Hi, I'm pretty much new here...

How could you be new if you a former mod and have liek 7' date='000 posts :/

Well... there's this funny little thing called hydrostatic equilibrium:

Hydrostatic equilibrium is the reason stars don't implode, or explode. In astrophysics, in any given layer of a star, there is a balance between the thermal pressure (outward) and the weight of the material above pressing downward (inward). This balance is called hydrostatic equilibrium. A star is like a balloon. In a balloon, the gas inside the balloon pushes outward and the atmospheric pressure plus the elastic material supply just enough inward compression to balance the gas pressure. In the case of a star, the star's internal gravity supplies the inward compression. The isotropic gravitational field compresses the star into the most compact shape possible: a sphere.

Basically, a star in our Galaxy, now known as supernova remnant "G1.9+0.3", indeed went supernova. However, due to the laws of hydrostatic equilibrium from above, it didn't really "explode" (send stellar debris outward) or "implode" (pull stellar debris inward), but merely "blew up" and stayed the same size as it was beforehand.

Using some binoculars and information from May 14 last year, whilst on a space-walk to repair the Hubble Space Telescope last week, Space Shuttle Atlantis crew member, and personal friend of mine, John Grunsfeld, successfully located and observed "G1.9+0.3" for a full three minutes! Upon his return to Earth, he called me and told me about what he saw, and claimed that he had seen visual, Morse-coded variations in the aparent magnitute of the supernova remnant, which he deciphered as saying "Frung mud gore blast to Y.C.M., order lens!" He figured the message must've been Klingon, so he used Marc Orkand's "The Klingon Dictionary" to translate, ending with a result roughly the same as "Frunk must return to YCM, or else!"

Scared for the safety of humanity, here I am! But there's a twist, this thread! As you pointed out, I appear to be a former moderator with an abhorrently large post count, but in fact, this is untrue. You see, "Frunk" is a lie - one I created a few days ago when I "returned". As a matter of fact, he never existed before then - to make it convincing, I planted memories in all the "YCM veterans" of a "Frunk" fellow, and also successfully hacked into Google's search engine records and tampered with them to cover my tracks.

So, I thought it fitting to reveal my elaborate plot to you, because you asked without using a question mark. ;)

No, I'm not new, obviously - it was a joke.

Since I'm going to be making a return to cyberspace, I'm going to create a new email, which I will use for MSN as well (my current email is one I need to keep clean for private business), so I shall add it to my signature once it's ready (probably in a few hours). ;)

  • 1 year later...

This thread is over a year old. There was no reason to revive it, that is known as a necrobump and against forum rules.

Thread locked, warning issued, and most importantly, well done to everyone who reported this and refrained from adding a meaningless post of their own; it's a step in the right direction. ;)
