Rowena is a name derived from the Rowan species of trees, which is also extremely present in a lot of european folklore. Consider it a pun if you will.

IF I MAY HAVE YOUR ATTENTION, PLEASE

 

As revealed in the season finale of RWBY Season 3, it turns out that silver-eyed Huntsmen and Huntresses have a powerful ability that is separate from their own Semblance. I won't spoil what exactly this ability is capable of for those of you who haven't watched the episode, but I will let you know that it's too potent an ability for a non-plot-relevant character to have... or so I feel, anyway. As such, from this point on, all applications for silver-eyed characters will be denied, unless I have given one direct permission to utilize such a character. I'll update the database accordingly momentarily.

Rohin's height has officially been stated as 6'5, although most people claim it's actually just 'Bigger than you', for it seems he towers over any others in the room. His weight seems to clock in somewhere around 215 pounds, although this is undetermined at moment. His skin is a dark tan, and his chest is marred by a massive scar extending from his right shoulder to his left hip. His hair is a dirty blond while his eyes are purple. His hands differ from a human's by ending in small and sharp claws.

He normally wears some sort of short sleeves shirt and jeans, both of which are pretty tattered due to his small selection of clothes he actually owes. He wears shoes in public, although any time he can get away with it, he goes barefoot. He has a long red jacket he wears on colder days, which is also a bit tattered. If caught in the wind, it seems to resemble dragon wings. 


[spoiler=Personality] Athough Rohin is rather intimidating to be around, due to his height and toothy grin, he is living proof you can't judge a book by its cover. Contrary to appearance, he has a big heart and seeks to defend people. This big heart and desire to protect others makes him a very loyal friend. To those he befriends, he will do anything for, without question. He is a man of few words, usually silently observing. However, he will defend his beliefs, and debates on them are the rare times he starts conversations with strangers.

Due to growing up isolated from the world for most of his life, he is very awkward around people, which accounts for his quietness. He is always afraid he will say the wrong thing, or just scare off people. On top of all of this, he is very gullible, easily believing the words anyone tells him. Being raised by blunt and honest people gave him the belief all people are equally honest.

 

He feels most at home at the battlefield, which is where he lets loose. Against Grimm, he charges head first, using all his power to pulverize them with his fists before finishing off bigger ones with his weapon. Against people though, he uses his weapon more, despite being worse with it.

He is very uncomfortable with using Scarlight Calamity, as it is not actually his weapon. It doesn't help that this was the weapon that gave him his chest scar, and being his father's weapon, not his own. However, he sees it as a unavoidable evil, as he actually did not make his own yet. Besides, he needs to return it to its rightful owner.


[spoiler=Biography]Rohin grew up in the mountains, as a middle child. He, like the rest of his family, was home schooled by his father, and due to the isolated nature, they had to rely on themselves to fend off wandering Grimm. From a young age his father trained him in the art of battle, though they never made a weapon due to limited resources. His father taught the children how to both use aura and their semblance which, unlike most, was hereditary. They were taught balance, because the side effects of the semblance could be mitigated with mediation and inner peace. Rohin had a hard time controlling his alternate personality, and so he refused to dive deeper into the powers his semblance provided. Still, even without these, they were able to survive against Grimm, mostly due to traps they had set up around the woods.

One day while he was out getting firewood, he heard a loud snapping, and lots of cries. He dropped the firewood and sprinted home, to find the horror of what it had become. There were Grimm tracks, multiple ones. What was worse, the house was a smoldering ruin. Before he could even react, he saw his father rise from the ashes. His normal blue eyes were gleaming a fire red. With little warning, he lashed out at his own son. Being a bit sluggish on the parry, he was too late to even raise his aura, the strike happened too fast. A bleeding scar was opened up in his chest.

His father continued the onslaught. Rohin was hardly able to keep up, barely deflecting vital strikes with his own fists, and failing to land a single hit. The struggle and distress only attracted more Grimm, which were effortlessly taken out by his father as he attacked. When a Death Stalker interrupted the fight, Rohin's father struck it over the head, splitting it in half before dropping his weapon, his back to Rohin.

"Weak. Much too weak. Come, challenge me when you are stronger...," his deep gravelly voice echoed through the woods before the man disappeared into the mountains. Rohin slowly recovered, using his shirt to wrap his wounds. He then grabbed Scarlight Calamity before venturing off the mountain. He needed to become stronger...

He traveled across Vale, taking odd jobs to fill his pockets with money and using all his spare time to train to become even stronger. One day, however, some of the White Fang decided to attempt to steal Dust from a shop he was working in. Using only his bare hands, Rohin managed to fight them off, gaining the attention of Mirage. He was quickly asked to enroll into Mirage Academy, where he learned new fighting styles he incorporated into his own. Much sooner than he expected though, he was transferred to Shade Academy, in order to 'protect him from the White Fang mass recruitment'. He took this all in stride, seeing this as an opportunity to become even stronger.

 

One day, he would save his father from his own madness...

Weapon Name: Scarlight Calamity

Scarlight Calamity is, in essence, a flamethrower chain sword, which has two forms, sword mode and flame whip mode. The sword's flames are powered by Dust, which can be placed in the clip in the handle. The two fingerholes are also a trigger to activate the flamethrower aspect of the weapon.

  • Sword Mode: The default form of Scarlight Calamity. It acts as a regular sword, although, the tip can open up and fire flames.
  • Whip Mode: The alternate form of Scarlight Calamity. The links unlock, extending as it does, and the links open up. Each section can fire off flames.

[spoiler=Semblance]Burning Soul Force!: Rohin can use this semblence to create flames that cover his body and simultaneously increases his strength. He can also launch fireballs from his hands when using this semblence. It is linked to both his emotions and his desire for victory. However, if he gets too angry, or wants victory at any costs, he can lose himself to nameless alternate persona that is full of bloodlust. A easy way to spot if he has lost himself is to see if his eyes have turned yellow.

Because of this alternate persona, he is hesitant to use his semblence too much.

  • He has a great sense of smell, and decent night vision. Not as good as other fauna, but better than a human.

Fay Reine is a very well-developed young woman from the forest town of Alberich nearby the Emerald Forest. She has a fair, round face, set with a pair of piercing Emerald Green eyes and a smile that warms even the coldest of hearts. All this is framed by her long blonde hair that reaches around the middle of her back, though she is not opposed to tying it into a ponytail for the sake of convenience. Her casual attire usually consists of comfort clothes such as baggy t-shirts and slacks when she's in the comfort of her home, though when going out she does enjoy wearing more flattering wear. However she is rare to be seen in anything that she'd feel trapped in. This much is extended into combat - as she rarely, if ever plans for a fight to go down, she doesn't precisely have a battle attire prepared, however she doesn't feel the need for one.

[spoiler=Personality:]If there are few words to describe Fay, the first to come to mind might be lovestruck. Fay has a notorious, almost predictable habit to fall in love on the fly. Ever since she was a little girl, she's not been able to truly control her affectionate nature and it goes wild when she sees a cute boy. She frequently crushes on hunks and thoroughly enjoys admiring a well-defined male figure. However it doesn't simply stop there - she can fall in love with guys from even the simplest of nice things, such as sharing some lunch. There was one occasion she fell head over heels for a guy who simply greeted her on the bus. However, naturally this comes with a significant drawback as her fickle and vulnerable heart is quite exposed to the manipulation of those she has fawned over, which as of yet hasn't happened however most certainly could lead to devastating heartbreak. She has never experienced true romance before, as she frequently dives from infatuation to infatuation, there having been yet one to maintain her attention for sufficiently long time.

 

It naturally goes hand in hand that she's quite the flirt, especially in the heat of battle. Very rarely one to wait for the other to make the first move, she's quite direct with what she wants. While on occasion intimidating, it certainly has its appeal - and she maintains that kind of drive throughout her life, ever a proactive opportunist who seizes every chance that comes before her to the full. Her team will certainly expect this from her as the leader of FARE. She is a source of motivation and a driver, and few things can derive her attention from a task that needs to be done - except hunks, that always works without fail - and when her mind is set to something, she will always see it done by one means or another. She might be a little bit bossy, though certainly not without a buffer in that she's quite a darling to friends. Frequently one to reward good work and one about good times, Fay would happily celebrate victories and goals with friends on her treat, though those close to her would know few things comfort her more than a nice time in a warm place with her best friends by her side.

[spoiler=Biography:]Born and raised in the hamlet of Alberich, Fay Reine was very much an average girl. Nothing exceptionally wild or erratic came up in her past. She grew up in the calm little village, and had quite a delightful childhood. She was brought up to respect nature and was quite fond of archery to this end, but didn't really take too much from this lesson. She was far more fascinated in the exciting life of hunters and huntresses, and aspired to be one. Fay was lucky that a scout for a combat school in Vale spotted her and her combat prowess, and her charming demeanour won her a place in the boarding school. While the time away from home left her feeling rather homesick, she did quite well for her part and brought everything that was expected of her to the table and more. So much so, her results landed her quite a comfortable place at Shade Academy.

 

One thing that was far too frequent in her life, however, was infectious infatuation. While her mother was a bit of her flirt in her day, Fay was on another level entirely. Almost every single day she would come home and talk about boys when she was younger, when she wasn't busy with other things to attend to. It didn't really help when she went to the combat school - all the new boys simply had her heart fluttering like wildfire. When she wasn't homesick she was certainly lovesick.

 

Another more unique thing about Fay is her pet. With her is a pet donkey that goes by the name of Nick, and she adores him to bits. Most people are quite perplexed as to why it was a donkey that she chose as her pet, but growing up in a farming hamlet has sense made of the whole thing. Nick is, like most donkeys, a stubborn jack, though the time the two have bonded over the time he first came to their farm. He's a bit old at 8 years old, with between 4 to 7 expected in him, which Fay spends treasuring the fellow. He's a sturdy mount for her and he's also incredibly playful which simply warms her heart.

 

Combat Information

Weapon Name: Cupid's Kiss

[spoiler=Weapon Description:]Melee State:

In their base state, Cupid's Kiss is a pair of Butterfly Swords, based upon the weapon - a short Dao roughly as long as a human forearm, that allows greater manoeuvrability when spinning and rotating during close-quarters fighting. They are held within the same sheath to give off the initial appearance of a single weapon. The cross-guard holds a single hooked prong akin to that of a Sai, which can be used to deflect other melee blade weaponry or catch them. This compliments well with her battle style, which consists of swift spins and flurries of attacks typically in a charging manner to overwhelm opponents, but also able to offer potent deflective ability while also being light enough to aid in agility.

Ranged State:

Combining upon the hilts, the paired swords transform into a recurve bow. The hilts shift and reconfigure into the bow's sight and grip, forming the weapon's riser. The rigidity of the grips form a very sturdy riser, which only makes sense - gripping the hilts as a sword and now the hilts as the riser for the recurve bow. Meanwhile, the blades collapse and elongate in order to form the limbs of the bow. Her arrows and her drawstring are formed by her semblance, the weightlessness allowing them to be fired farther and faster.

 

[spoiler=Semblance:]Photokinetic Constructs:

This is the ability to create constructs out of light. A user can turn light into a variety of objects. In Fay's case, she can create arrows of light nearly effortlessly. These arrows are, naturally, weightless, and come in two variables - a rounded tip for blunt damage, or pointed for piercing damage. To compliment this she also creates her bowstring from hardlight to limber up her weapon's abilities. In addition to this, and perhaps her signature use of her semblance, are hardlight wings, stylized in the form of butterfly wings. As opposed to standard wings that flap to maintain flight, her wings convert intake air and channel it into a jet propulsion to thrust her forwards. This jet of wind effectively functions akin to a jetpack.

Welp, since progress on things that'd need to be done are going smoothly, I'm officially calling a 24-hour warning before the IC Thread begins.

 

Those of you who still apping for C and L slots for Team CYJL, as well as the U and Z slots for Team SRUZ, may wish to place what you've done (they do not have to be fully completed) inside the OOC Thread so that I can link them to the OP, and as well as saving brain power on having to come with NPCs for those slots. Also, if you have an app that's still marked as under construction and you do not have a character that you can use for the IC Thread in the meantime, speak to me ASAP and I'll try to guide you into getting that app into a fully acceptable state.

Carmilla is a Bat Faunus with dark hair, pale skin, red eyes that glow in darkness, and pronounced canines. She has a slender figure befitting her lithe, small stature, though she says she is still growing. She prefers to dress in a Gothic Lolita style, with a dark red and black ensemble composing a sleeveless blouse, a black leather corset, a frilled battle skirt, and long leather boots and stockings, as well as a pair of gloves and a cute bow on top of her head. She adds to her selection of clothing with additional bows and ribbons and frills, though her clothing, no matter the occasion, always has room on her back for her two wings to poke out. These wings can extend out to much larger than they normally are to let Carmilla glide about, though they are not strong enough to flap and provide lift on their own. She also has a pair of goggles and a black cloak to help her with confronting her problems with daylight, but the goggles also help when battling.

Carmilla is incredibly nocturnal, and that reflects on her personality. During the day, she is very lethargic and slothful, wanting to sleep, and often accomplishing that goal. She still has to attend class, but is normally allowed to sleep in class due to her nature. She walks around campus during the day in a haze, almost as if she was sleepwalking, having memorized the routes to her classes and the schedule of her classes to help her get where she needs to be. Daylight, no matter when or where, has this effect on her, and instantly drains her stamina to make her tired and sluggish. Strangely, artificial lighting seems to have no effect on her, but artificially-created ultraviolet lights can induce this effect, leading her doctors to believe that ultraviolet radiation is what causes her nocturnalness.

In contrast, Carmilla becomes more energized as soon as the sun starts dipping over the horizon, or when the natural light levels decrease, and once darkness has set in, she is wide awake and highly energetic, displaying a happy, enthusiastic persona. Thanks to her condition, she is able to audit her courses at night, and displays great intelligence and cunning in her coursework. She runs or flies everywhere at night, and tries to spend it getting as much as she can done in the period she has. Due to this attitude, she is nearly constantly filled with confidence and determination, regardless of whether she's competent or not at the task. She always cares for her friends and teammates, and strives to do whatever she can to help them out, at her own expense.


[spoiler=Biography]
Carmilla is a bastard child of the Nadasdy family, a crime syndicate based in Vale that competes against the Xiong family. A couple decades ago, the Xiongs decided to try and take out the heirs to the Nadasdy empire by targeting the youngest generation. To that end, they sent in Vladimir Ecsed, a Bat Faunus assassin, to take care of the men that would inherit the Xiong's rivals' power. While Vladimir was able to take care of the male heirs, he found himself in the windowsill of the last of the Nadasdy children: 20-year-old college student Agana Nadasdy. Both were smitten by one another, and Vladimir could not find it in his heart to kill someone so beautiful, so the two of them met in secret, with Vladimir finding excuses to not successfully carry out the assassination, until Agana and her family learned the truth of her lover's true nature, and the Xiongs found out about the relationship as well. Both lovers instead fled from Vale and headed to Vacuo, changing their identities to cover their tracks.

Fifteen years later, Bram and Wilhelmina Ecsed, as they have become, have found happiness in Vacuo under new lives. Wilhelmina is a schoolteacher helping to educate young children, while Bram aids in private security to act as a bodyguard against the very kinds of assassins and henchmen that he used to deal with and work with. And both love their darling daughter Carmilla, despite her being much more nocturnally sensitive than her father, though Bram says that she will begin to adjust better to her sleep cycle as she grows up. For now, she is content with being a Huntress, despite her parents' objections, as they don't want to potentially alert the Xiongs and Nadasdys to their location. And Carmilla knows nothing of her origins, or the truth about her parents.



Combat Information

[spoiler=Lingering Whispers]
The Lingering Whispers are a part of Carmilla's father's old assassin gear, and are his old signature weapon. They are a pair of gauntlets with three tiered spools of razor-thin wire on each, connected to three launchers at the wrists on each. One launcher has a sharp piton point, one has a serrated blade, and one has a sharp hooked end. These launchers can be deployed and manipulated using hand signs via the fingers, with straps around the hands letting them be manipulated. The high-powered launchers let the blades be retracted and extended very quickly and at high speeds. Using this system, a flying Faunus such as Carmilla could easily gain the thrust needed to propel herself into the air.

The Nadasdy family has always had the manipulation of Auras as their Semblance, and as Carmilla's gift from her mother, she possesses the power to tap into another person's Aura at touch, and either drain them of their Aura, or replenish their Aura with her own, transferring Aura between herself and others through tactile contact. Being able to make her skin touch theirs makes the ability work better, and she can "overcharge" her Aura for periods of time by draining it, though it gives her a bit of a high and makes her more or less drunk the more her Aura stays above its natural limit.



Miscellaneous Information

Carmilla absolutely LOVES fruit, especially fruit juice. Hovering a nice, fresh, ripe piece of fruit in front of her face is the best way to get her awake and alert, even if it is during the day. She can usually be found on her off time either snacking on some fruit, sinking her fangs into some fruit to suck the juice, or sipping on a fruit smoothie.

[spoiler=Personality]
Uekleva is rather laid-back and takes an easy stance to situations, seeing even the worst-case scenarios in some positive light. An eternal optimist, she tries to approach her problems as calmly and rationally as possible, while still staying positive. She sees this as the best way to present herself as a professional Huntress, to be the calm in the storm and to tackle the mission one step at a time. However, she is constantly striving to maintain the legacy of her father, one of the greatest Huntsman of all time, or at least one of the most well-known. She also is very humble, and is trying very hard to not let her newfound fame go to her head. However, her skills can sometimes cause her to get a bit cocky and become rather mean-spirited, as opposed to the calm, taciturn young woman she initially appears to be, taking out frustrations on Grimm when she thinks she can get away with it, or in fights with people, toying and mocking them gleefully. Still, just reigning her in can revert her back to her normal self. She cares the most about her family and friends, and is very loyal to them, to the point of willing to sacrifice herself for their sake.

Uekleva is one of many bastard children of Hugo Ovatheya, one of the greatest Huntsman of modern times (according to himself, though his record is certainly impressive). Hugo hosts a popular show broadcast across Remnant via the Cross Continental Transmit System called "Hugo 'Round The World", where he documents various types of Grimm and the best ways to take them down, avoid them, and find out more about them. He also has a challenge show called "Grimm Hunter" that provides scholarships to aspiring Huntsman and Huntresses by proving what they know in challenges relating to Grimm. His job takes him all across the planet, and he has spent many a night in the company of others, which caught up to him when a couple dozen mothers from multiple kingdoms petitioned for him to provide child support for their children.
 
In order to kill the two birds of the negative press of the scandal and the decision of who gets the child support payments, Hugo changed the format of his next season of "Grimm Hunter" to challenge his own children, whether they actually be his, or are the children of liars that want his money. The winners of "Grimm Hunter: Apprenticeship", judged by fellow Huntsman and Huntresses, not Hugo for conflicts of interest, would get the payments and additional scholarships. Out of the 30 or so that started, 3 won the grand prize: Adam Antium, Ansom Roeg, and Uekleva Gill. Adam was sent back to his home of Atlas, Ansom to his home of Mistral, and Uekleva went back to Vacuo to begin her own schooling, having formed a bond with her father and ready to do his name justice.



Combat Information

The Talon Quartet are a quartet of relatively low-tech weapons with the ability to convert between two different modes, but all serve as very useful tools of combat, depending on the situation. All four are custom crafted with metal and a wood and leather finish to give them an antique appearance, but are relatively new in terms of construction. Talons One and Two are a pair of bladed, weighted boomerangs that can shift their blade edges enough to allow for Uekleva to grip pistol grips inside and make room for a pistol barrel to fire without any obstructions. Talon Three is a machete that can also split its longer edges aside to allow a shotgun built into the length of the blade to fire off shells. And Talon Four is a hatchet that can fold out into a bolt-action rifle by flipping it around. However, unlike most weapons that are also firearms, the firearm mode of a Talon cannot be used at the same time as the melee mode, and vice-versa.


[spoiler=Semblance]
Uekleva has the ability to create Decoys, which are Aura constructs in the shape of a human figure with an illusion placed on top, usually looking like Uekleva. This means that, because each of the Decoys has a small amount of Aura, that they are fully corporeal as opposed to simply being illusions. Each Decoy is given a small amount of Uekleva's Aura to keep their shape, and can even fire bolts of Aura that mimic gunfire, though they don't hurt as much and it depletes the Aura each Decoy is made out of. The only way to tell a Decoy from a real person is by touching them, at which point the illusion around them will flicker at the point of contact, and they will feel frictionless and smooth. If a Decoy's Aura is depleted, either through misuse of their own resources, a strong enough blow or impact, or from other attacks such as gunfire or Dust detonations, it shatters into motes of light and vanishes. Decoys cast no shadows, and can mimic sounds, but not produce their own. They also must be directed by commands Uekleva imparts on them by touch, and will carry out that task to the best of their ability, but they are not sentient. As long as Uekleva is touching a Decoy, she can directly command that Decoy, or give it commands, but doing so depletes more Aura.

Especially since Tamsyn just defeated a few of the young ones.

We're fighting the BIG one.

And Stalfos and I figure it will take all 4 teams to take it down.

Just like RWBY and JNPR had the Nevermore, we will have an Adult Ground Dweller.

So... probable necrobump, but hey, I'm the host. (I think this gives me the right to necrobump, but I could be wrong :/)

 

As mentioned in my official outro post, which can be viewed here, I can either make our RWBY RP into a fanfic, or save that for NaNoWriMo and try to reboot it the moment I get back into YCM again. I'll have a poll up momentarily so those of you who are left can come to a consensus of sorts.

I have a few questions for you, Stalfos.

 

  1. After looking at your "outro post"; if I post the apps while you're not available, will you check them when you get back? (Or, who else can review them during that time?)
  2. After you (or someone else eligible) checks on my apps (once they are done), how long should it be fro then until I can start posting IC?
  3. If I remember correctly, I can't RP as two characters on the same team. With that in mind, how many new teams am I allowed to create if I feel I do not fit in any of them?
  4. How should I transition into the RP when I start?
  5. Who and where can I ask more questions if they pop up? (This is currently all I've got.)

Personally, I'd wait until I've rebooted the RP itself. That of course is, unfortunately, unlikely to happen until I get a new hard drive for my computer and/or get a new one entirely, but hopefully the OP from the newly rebooted RP will answer your questions. I still need to work out how transitions will work in order to make the most of said reboot, but I aim to have them figured out by the time my hardware problems get solved.

For now though, I officially declare this closed. I can't promise an exact date for the reboot, but I can say that it will come soon.
