Fear of Death [Poem]

Death?,

The most unique of all things is death.

Beautiful, romantic and yet horrifying, puzzling,

We go about our lives living in fear of death.

But in reality aren’t we living for death,

Isn’t every moment of our lives just ticking away until that final judgment day?

When we finally get judged for our life’s work for every accomplishment we have made,

For every sacrifice we make to allow us to make it to the promise land.

For every time we have happiness, sadness, and sorrow

For every mistake we have made and for every act of penitence we ask.

We spend not but a moment thinking about death as it is,

Where do we go, Do we go on or stay here.

Do we live on forever or do we live on not but tomorrow after death.

Do we go with angels or stay on our still bed,

lying forever in the great catacomb of life itself.

Do the very embodiment of ours souls maintain trapped in the great mausoleum?

Do we practice for that what is not there?

Do we spend our lives,

Preaching to an unseen choir out of fear or out of love for the unforeseen?

Every day we spend living in fear of ourselves,

We are shown from birth that we were meant to live,

And yet we are taught that death is the way to the promise land.

We are shown that Life has meaning,

And yet the only meaning we receive is when we die.

My friends the simple point is this,

We should live and then die,

Not die before we live,

We shouldn’t prepare ourselves for the unforeseen.

Instead we should see ourselves for what we truly are

We need to look inside ourselves and ask,

Is Death afraid of us or are we Afraid of it?

No' date=' not rhyme, rhythm. The timing and number of syllables. It gives the poem a beat, like a song. A flow is using word choice that leads to the next. It influences the rhythm and makes the poem better. All great poems can be made into music.

Alright, then here's this. Have you ever heard of free style poetry? Well, here's this. It's a poem that doesn't have a defined rhythm or flow. It is a series of abstract wording making a metaphor or an illusion in the reader's mind. This poem is an example of that.

If you cannot except that, then please state so, and then go on with biased poetry.
