1) God doesn't hate gays. According to Christian, Catholic, and Jewish faith (the three most prevalant in the U.S., since people seem to be using that as an example), God loves everyone. Regardless. The Bible has never once stated that God hates gays.

 

2) People who are homophobic are just being idiots about not accepting what's different, which in turn makes other idiots follow their example so that they can be "cool".

Why do you complain about prejudice towards homosexuals and then present prejudiced views about heterosexual upbringing?

 

You talk about how bad it is for you and that people won't accept you, but so far you've called being raised in a heterosexual environment and life style bad, and you've expressed negativity towards the bible.

 

They're prejudiced towards you and that would be because of their preconceived, false notions about homosexuals correct?

 

Yet, you have your own false notions about religious people, father's that want their sons to be heterosexual, and even God himself.

 

Here's some examples to destroy your views of these:

B) So wanting your son to live a lifestyle that society and nature percieves as normal is wrong? We all want our children to grow up in one way or another. We may support different lifestyles, but deep down we all have our own image of what we want our kids to be. While I hate stupid football jocks as much as you do, not all football players are complete idiotic jerks. This is how we have been raising people for ages. I'm not pressured into sports, but I have had a fairly normal upbringing and it didn't turn me into a homosexual hater, nor has it turned thousands of others into them.

C) God has never expressed his views on homosexuals, people have only interpreted it from the bible (which has never clearly said that he hates homosexuals, only that he loves everyone and that he forgives them of their sins. If homosexuality is a sin, then I don't see why God wouldn't forgive them). Stop blaming God because his followers do stupid things.

Besides, if YHVH exists, He controls sexuality, or else The Holy Bible is lying to us.

 

Another thing, that I've noticed in every thread that involves religion in some way, is that atheists say things to the tune of "Well if there is an all powerful being, why do people do bad things, and why do disasters occur that he could avert?".

 

Answer to the first one: We were created with free will. That is the answer to that. If you think that christians are silly because they think God controls everyone's actions, then you're correct that it's a silly idea, but wrong that christians believe it. Also, before someone counters this with a quote from the bible about guiding our actions, guiding does not equal controlling.

So... is He omnipotent or not? Make up your mind.

 

Answer to the 2nd: God doesn't often meddle in the affairs of mortals because, quite frankly, it's not his job. When he created us, he gave us the duty as wardens of the earth. It's our job to keep the earth safe, not his.

Another thing I see discussed, is that atheists have been criticizing christians and other religions for blind faith. Congratulations! You are now a hypocrite! Most atheists are liberal, correct? You turn on your TV an watch CNN, or some other news station that isn't fox, and blindly believe your liberal media. Doesn't sound much different does it?

We blindly believe our liberal media? No true skepticist would accept the media — or anything — without testing it him- or herself.

Oh, and I realize that I'm making an unfair stereotype about liberals there. The purpose of it, was to show how stupid it is for atheists to criticize all religious people as blindly believing everything told to them.

There's also "If God exists, why doesn't he prove it?". Do you really think that you're that important? If I were God, I wouldn't waste my time convincing a few people I exist. God will exist indefinitely whether you believe it or not. So, frankly, the answer to this is: You're too insignificant to warrant God proving his existence to you.

YHVH had no reason to create Earth except to have worshipers; The Holy Bible never stated any other reason for its existence. Also, if he's willing to blow up a few heretic cities and open up a circle of Hell for nonbelievers, I think he's pretty interested in having followers.

Well, extremists and evangelists have tarnished its reputation. There's also the whole "we're-ruled-by-an-egomaniac" thing. In a way, we're just a bit skeptical if it can really be that bad.

Also, why do we argue on the internet? Very rarely does one side convince another, because both sides are so firmly entrenched in their opinions. Personally, I think we just do it because we're bored and the conversations can be amsing at times. One side gets to laugh at how stupid the others opinions are to them and vice versa. The different sides are making eachother happy with laughter etc. Sort of representative how different groups do things in different ways but accomplish the same end. But, I'm rambling now, so I digress.

I, at least, argue online because online communities are far superior intellectually to those in my area. We debate because that is the purpose of life.

It's partially true; there are common genes in homosexuals and bisexuals that heterosexuals lack.
