I assume because it's just 1-1 destruction unless it's chained. The damage is just like the healing you give your opponent when they use Soul Taker.

i think some factor in RoD banning is the amount of draws it lead to making rounds run over time as a match cannot finish in a draw

Also Crab, I'm offended that you don't worship the words that come out of my mouth. If I say that Reborn can stay unbanned for a few formats, anyone that disagrees obviously belongs in a nut house.

 

Now, in our RL format, Monster Reborn is easily the best recursion. It's also a clever move by Konami, in theory. I liked the reasoning behind their recursion switch in order to power down cards like Disk and DMoC. The problem is, these cards are inherently broken, and deserve to be banned, regardless of any disadvantages put on them like the limitation of Monster Reborn.

 

However, in Crab's format, Monster Reborn's unique power is drastically reduced. It can no longer pull back your opponent's disk, etc. Still, it is immune to S/T removal, which gives it a huge hand over Prem and Call. Call's chainability just doesn't tip it over Reborn. Reborn is better, period.

 

That being said, I don't necessarily think that Reborn being powerful is bad, though I can see why Crab doesn't want that in this list. He's made an effort to destroy the limited list. Reborn would be bad at 3, due to it's immunity to removal, therefore, perhaps, it's better of banned, at least in this list.
