Sixty
Pharaoh_Atem' date=' you are awesome. You just have an awesome personality. But, I don't really see why any cards should be banned. If you're good enough, you can stand up to anything.[/quote'] The flaw lies in one thing and one thing only. You're wrong. Namely, you're wrong about the following: If you're good enough, you can stand up to anything. Being "good enough" requires that it is possible for someone to be unable to stand up to it. Namely, for the term "good enough" to make sense, there must be a level of ability that is insufficient. Namely, for "good enough" to exist, "not good enough" must be possible. Now, then, you are wrong simply because being "not good enough" is impossible for the case you have presented. The case you present is that "a player" must "be able to stand up to anything." First, we define "a player" as someone who meets the benchmarks of playing the game - namely, someone able to follow the rules and comprehend every game mechanic, such that the player truly can play the game unimpeded. If someone cannot comprehend how to play the game, they are not a player, although they might try to play. They cannot actually play, as they do not understand how, so they are not a player. Next, we define "being able to stand up to anything." It's exactly as quoted. Now, then. Here's where s*** falls apart for your case. It is impossible for a player to be "not good enough". Namely, every "player" (as defined) CAN "stand up to everything." It doesn't matter how bad the player is: if he's a player, he can stand up to anything the game throws at him. You need not be good at the game to win or lose at this game. Saying "we shouldn't prohibit cards because you can stand up to anything if you're good" is a poor argument. This is because you do not need to be good to stand up to anything. Namely, Prohibitions and Limitations (when properly conducted) promote a game where bad players generally lose more often than they win, moreso than they would if the Prohibitions and/or Limitations were stopped. A game w/o Prohibitions takes being "good" or "bad" out of the equation, and replaces it with nothing but luck of the draw. A game w/ Prohibitions... reintroduces the concept of a "good player winning" and "bad player losing." So, tell me, do you believe that bad players should be able to beat good players? lol Aximil. Pharaoh_Atem just dissected your statement and shot it in the face.

Orochi
Yes. But' date=' I still say that all cards should be allowed. Then, like you said, it would just be up to luck. Which means, anyone can win. Even new coming players against players who have been playing the game for quite some time.[/quote'] no, with bad unbalanced formats like chaos format, the one who wins the coin flip wins the game... that's not luck specially when you can draw the whole deck in 1 turn, and when you KNOW that stacking is possible... new players cannot win agains experienced players, because they have to learn game mechanics, better deckbuilding, and giving them dumb and skilless OTK/FTK cards don't help them to learn, so if you want a flip-coin format (like this one) and a stupid 1-card OTK format... then i have 2 words for you: YOU FAIL!!! on-topic: cyber dragon should be banned along DAD... Lol that reminds me. I had a locals tournament be traditional last week. 95% of the people ran chaos lol. People that didnt ran DMoC FTK and Scientist FTK. It is fun to play where the person who goes first wins once in a while but the whole experience refreshed the meaning of the banlist.
jhcman21
With Disk commander you can ran multiple pot of greeds plus use it for crush or a tribute, i think it deserves the most banning only because JD and DAD need certain conditions to be played or use there effects
Pharaoh_Atem
Yes. But' date=' I still say that all cards should be allowed.[/quote'] LET'S UNLIMIT EVERYTHING. Then we'll go back and just toss coins all day, and the kid to win the toss wins each match. YGO is now completely pointless, as no enjoyment can be derived from it unless you're a delusional nutcase, and it's better to imprison or execute nutcases rather than let them be a danger to society. Then' date=' like you said, it would just be up to luck. Which means, anyone can win.[/quote'] HEY? GUESS WHAT? IN A GAME WHERE ALL GAMEPLAY IS FUNDAMENTALLY DICTATED BY THE SHUFFLE, ANYONE CAN WIN IN ANY FORMAT. YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS? THIS MEANS WE DON'T HAVE TO LET EVERYTHING BE UP TO LUCK WHEN WE WANT EVERYONE TO HAVE A CHANCE. Even new coming players against players who have been playing the game for quite some time. Oooh, let's give thousands of dollars in prizes and awards to the LUCKIEST person, instead of someone who stands a good chance of just being the BEST person, when the entire competition's abstract says "the best players deserve the prizes".
