Say you have Dark Armed Dragon, and Mask of Darkness face down, your opponent has Doomcaliber and 1 face-down Mirror Force. You flip Mask of Darkness knowing Doomcaliber self destructs with mask, then use DAD's effect destroy Mirror Force and attack.

I know this was situational, but still you can't specail summon Doomcaliber, and the fact you could have other scenarios where you blow Doom up by a weak card.

Just saw the TCG price. Wow... 1000+ USD. Guess the effect doesn't balance out with the price O_O

 

Still, this card is there as a card that gains advantage easily, and so is usually recommended for people just starting the game, in the OCG at least.

Teaches the concept of gaining advantage and is only around 500 yen, great for budget decks.

Opponent could just play a useless card and this self destructs hey? One question. WHY would an opponent have a useless card? Maybe if they're a newb or noob yes (some exceptions i admit), but really I'm more afraid of the fact that it would negate any monster effect you activated, so YOU wouldn't be able to activate the effect you want to while it remains out.

 

Personally i like this card, I'd use it. What i REALLY don't like is that it can't be special summoned :(. The fact that you can't choose what it negates seems to just be a balance, but WHY not special summoning why!

 

Oh yeah, it could be abused...

Except in this case you've prevented your opponent from getting back that RfttD. MoM isn't a weak card, sorry.

doom is only good for early game and late game, during the middle this card gets ripped apart, and it it gets in your way, so that could cost you the game. while at the beginning of the game its a good lol beat stick, and you know the only way your opponent is going to beat it is by card effect. while late game you opponent has to be careful because if they use the wrong monster effect to try and destroy the card, you could end up losing the duel, however you are more likely to have a monster on the field that can beat the monster as a result of battle.

I just play-tested this card. This card > any current runnable anti-GB stuff that exists. 1900 lolatk (for what its worth), DARK, and as long as it is on your side of the field, your opponent is, in almost all cases it forces your opponent to play around it, limiting the better, more card efficient techniques they could have played otherwise.

 

This card is f-cking godly. I am almost assure it will gain an incredible amount of value after the SJC, because of how well it handles Gladiators.

 

@ Tea: Thunderking is far less playable, most viable deck types use Allure/the like.

Good card is good. Problem is you need it in threes. It's attack is enough to cope with any commonly played non tribute monsters. Against gladiator beasts, the most relevant example, doom calibur can run over anything save fusions, hop, and beefed up laq ect. which means that unless they shrink, mirror force ect then your gonna be taking down their monsters and when one tries to get their effect off, after say, defensive tactics, boom its gone.

 

After playing against it I admit it was a hindrance when it hit the field, though due to only one copy being in Statics deck, nothing game breaking. I could go on but until further rests I will state that it is good, though perhaps not SJC worthy.
