New topic.

Why is table spelled like "table" in America' date=' when it sounds like "tabel". Is there any rule that l is always before e? =\

[/quote']

Here's the rule: You spell a word like mate by adding e to the end of mat. The e is bossy because it bosses the other vowel in the word to make a long sound or to shout out its name. Here are a few words that show e doing its thing: plate, mate, lake, Pete, scene, ride, hide, mine, rode, bone, hope, cute, mule and tune.

When a vowel makes a long sound, it's the same sound as its name. e makes the vowel (in the word it tags onto) have a long sound or shout out its name.

More copy/pasta ftw.

Here's a serious answer: "Tsk". It's a three-letter word with no vowels that appears in the Oxford English Dictionary (and is therefore officially recognized as a real word) and is an onomatopoeia for the dental click.

Here's a retarded answer: Anything where Y acts as a vowel. Don't be stupid.

American teachings are stupid, if they weren't we wouldn't be in an economic hellhole. And Im an american, damnit.

A,E,I,O,U, and Y are vowels. In every word there is a vowel. If there is no vowel other than Y, then Y becomes the vowel.

Why did you neg me? Jericho? I don't know what you're talking about' date=' I'm not an American so why call me retarded? Why neg me? I'm gonna report you for this if won't remove it

[/quote']

oh so all americans are retarded?

he's not saying American's are retarded. I am just wondering how you got "Americans are retarded" from the context. Personally, I am an American, and I am legally a genius so you must be someone who doesn't understand what they're saying.

"A cwm (pronounced /ˈkuːm/) is a deep hollow within a mountain, usually with steep edges, such as the Western Cwm of Mount Everest. However, it is nearly always spelled combe (as in Ilfracombe and Castle Combe), coomb (as in J. R. R. Tolkien) or comb (as in Alfred, Lord Tennyson)."

Google ftw?

JERICHO' date=' I told you to remove your NEG to me!!! And why Crab Helmet Negs me? For what cause? And I'm not Flaming. Don't be mean to others just because you're a Super Mod. That is abusing of powers

[/quote']

This certainly looks like flaming to me:

Didn't you study kindergarten? Or are you just a NOOB? A E I O U are vowels. BCDFGHJKLMNPQRSTVWXYZ are consonants' date=' he is asking for a word that doesn't need a vowel, not a word that does not have vowel sounds. Are you a toddler classman? Study again noob. Don't be affected by those, it's serious.

[/quote']

Also, I don't need to use mod powers to point out that you're being thick, so it's not an abuse of power at all.

Come back when you're not twelve years old, kay?

Flaming??? AHHH! I'll stop this' date=' I'll report you about this. I'm not flaming

[/quote']

Saying that someone didn't study kindergarten, is a n00b, is a "toddler classman" (whatever that was supposed to mean), and is a n00b (again) is flaming by any sensible definition. And I pride myself on being a man who uses sensible definitions. I also pride myself on having an excellent hairstyle.

You can report me to whoever you like, little boy. I could use a laugh.

Why are u mean? Because you're a mod?

I lol'd.

The last rule is a safeguard that any forum will use. To use it in Crabs case would prove his immaturity, which I'm sure he himself wouldn't stand for.

In one way, a word with Y in it is a word without a vowel. In another way, it's a word with a vowel. I read somewhere it's like a half-vowel, as someone has already said. All I can say is, it depends on your point of view or what you've been taught. I don't see Y as a vowel, however.
