You don't seem to get it. Yes, news is anything new happening on the site. New banned members is news. New polls is news. New updates are news. And you don't just randomly ask high ranked people. They may know nothing about the topic. You ask people involved it it, high ranked or low ranked, it doesn't matter how high they are ranked.
