Dark
If you are a vegetarian' date=' living in the USA, and wash your hands, say aye. *Dark says aye* You are the only one that is 100% safe from this flu. Airborne (sp?) spread, also spread thru eating piggly wigglies. I wash mah hands. I'm safe in Boston. =D[/quote'] I'll laugh so hard if you catch it. Now I have Larxene bad luck. Damnit. ~/Coolio Prime\~
We only have pig meats in 1 supermarket chain that has about 5-6 stores only. Not scared at all' date=' I don't eat pigs to begin with.[/quote'] That really matters, since it isn't transfered by eating food…… Also, you're all being idiots. Mexico only lost so many people because their health care sucks. This is just another over-inflated media scare. Remember the Bird Flu?
Raelen
It looks like it has reached the UK. Scotland to be precise. Some people who came back from holiday in Mexico feeling ill and show the symtoms of it.I don't know if this has been confirmed as 'Swine Flu' but they were put in isolation and are being tested for it.It HAS been confirmed to be it' date=' it was on the news as I said. The media will get everyone all worked up and concerned about this for like a month or 3 and then nobody will care. It's not going to be some huge pandemic on the scale of the plague >_> All you have do is wash your friggin hands and you won't catch it. Stop acting like the world is going to end, because a year from now nobody will remember this outbreak. Besides, we already had 4 drugs effective against swine flu. This mutation is susceptible to 2: oseltamivir and zanamivir. If it isn't a big deal, why have people DIED from it? Pl0x just shut up and stop bsing./169 deaths is an incredibly small number compared to other mass destructions of life. 169 lives are insignificant. It's not insignificant for the family and friends of those who have died. If one of your friends die from it, let me know if you feel the same way. -_-

Larxene
^This site needs moar Cirno. I dropped my phone like 20 times today. =\ But, no flu. =D Also, spell EPIDEMIC correctly, please. Even if you DO get it, it's unlikely that you'd die. It's very unlikely that there will ever be a disease as deadly as the plague or anything, unless it's something man-made anyway. Also, no matter what you do, you are NEVER 100% safe from anything, so get that through your head.

I know, but still, deaths are always significant. Just because it's not a bubonic plague (yet) doesn't mean it has no impact on people's lives. Amethyst Phoenix
You know, this strand is actually a combination of the swine, avian, and human flu. This mutation is the main reason why it's so deadly. So one might say that it's Manbirdpig flu? *snicker* (yes I know it's manbearpig, but it sounds similar >_> )
ayy lmao
Well,if you watch the news you obviously know its a mix of avian (bird),pig and human flu.
LiAM
They've been testing it in my area, i thought it was a joke the first time i heard of it, theres a phrase at my school where people would call you a swine if you said something stupid. so swine flu = stupid disease. The_Prince_of_Death
the swine flu will mainly affect children-young adults and not the elderly. it is partially related to the 1970 version but it mutated so drugs used to fight the old one wont work now. over 100 deaths in mexico. only one death in United states (23 month old) that is sort of the basic already known stuff. for me, I am more likely to get the bird flu than the swine flu since I may have already been exposed to the swine flu a while back. I had most of the exact same symptoms.
Monkey
GAH! I live in CA, that means New Mexico can easily transfer it through its immigrants. Also, since it hit the eastern part of the US, I'm sure it'll eventually spread westward... :(
