly picking on you. Remember that members aren't obliged to give critique and if you don't show that you're open to comments/criticism, then very few (if any) will comment on your work.

Obviously for reviewers, just be friendly when you review/comment and don't throw the metagame book at members.

(As much as I'd like to account for the handful of you who are only looking for compliments and not critique, I cannot do this without adding on more specifications. You will get a mixture of compliment and critique posts, but it is ultimately your responsibility to accept all of them maturely.)

4. Formatting

I merged rule 5 into here, which was just noting the tagging system used for all of CC in light of Master Rule 4 dramatically changing stuff.

Standard for all of CC is Standard format (VRAINS) with TCG hybrid list, just for the record. If you wish to design for Legacy or for one particular format (TCG or OCG), you need to note this.

Other than that, nothing changed here.

5. Advanced Clause

(You were supposed to get rid of this, Sakura!)

As much as some of you wanted to get rid of this, I cannot remove it altogether as posting standards are still required. Custom Cards is not the status bar or Discord.

But yeah, the posting requirement is dropped to 15 words and not required to have anything pertaining to actual card design. You do however have to flesh out your comment post, but it can just be a general comment and stuff. Write complete sentences, alright?

(If you can write the equivalent of the parenthesized content here, you should be okay.)

Rest of the Advanced Clause thing is mostly the stuff that'll get marked as spam, such as solely OCG fixing posts, shortposting / treating the section like status bar and any off-topic discussions.

Obviously for reviewers, just be friendly when you review/comment and don't throw the metagame book at members.

6. What's permitted in the section

Fake Types / Attributes are now allowed in the main section, however this only applies to threads made from today onward.

Not being as stringent on the DIVINE / Divine-Beast or Creator God thing, nothing major has changed here. Though it is still recommended that you actually think it through and not toss either of them on for the hell of it. Anything you'd post in Advanced is also fair game.

Any new summon mechanics or early data on the inevitable "new ED mechanic per generation or update thereof" should be in Experimental, but I will issue a note on the latter when it emerges. I mention the latter as to avoid ruling conflicts until things are cleared up.

Original rule about card erratas being permitted was also shifted here.

7. Don't post your stuff in another user's thread.

Nothing changed here.

8. Threads with 2+ cards go to Multiples.

Nothing changed here, except removing the thing about paired Pendulums.

Ritual Monsters and their corresponding Ritual Spell count as one card, and can go into singles.

9. Cards/reviews need to be posted in English

Nothing much changed.

Posting in native language is okay, but because this site runs in English, you need to provide a translation for us.

10. Card posting etiquette

(You should've moved this one to that guide)

  • You need to provide your card's info underneath if you use pictures, so members can easily see what your card can do, even if it's visible off the card. Don't assume that members can read things off the pic without difficulty.
    • All this entails is mostly writing out the card name, Type, Attribute and so forth. You can just copy/paste the effects yourself. (No need for vanilla text)
  • If you got 10 or more cards, then you need to spoiler tag them. (Read this guide to understand the common BBCode for spoilers and stuff)
  • For TCGEditor, resize the pics to 50-60% so they don't cause page lag.
  • Picture-less cards are okay, but highly recommended you just write it out instead, as it's much less work to edit written cards.

11. Keep custom Archetype support in one thread

Nothing changed, but mostly, keep your stuff in one thread so we don't have to jump around the place for it. Of course, in very rare circumstances that your sets cannot fit in the thread anymore, you can make a second thread to deal with the overflow. Just make sure you let us know about that.

I don't think this will be an issue for the vast majority of you (unless for whatever reason, you make more than 200 cards or something in a thread).

12. Locking on sight thing.

Largely unchanged, save for rule reference numbers being changed.

Only difference here is basically updating the last condition (threads where creator shows no intent to improve OR accept comments). In a nutshell, you won't get punished for not taking critique (per say), but you will get a thread lock / potential punishments for behaving like a 5-year old and bashing people for critiquing.

13. Image policy

Unchanged for most part, and mostly in line with the general site standards on permissible content. Basically, you can use any picture that does not contain adult or explicit content like gore and sex.

If you have questions about a particular artwork, then you should PM me first before you use it. Better that you ask beforehand before you get warned for inappropriate content.

While I generally don't mind what images you used, provided they are kept to PG-17, another moderator (if I am not here to look at it) may be more conservative and request you change it. Though, I did leave a note for other moderators not to touch any image reports in CC except if the pic in question is legitimately adult material.

14. Card names

Unchanged.

Most this says is don't use profanity or racial slurs in card names; the latter will net you a severe punishment, which is either a harsh warn increase, suspension/temp ban or something else. So yeah, don't use the F-word in card names, and I did see someone do this in the past.

15. Bumping rules

Unchanged.

If no one replies to your thread right after you post it, then don't bump it up immediately. Like I noted for rule 3, members aren't required to give you critique [and especially not on sight] and we do have lives outside this site.

Someone will get to it, but not in the next 20 minutes after posting. (Maybe if we're online and free enough)

General notes on what constitutes necrobumping, and exceptions that can be made due to RL circumstances (which you need to notify me ahead of time of) or if it's only a day or so. After a certain point, you should just remake the thread.

16. Use the Report Button.

Self-explanatory and unchanged.

So yeah, if there are any questions or concerns, then please PM me.

Rules have been updated in light of the Casual / Free Card merger that has been discussed for the past week. Also check the FAQ thread for updated texts and stuff.

Other than the design requirements being dropped for Casual (no more having to abide by the 5000 ATK/DEF cap for original stats among other things), everything else is usually the same (but that's the common sense / specific things).

====

As usual, please ask me if there's something amiss with the rules that you would like addressed.

Added the warning system for this section, though given the nature of Casual Cards, I don't think I'll need to penalize anyone except for member misconduct or inappropriate content.

While I did base it off the Advanced version, the punishments associated with each are smaller (and again, will be eased / increased depending on circumstances).

====

That being said, do ask me if you have any questions about how this system works.

I haven't added new rules, but rather just the warn system so you have an idea of what you can be penalized for if something arises.
