[spoiler=Synopsis]Welcome to Systrum. An alternate version of Earth, where technology was discovered much earlier, and therefore, pollution as well. This covered the Earth in a choking blanket of smog and rippling haze, dimming the sky and warping the normal blue color into a much more sinister one, similar to an oil spill. The earth's landmasses were developed into one huge ecumenopolis, named after the planet it was developed on.

 

Because of the high amount of chemicals in the air, there have been bizarre mutations in the populace. The majority of these mutated babies die at birth, but those who survive are looked down upon by those considered "normal". Therefore, to ensure their survival, the government steals away the children and brings them to an island in the Pacific Ocean. These children are known as Deadliners, and their home, the Deadzone. They are conditioned here, developing a culture of their own, and hopefully be able to one day return to normal society. However, in the meantime, they are being sent on missions across the globe to exterminate the other mutants caused by the cocktail in the sky, to hopefully retain some semblance of normalcy for others.

 

You are one of the few Deadliners who has managed to survive infancy. How will you live your life in the world of the Deadzone? It's up to you...

 

[spoiler=Rules]In addition to the rules outlined in this thread, I am also expecting you to follow the rules below.

1) Type at least 4 decent sentences per post with good grammar, spelling, and description. This doesn't apply to OOC posts.

2) This isn't all about fighting, so do some character development as well. Only making fighting posts will get a warning.

3) No cut-and-paste bios. Seriously. I've seen a couple of people here use nearly the exact same character, with minor details altered for each RP. Don't do it.

 

If you break any of these rules, you will be negged and banned.

[spoiler=Points of Interest]The Bar System - When a Deadliner is brought to the Deadzone, they are given a tracking tattoo on their left shoulderblade, which can be located across the world through GPS. The tattoo is in the shape of a circle, with 1 to 5 bars going across the circle horizontally. The more bars on the tattoo, the higher up the Deadliner is in the Deadzone self-run society. I will assign the number of bars on your tattoo, based on your character.

 

Ecumenopolis - Basically, it's a city that covers the entire globe. In this case, the city's mayor is the world president, and the location of the Deadzone is in the middle of a small "ocean" of preserved land. Note, because of all the pollution put out, Systrum is very industrial. Not much green space, except in the Deadzone.

Character Name: Ruby Smith

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Ethnicity: Chinese

Appearance: She has shoulder-length layered black hair and dark-chocolate-coloured eyes. She isn't very tall, around 5'2-3". She is never seen wearing skirts or heels or anything sexy. She is always seen in jeans and trainers.

Personality: She is quite a happy-go-lucky girl who cares for her friends. Although she is shy and awkward around strangers, she is really talkative to people she feels more comfortable with, and her sense of humour is mocking people in a joking way. She can be fearless, but only if she's really pushed to it.

Bio: Although she is Chinese, Ruby was born in England. She had a happy life growing up. Since she was five she had started to do kung fu, in which she excelled at, especially with staffs. When she was 13, one day she woke up and discovered she had developed a pair of wings. She only managed to say a brief goodbye to her parents before being taken to the Deadzone.

Mutation Description: She has a pair of crimson wings on her back. No one knows her wings' true size, as it seems to be affected by her emotions. Usually when she is upset or angry her wings have a longer wingspan. It has been discovered she flies faster and swifter with longer wings.

Character Name: Jonathan Wisteria

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Ethnicity: Caucasian.

Appearance: Jonathan has short, brown hair and dark green eyes. He's 5'11", and therefore taller than most people he know. Due to his mutation, he is physically weak and can't even run that fast.

He's often wearing a white t-shirt and black trousers, with a denim jacket on top. Thanks to his mutation, he doesn't wear gloves.

Personality: Even among the Deadliners, Jonathan's mutation is seen as a bit... obscure. Those who don't know him keep their distance, and those who do tread lightly. Thanks to this, Jonathan has become overly bitter and cynical, and distrusts strangers.

Bio: When Jonathan was born, people thought he would be a normal child. His fingers were a little thinner than most, but that wasn't noticed much. However, in a matter of weeks, they changed. They had grown far beyond what was normal, and the keratin in the nails covered the entire hand. Each finger was almost a foot long, and sharp as a razor.

The day after, Jonathan was taken to the Deadzone.

Mutation Description: Apart from the above mentioned hand-to-claw metamorphosis, Jonathan's muscles are also absurdly weaker than before. Given the history of his hands, it is possible that his entire body will soon be covered as well, turning him into a living statue.

Job in Deadline Society: Thanks to the urgent state of his body, and the general dislike of his appearance, Jonathan has the possibly lowest state of work: Electricity Generation Processor at the Deadzone Power Plant. In other words, he connects himself to a machine which puts him in a state of physical pain, and then absorbs the electrical impulses triggered by the nerves. In other words, he hurts himself to make a few bucks a week.

Character Name: Zachariah Harlson

Age: 18

Gender: Male

Ethnicity: Caucasian

Appearance: Zachariah's rather stocky and of average height for his age, with compacted muscles from doing hard labor for so long and due to a relentless workout routine. He usually wears just a pair of old jeans and a belt, preferring to go shirtless. Therefore, he's rather tanned. He has pale brown eyes and messy black hair that's usually cut short. Because of his mutation, Zach has to always carry around an empty water bottle in which he can spit into.

Personality: Overtly friendly, even to a fault, Zachariah always tries to help the new Deadliners and make their transition as easy as possible. However, his good intentions usually get screwed up along the way, for he always seems to mess up, through either mixing his lines up or simply making a fool of himself. Therefore, he can usually be found in the greenhouses in his spare time, tending to plants, or in the gym and working out.

Bio: Zachariah grew up in a factory division of Systrum, where he was put to work early packing boxes. His mutation wasn't evident immediately, but when his mother was given a potted plant as a gift when he was 6, Zach stuck a spit-covered finger into it, and the plant flourished overnight. Seeing this, he was whisked away to the Deadzone the next day, without even time to say goodbye.

Mutation Description: Zachariah's salivary glands are hyperactive, which means he produces a large amount of spit constantly that is either stored or swallowed. However, his spit has a special chemical in it that accelerates the growth of plants; a species that would take 5 months to grow will take only 1 month if grown in soil with Zach's saliva.

Job in Deadline Society: Due to his mutation, Zachariah is Head Maintainer of the Deadzone Greenhouses, which is in charge of non-grain crop production, like vegetables.

That's my mission; I'm a "professional" reviewer here, I've given constructive criticism until it has seeped out of my ass, I'm just trying to do my funking job! However, all around me, I see, "i plays exodia!!!!:Dlol11!" This is what I'm trying to stop, and yet you're trying to go against it just to bring mediocrity? Look at your post that I quoted, for example. You're obviously too lazy to even think of using a couple of helpful friends. Angel of Death (cliched name BTW), meet Mr. Shift Key and Ms. Period. They'd like to beat some common language sense up your funking ass.

 

If you don't like my rules, you have no power over me to change it. So, bring me some tits, or get the funk out, and bring your half-assed opinions with you as well.

 

Mods, warn/ban me for this, I don't care. Just wanted to put my point out there. Thank you for your time.
