please sticky - generic extra deck

Recommended Posts

right for the last couple of months, when it came down to the extra deck a lot of people have just wrote "generic", however this is not at all helpful to new players. So in this post i will attempt to construct a definitive "generic extra deck" and explain why each card is their. this extra deck will be for tgc only as a lot of people do not play ocg.

what does "generic" mean?

a quick google search and you will quickly get these results click here.

however you may now ask yourself, how does this translate to yu-gi-oh?

And the answer is simple, its the same as splash-able cards. Meaning that there is no requirements that you will need to do first before the card is usable in your deck. for example pot of greed, monster reborn (ish).

The construction of the generic extra deck

the extra deck an contain 0-15 synchro/fusion monsters within it. You should always try to maximize your Extra Deck because, it does not add to your deck count so your getting wider range of play, even if you just play monster reborn (revive a tuner). In this post i will only make an extra deck of 12-15(when adding doubles) because, sometimes duelists do add some synchros/fusions to aid their strategy, or to aid their current meta. for example tempest magician and Arcanite Magician would work well in a spellcaster deck, but because they require spellcaster non tuners their no generic, and would not be useful outside a deck that could abuse their effects. Another example is Gladiator Beast Heraklinos, and Gladiator Beast Gyzarus. This is because when gladiator beasts were the meta game, if you could take your opponents gladiator beasts their would be a good chance that you would be able to abuse their fusions aswell.

1.1 goyo Guardian

GoyoGuardianTDGS-EN-UR-1E.jpg

firstly look at its requirements to summon. It reads "1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters". this means that their is no restriction on the tuner and monster you use for the synchro summon. As a result of this freedom, it will be able to hit the field at any time you want. the reason goyo hit the generic extra deck list is simple, is a level 6, HUGE beatstick, where you gain advantage. Its current status is limited so his card is put in at 1.

1.2 black rose dragon

BlackRoseDragonCT05-EN-ScR-LE.png

Again it reads "1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters". however this card a more interesting use, because if you do have deck devotion for this card then you can use black rose dragon second effect, however if its just tecked in then is able to clear the field to either win the game, or to get back into the game. again you only relay need 1 of this card, maybe 2 if your deck needs to take advantage of hand/field advantage, for example traggo-gadget decks.

1.3 Colossal Fighter

ColossalFighter5DS1-EN-SR-1E.png

this cards purpose is a huge beatstick which an revive itself if destroyed by battle. whether this card is a 1 or 2 depends on how many warriors you run, if you run a lot of warriors hen put in 2, however if your only running this and goyo, you probably will only need 1, however because of field destruction is probably best to run this at 2.

1.4 Stardust Dragon

StardustDragonCT05-EN-ScR-LE.png

this card is not only generic, but it also says no to all destruction your opponent has. you will only ever need 2 of these, because their is very little that hurts this card, and you do not want to run the risk that your opponent will have the answer to deal with dusty in their side deck.

1.5 Thought Ruler Archfiend

ThoughtRulerArchfiendTDGS-EN-UR-1E.png

again, like dusty hard to defeat, but is also strong and can make the lp gap between you and your opponent bigger. again i would run 2 just in case of side decks that have the answer to it.

1.6 Red Dragon Archfiend

RedDragonArchfiendCT05-EN-ScR-LE.png

its a huge beatstick, which destroys stalling opponents. Stalling is no a commonly use method of winning in this and the past couple of metas, so you will only need 1 as it will be use to give you back control of the game to win.

1.7 Dark Strike Fighter

DarkStrikeFighterCRMS-EN-SR-1E.jpg

because if you get two of these on the field, both direct attack and then use their effect to win (otk style) and their generic, so theirs no reason not to add a new win condition to the deck.

1.8 Gaia Knight, the Force of Earth

GaiaKnight%2CtheForceofEarth5DS1-EN-SR-1E.png

because of the limiting of goyo, this card my be worth tecking in, because it a big beast stick which can destroy dusty. so i would personally run 1, however u may consider 2 if their is room, just to fill up the extra deck.

1.9 Armory Arm

ArmoryArmDP08-EN-UR-1E.jpg

its the only level 4 synchro and its a nifty little equip monsters. Only needed at 1 because its use is to inflict enough damage to win.

hope you found this guide helpful, and please discuss if you fill other cards need to be included
