「tea.leaf」
I reviewed the casualty statistics from Pearl Harbor while researching for an English paper. Of the approximately 2400 Americans killed, only about 60 of them were civilians, which is about 2.3%. It's obvious that Pearl Harbor was a well-calculated attack, but a 97.7% success rate is quite impressive. This is ruling out Nanjing Massacre and other sieges upon China, of course. Guest JoshIcy
Umm...Have you been to Pearl Harbor and the bases? Barely any civilians. They have small malls and stuff, but again. Barely any civilians. If their main focus was the weapon stuff. It's only natural that very few non-military people would get hit. Random Fact: I <3 Hickam Naval Base

Guest JoshIcy
Lol. On Hawaii's slowest day no less.Sunday is usually when all the Luau and Church stuff happen. People sleep in, and the state is pretty much completely mellow. Do that on a Tuesday, they wouldn't have been so lucky.

Although I do understand the economic bind the US put Japan on, but I guess war will be war.
tommers2008
Its all fair in love and war... It was sneaky, but it was a smart move, turned out to be bad move but at the time was a massive blow to America...

Man0waR
yes. I like researching WW2. Mostly the western European front but some pacific. Three Carriers launched approximately 300 Zero Fighters, Val Dive Bombers, and Kate Torpedo Planes. The Zeroes were the best fighters in the pacific at the time and had awesome range, so the weren't hard to manage. The bombers , had less range but they went in waves so that hardly mattered. It was a suprise attack, so the Japanese had a huge advantage. All they had to do was sink 1 ship at the harbor entrance, luckily they didn't. The Japanese lost 29 planes. 7 of those planes were from 2 ace Army Pilots from a small ragtag airfield just off the Island. The rest were from AA fire. There. If you want European war history, I got it.

Man0waR
well, if you think about why Japan won pearl Harbor, the element of suprise fueled their success. If the battleships were ready and the planes in the air, we wouldn't have lost our fleet. Thus the outcome of the war would be a little better. BUT, looking at the Taffy three engagement with Center force (with the most powerful Japanese ships ever. Including Yamato, the biggest ship ever made.) taffy three only had a few destroyer escorts (tiny destroyers.) and some bombers. And this group of 13 of the smallest warship class ships ever made for the U.S completely obliderated the biggest and baddest fleet ever. Japan looked kinda wimpy after that. Japanese=pwnd by midget American hahaha
OMGAKITTY
Japan attacking Pearl Harbor pretty much equates to a little Asian man running up to a Grizzly Bear and smacking it on the nose with a stick. Not a smart move.

RickiMinaj
Hell yea we do! xD But japan was strictly told to apologize for pearl harbor, so technically, aren't America and Japan on even ground?

So the Soviets wouldn't come in and spread communism, leading to yet ANOTHER freaking war against commies in Asia (because we didn't have enough of those in the following years).
