Here is my Magical Scientist FTK Decklist so far, please only comment if you know how the deck works.

A Feather of the Phoenix - In theory should work well (Reasoning, Monster Gate) but it seems like a Dead Draw the majority of the time.

So as you can see this deck still needs 2 more cards to be complete.

Bolded cards are the ones that are proving bad and next to them is the reason why. I focus mainly on thinning my deck with Monster Gate and Reasoning to Special Summon monsters as tributes for Catapult Turtle, or to Special Summon the Turtle or Scientist. I usually bring out Magical Scientist through One for One (Not legal until RGBT comes out in English) and Last Will. Fiber Jar is there in case the combo doesn't work out.

 

What I don't want you to say:

Add traps - To Slow, and don't say add in Makyura the Destructor because he just gets in the way for Reasoning and Monster Gate, and if I don't draw him but I draw heaps of traps - I'm screwed.

 

Add Flip Effects - Same as above, and Book of Taiyou is a dead draw, as well as the flip effect monsters getting in the way for Monster Gate and Reasoning.

 

Add Cannon Soldier - Unless you can give me 1 good reason why I should run Cannon Soldier, he is staying out Toon or otherwise.

He gets in the way of Monster Gate/Reasoning

He is a dead draw.

He only has synergy with 2 other cards: Toon Table of Contents and Last Will, the latter I mainly use for Tributes and Monster Gate, and I am hoping to take out Toon Table of Contents anyway.

 

At the moment this deck only has about a 50% FTK Success rate, and about a 75% OTK Success rate, which i believe is pretty bad.

EDIT: I tested the deck again by removing the bolded cards and... it FTKed 8/10 Times! And one of the times it didn't FTK it won on the second turn. But by taking out the bolded cards I only had 32 cards in the deck, making the test pretty unfair... So I need to fill up the remaining 8 spots with +1 cards basically.

I don't know how well this deck works, but I'd llike to point out a few things which seem a bit iffy to me.

Mirage Knight - Dead Draw, useless because this is an FTK.

Thunder Dragon - Doesn't really generate any real advantage, but I guess it fills up space.

Metamorphosis - Dead draw, doesn't further the combo at all.

Threatening Roar - Dead Draw, useless because this is an FTK.

 

A wise Yu-Gi-Oh! player once told me, that if you focus your deck on doing the specific combo, it will do it. But if you throw in heaps of "Just in case it doesn't work cards" You are dedicating more resources to if the combo doesn't work, essentially decreasing your chances of pulling off the combo.

 

Thankyou for your reply and the knowledge that Monster Gate is limited (God dammit that was one of my favourite cards). With that knowledge I am going to put in 1 more Magical Stone Excavation so I can get it back because it does really fuel the combo. I will probably put in Toon Cannon Soldier now that I know I have to put less emphasis on getting Monster Gate to work properly. I'm going to add in 3 Cup of Aces for the draw power, so I can run into my 1 Monster Gate faster.

 

I need more ways of reviving Monsters, I checked on the lolwiki and there weren't any good ones though :(. I was thinking add in 2 Malicious, a Disk Commander and 2 D-Draw, what do you think?
