Time Travel

God, I could do a whole paper on this. As me and Browarod have discussed it.

But one must remember, Time as a name was given by man. Time as it is, was not. It's something that says "it takes this long for this object to get this far". So thus, time was always there. People who say Time is man made. Don't ever do that.

Time travel is not possible in the traditional sense. Because, time is constantly moving forward no matter what you're doing, how you're doing it. It is moving forward in time.

Thus, the only solution to moving backwards in time, would be to enter that whole Multiverse Theory. Where there exists an infinite number of universes. This can be taken that everything is happening at a different time in another universe. Therefore, in order to go back in time. One must travel to a dimension where, what is happening then is happening now.

But that in itself brings up problems. As there is no way to tell the progression level of this new universe, or that exact events will happen as they did in your "original" universe. Then there is the problem of, even if you go back through to your era. You will have already existed, thus no longer being able to assume your traditional role, as it were. This forward in time would simply be a stasis (to those who aren't catching on).

Therefore;

Traveling to other Dimensions = Time Travel to the Past.

Time Travel to the future is easy xD.

Who would ever say that time is man made? O_o

Also time is universal. That's the part where people get confused and say that time was completely made by man. Time doesn't have specific areas where it is different than another place. Time itself is literally... a constant... If it's 1:42 AM here and its 2:42 PM in Hiroshima, Japan... then the time (by human definition) is different. In which case, time is created by humans. However, the time that it is now, is the same as it is anywhere else. It's just dark here, and it isn't there.

You all thinking in the wrong way. Time Travel is improbable' date=' not impossible. I believe anything is possible, if you look at it in the right way. But any how, Time is a man made thing, which relatively straight forward. Also, that traveling is possible. So, when you pair the two up, the only way to do it is by thinking you were in the past even though you weren't. Time is manmade, theoretical speaking, their is no time. If thier is no time, their is no time travel. You have already traveled in all times. But yet, if you think about it, you can still do time travel, but that is what I think.

No chance. It is impossible' date=' you would get ripped to pieces or disentegrate.

Well to tell you the truth theoretically it is possible but only in theory. In Einstein work he did state that time travel was possible. How I don't really know, I am know where near a expert in his filed of study so I could not tell you indepth on how it is possible but! Possible nonetheless. Like they said it was impossible to go faster then the speed of sound, but it was done. they said it was impossible to go to the Moon, but it was done. Its all a question of man power, dedication and well wealth. But where not going to see a TARDIS any time soon so...

Those were said to be impossible on the grounds that it was too hard, not on the grounds that the very laws of physics would make it completely impossible for any matter to achieve those goals.

Time travel is impossible as time is a concept.

You can heighten or minimize your molecular structure where you move faster or slower, and it would appear to others that you are moving in time.

Just like the matrix, when Neo dodges the bullets on the roof, he doesn't use time travel to slow down the bullets, he's just so fast, that they played it in slow motion.

Hopefully you know what I mean.

Wait. If we are in light' date=' we're traveling at the speed of light.

LOOPHOLE ALERT

Kind of like how if you're standing on the side of the road and see a car go by, you're going the speed of that car.

Yes. This is exactly what I meant. If an object is moving at any speed, the rest of the objects in that matter (air, anyone?) moves at at least that speed.

I saw this in a show in, I think Discovery Channel. It says that yes, time travel to the future is possible, but time travel to the past is impossible. Also if, for example, you traveled to the past and killed your parents. When you come back to the present, you will still be alive. What you did in the past will actually be a "parallel dimension". This will happen of course, if you look at it using physics and all that other stuff...

Time travel is theoretically possible' date=' but we wouldn't be able to go back before the point that time-travel was discovered, which explains why we don't have any travelers from the future now. ;D

Do you have any grounds on which to make this claim, or was it just something you read in a sci-fi story that sounded cool?

LOL sounds kinda like Stephen King's The Langoliers. If you haven't heard of it, it's this movie where this airplane accidentally goes back in time and the past turns out to be uninhabited and nothing works. Plus everything is aged or something idk e.g. some guy tried a beer and it was flat. Then they find out that these things called langoliers destroy (eat) what we leave behind (the past). Weird movie people. These are langoliers in front of a guy (lol). Behind them is the airplane.

  • 3 weeks later...

It could be plausible if you could find a way to change the particles in yourself to be energy that doesn't move in time, then technically you would be in the past because if you were a human you would be farther ahead then what you are then. But then the problem of changing your particles comes to the picture, it's all just an endless explantion (or so it seems so).

discuss time travel

What if I went back in time and killed my great-grandfather?

Then he would be dead.

Meaning I would also have to be dead.

Meaning I could not have killed him.

Meaning he would be alive.

Meaning I would also be alive.

Meaning I would have killed him.

Then he would be dead.

Meaning I would also have to be dead.

Meaning I could not have killed him.

Meaning he would be alive.

Meaning I would also be alive.

Meaning I would have killed him.

Then he would be dead.

Meaning I would also have to be dead.

Meaning I could not have killed him.

Meaning he would be alive.

Meaning I would also be alive.

Meaning I would have killed him.

Then he would be dead.

Meaning I would also have to be dead.
