Lord Ursus
Welcome all. This set is for me, by now finished, as I think I have managed everything I wanted to manage with the cards of the set. I'm pretty happy with the result, but I think I could do better, but as for the moment, I'll put this idea on ice. The monsters are called Stygiax monsters, and they are based upon the Stygian demons of Tartaros, the greek version of hell. I am especially grateful to Opalmoon, who helped me brainstorm and with the mythology. The cards plays by a strategy that is based upon what the top card of your Deck is during your Draw Phase, but you'll see that soon enough. Stygiax - Erebos******DARKFiend/Effect2400 / 300At the beginning of your Draw Phase, reveal the top card of your Deck. Activate the proper effect based on the card: -- "Stygiax" monster: Special Summon the monster. -- Spell or Trap Card: Return it to the bottom of your Deck to have your opponent discard 1 card. Disclaimer: The art is from Magic the Gathering, and I downloaded it from Nightmarian's Picture Archive. http://forum.yugiohcardmaker.net/thread-114309.html Mythology: Erebos is known as the primeval darkness, that filled every corner of the earth in shadow. He is the son of Chaos, and he gave birth to all sort of demons, hence the summoning effect on the card. Erebos is also said to be a part of Hades, the underworld. This card is the first one featuring the strategy of the set, and it is for now the most powerful. Hope you'll enjoy watching how the set evolves with new additions. Stygiax - Nyx****DARKFiend/Effect1600 / 800At the beginning of your Draw Phase, reveal the top card of your Deck. Activate the proper effect based on the card: -- "Stygiax" monster: DARK monsters you control gains 500 ATK until the End Phase. -- Spell or Trap Card: Return it to the bottom of your Deck. Disclaimer: The art is of Father Wolf. http://forum.yugiohcardmaker.net/thread-18348.html Mythology: Nyx is the greek primordial godess of the night. While being the offspring of Chaos, she is said to have stood at or near the beginning of creation, and is the mother of many gods and demons alike. This card is mainly a card made for sweeping your opponent easily, as all of you can see that this card itself would pump up to 500. The downside is that you could send a MST that could get rid of a Level Limit Area B that keeps blocking you. Stygiax - Apate*DARKFiend / Effect700 / 200You can Special Summon this card in your hand by sending 1 DARK Fiend-Type monster from your Deck to the Graveyard. While this card is face-up on the field, whenever the top card of your Deck is revealed, inflict 500 damage to your opponent. Disclaimer: The art is of Father Wolf. http://forum.yugiohcardmaker.net/thread-18348.html Mythology: Apate is the daughter of Nyx, and she is the personification of deceit. She is also said to be one of the plagues that came from Pandora's box. Apate is now deceiving her own kin, something that suits her describtion better than the previous versions of it. It is also an extremely convenient or perhaps OP card in a deck that needs some summoning, be it either getting out a Wicked God or for a Synchro Summon. Stygiax - Moros****DARKFiend / Effect700 / 2100At the beginning of your Draw Phase, reveal the top card of your Deck. Activate the proper effect based on the card: -- "Stygiax" monster: Send it to the Graveyard to destroy 1 face-down Card on the field. -- Spell or Trap Card: Send 1 card in your hand to the Graveyard. Disclaimer: The art is of Magic, the Gathering. http://www.mtgstaples.com/2943/index.html Mythology: In greek mythology, Moros was the personification of inpending doom, who brings all living beings to their fated doom. He is the son of Nyx and Erebos, and is said to be omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient at once. Not even Zeus, the king of the olympian gods can defeat him. This card can be used in a combination with Apate to send all your opponent's defences straight to the Graveyard. And this card actually let you use the Spell and Trap cards you reveal by its effect. With this card being the god of impending doom, I thought he could spread some... well... doom. Stygiax - Geras**DARKFiend / Effect800 / 500At the beginning of your Draw Phase, reveal the top card of your Deck. Activate the proper effect based on the card: -- "Stygiax" monster: Negate the effects of all cards your opponent controls during this turn. -- Spell or Trap Card: You lose 500 Life Points. Disclaimer: The art is Marvel's. http://forum.yugiohcardmaker.net/thread-119610.html Mythology: Geras is the primordial of old age. He was the son of Nyx and Erebos, and is usually depicted as a shrivelled up old man, but I didn't find any good image for that, so... To use for freezing your opponent's Mirror Forces and Sekuretsu Armors for the turn, but I think the effect speaks clearly for itself. I wanted to make an effect that shows how all beings weaken when exposed to old age, and the ability to cancel out any effect your opponent controls, I think, is a good images on how you actually lose your powers as an old man. (Or woman) Wastes of TartarosField Spell CardWhenever the top card of your Deck is revealed, place 1 Counter on this card. During your Standby Phase, gain 100 Life Points for each of those Counters. Once per turn, you can remove 5 Counters from this card to Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower "Stygiax" monster from your Deck. The Special Summoned monster can't attack this turn. Disclaimer: The art is found at Nightmarian's archive, which I above have give a link to. Mythology: Tartaros is the greek version of hell, and the house of demons. This card is very handy in this set, as it lets you gain a lot of Life Points, and letting you swarm the field with new monsters. I might also make Spell and Trap Cards that reveal the top card of the deck, so that this card will be very useful. Cursed PactNormal TrapIf you activate this Set card on the field, you lose the duel. When this card is revealed from the top of your Deck by the effect of a "Stygiax" monster, send it to the Graveyard. During your End Phase, if this card is in your Graveyard, and it was sent there by its own effect, activate 1 of the following effects: -- Special Summon 1 "Stygiax" monster from your Graveyard. -- Draw 1 card for each monster destroyed during this turn. -- Destroy 1 Spell or Trap card on the field. -- Look at the top 4 cards of your Deck and put them back in any order. -- Both players discards 2 cards. Disclaimer: The art is of Magic, the Gathering. http://magicdeckvortex.com This card is one of the most terrifying cards in the set, as it's many possibilities can bring many an opponent down to their knees in an array of ways. The first and fourth effect works perfect in the set, and I think you see clearly why. One problem that may occour is that I have it in my opening hand. Let's see if I solve that problem in due time... Dark VisionContinuous Spell CardIf this card is revealed from your Deck by the effect of a "Stygiax" monster, look at your opponent's hand and select a Spell or Trap Card from it. Your opponent discards that card. Once per turn, you can pay 300 Life Points to place 1 card from your hand at the top of your Deck. Disclaimer: The art is of Magic, the Gathering. http://magicdeckvortex.com As I said in the summary of Cursed Pact, I really needed something that could be affective if it ends up in my hand, so this card is the right spell for the job. Also helps milling the opponent. I also updated this card to be working well with the archetype, before it triggers what will most likely be a negative effect. Shadow VengeanceNormal Trap CardThis card can only be activated when your opponent destroys a face-up "Stygiax" monster you control by battle. Destroy the attacking monster and place the destroyed monster to the top of your deck. Disclaimer: The art is of Magic, the Gathering. http://magicdeckvortex.com Kale was as nice as to give me some guide-lines, and I try my best to follow them, and one of the guide-lines told me that I needed a Trap Card to change the top card of the Deck, so this card became a solid attack-counter for the set, while still manipulating the next draw. Stygiax - Eris****DARKFiend / Effect1800 / 0When an opponent's monster attacks, reveal the top card of your Deck. -- "Stygiax" monster: This card gains 300 ATK and the attacking monster loses 300 ATK. -- Spell or Trap Card: Switch this card into Defense Position. When this card is destroyed by battle, you can add 1 "Stygiax" monster from your Deck to your hand. Disclaimer: The art is from danscottart.com http://www.danscottart.com/ Mythology: Eris is the offspring of Nyx and Erebos, and is the embodiement of strife and discord. One of the more annoying cards of the set. (For your opponent's part). He is able of quite a bit, being able to burn, add a free card in your deck to your hand, AND cutting your opponent's attacks down to size. Force DominionContinuous Trap Card"Stygiax" monsters you control gains 300 ATK. When an opponent's monster attacks, you can place 1 Monster Card from your hand to the top of your Deck to inflict 700 damage to your opponent's Life Points. When there is no cards in your hand, destroy this card. Disclaimer: The art is from Nightmarian's archive. Being able to block an attack, and increasing the ATK of all your "Stygiax" monsters, this card is very handy in this set, as they work best when they can survive to the next turn. The most important part of this card however, is that it lets you manipulate the top card of the Deck. It also works extremely well with Eris. Stygian CurseContinuous Spell CardSpecial Summon 1 "Stygiax" monster from your Graveyard. Whenever the top card of your Deck is revealed by the effect of the Summoned monster, inflict 300 damage to your opponent. Disclaimer: The art is from Magic, the Gathering. This card helps Special Summon monsters from your Graveyard, as well as burning your opponent quite frequently. I figured the set needed some basic support. Stygiax - Nemesis****DARKFiend / Effect1300 / 200At the beginning of your Draw Phase, reveal the top card of your Deck. -- "Stygiax" monster: This card can attack your opponent directly this turn. If this card attacks this way, destroy it during the End Phase. -- Spell or Trap Card: If this card is in your Graveyard, Special Summon it in face-up Defense Position. Disclaimer: The art is of wanderley. Mythology: Nemesis is the ancient goddes of retribution and revenge. This card is a Level 4 tuner, which allows some easy Synchro Summons, so all the Synchro monsters of this set will have a level different than 8. That besides, this card is the only one of these that can interact from your Graveyard, which can result in a surprise for the opponent. Khaos the Primordial Mother**********DARKFiend / Effect? / ?This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned by Tributing 3 "Stygiax" monsters you control. This card counts as a "Stygiax" monster. When this card is Summoned, reveal the top cards of your Deck until you have revealed 2 DARK monsters. This card's ATK and DEF becomes equal to the number of cards revealed x 1000. During your Standby Phase, reveal the top card of your Deck. If you reveal a "Stygiax" monster, destroy all monsters your opponent controls. Disclaimer: The art is from deviantart. http://www.deviantart.com/ Mythology: Khaos is the ancient greek goddess of the sky, and is the very void itself, while being the first being and mother of countless of creatures. She is also said to be the true foundation of reality. This is, without question, the flagship of the set. It has a devasting effect, if you reveal the right card, but could end up with only 2000 ATK and DEF, and is not immune to Spells or Traps, so it's not invincible, but powerful, yes. :) Stygiax - Thanatos***DARKFiend / Effect900 / 900During your opponent's End Phase, if this card is in your Graveyard, you can add it to the top of your Deck. When this card is Special Summoned, you can Special Summon 1 "Stygiax" monster from your Graveyard except "Stygiax - Thanatos". Disclaimer: The art is from deviantart. http://www.deviantart.com/ Mythology: Thanatos is the demonic personification of death. I would say it's pretty obvious why this card got a place in the set. ;P Charon of Styx*****DARKFiend / Synchro / Effect1900 / 17001 "Stygiax" Tuner monster + 1 or more non-Tuner monsterThis card gains 100 ATK and DEF for each "Stygiax" monster in your Graveyard. As long as this card is face-up on the field, inflict 700 damage to your opponent each time a monster is Special Summoned. Disclaimer: The art is from deviantart. http://www.deviantart.com/ Mythology: Charon is the ferryman that leads dead souls over the river of Styx. First synchro in the set. Yay... Also works well with burning the opponent. Cerberus, Beast of Tartaros*******DARKFiend / Synchro / Effect2700 / 17001 "Stygiax" Tuner monster + 1 or more non-Tuner monsterIn addition to this card's normal attack, it can attack once again for each "Stygiax" monster you control. Damage done to your opponent by these attacks is 0. "Stygiax" monsters you control cannot be destroyed by Trap Cards. Disclaimer: The art is from deviantart. http://www.deviantart.com/ Mythology: Cerberus is the guardian of the gates of Hades, to prevent those inside Tartaros from ever escaping. The second Synchro in the set, this card houses incredible beating, being able to destroy tons of monsters and ensure the safety of your "Stygiax" monsters. Stygiax GrimoireNormal TrapThis card can only be activated during a turn you Special Summoned 2 or more "Stygiax" monsters. Look at the top 10 cards of your Deck, then put them back in any order. I think you will all see why this card belongs in the set. ;)

Exa Raiun
Without seeing more cards for that set, it's kinda hard to judge their balance, but it looks like an interesting idea. For Stygiax - Erebos, I give 8.5/10 (it has potential, if the other Stygiax monsters will be effective), and for Stygiax - Nyx, I give 8/10 (its boosts and drawbacks seem to be balanced well). Doom_Shaman
excellent cards :D this set will be monsterous when its done one piece of advice tho, these cards would make spell and trap cards obsolete. cuz theyd all get stacked at the bottom of your deck withing a few turns. id add an actual effect for if you pick up a spell or trap :D 9/10 PLUS the idea of using greek demonology is like a five star idea
Lord Ursus
Thank you Exa Raiun and fiendmaster4. And fiendmaster4, the set isn't finished yet, so you can be sure that something will come up that makes their drawback playable. ;)

Kale
alrighty, this set looks interesting.. though i would like to ask for some specific things: More "Out of the Box" Monster supportSome monsters that support negative effects if you draw one of themselves and positive effects with Spell/Traps?Some Special Summon abilities to get more of them?[*]Some Spells and Traps for majorly needed supportA DRAW card! This is needed badly. A Trap that adds cards onto the top of your deck, either from your hand or from your Graveyard, or both. A Trap card that topdecks yourself to prevent destruction, perhaps? A Spell that changes the top card of your deck? And i have one question, if you reveal the top card of your deck, would you still be able to draw that turn, no matter the effect, since it is activated at the start of the draw phase? And if it activates at the start of the draw phase, wouldnt that allow only one monster's effect to activate per turn? Maybe to avoid that from happening, you could change the OCG to: "Before your normal draw during your Draw Phase" or something similar. ;) A very interesting idea, and i am rather fond of it. thank you for sending the PM for me to see it. :D [8/10] currently.. ~Kale. Lord Ursus
Thank you both. Kale: You would still be able to draw a card when the effect resolves, and all of the monsters have their effects activated. Note that it stands: "At the beginning of your Draw Phase", so that's pretty close to what you suggested. Thank you so much for the guide-lines! I am currently working on some spell and trap cards to boost the set, and I had some spell or traps planned that works well when revealed. ;) rookie: I'm so glad you liked them. :D Your rating is very appreciated.
