Prologue

Rules were made for the welfare of the citizens of Duel Monster world. The rules had been placed thousands of years ago by the three Gods as a standard of living, in hopes everyone could live in harmony. The rules were long, but they were important to ensure chaos, corruption and confusion would not break out. For years everyone abode the rules and all was well.

Until…
Chapter One

Rule no. 1 (The Decree of Normal Monsters): Any insults to Normal monsters – including use of racial language (especially ‘Vanilla’), bullying, racial treatment, unprovoked attack, and purpose ignorance – is strictly forbidden

***

The sky was always the home for fairies within the world. It was always the perfect place for them, especially with the ancient Sanctuary, standing tall and proud. The ancient marble building stood amongst the clouds, the blood sweat and tears of the fairies. They could never agree on which section of the Sanctuary was their main masterpiece. The only thing they could possibly agree on was the building was a work of polished art.

Every story has a hero/heroine or two (or maybe a few more), and this story starts with a normal Petit Angel. She was gently floating in the air, her ocean-blue wings – the size of a long ink cartridge – wide open. She was allowing the wind to slowly blow her round orange body wherever it wished to take her. Her golden halo was still floating above her body like she was magnetic and the halo was a metal.

She liked being free like this. It was her personal “me time”, as she called it. She could see nothing but a seemingly-endless (and it probably was endless) patch of white, wispy cloud, and the faint blue colour of a nice sky. The hot sun, which was a burning orb of light, was shining behind her back. She could feel her back warming as the sunrays hit her directly. She didn’t mind; it was always nice to have the sun showing his burning appreciation for you.

“Cece!” she heard someone cry from behind her. Curious to know who, Cece used her wings to spin round and for several seconds thought a magneta question mark and a pair of small buttermilk-coloured wings had spoke – until she saw a cloud-white square shape coming closer. The square shaped monster was leaping from side to side like he was jumping from tree to tree. His tiny wings were flapping, trying to make him fly, but were fruitlessly failing.

“Hi Jake,” said Cece in a high voice. Her voice sounded as if she was constantly having a daydream. She closed her wings and delicately landed on the soft cloud beneath her feet. She waited for the leaping Mokey Mokey to join her. “I nearly didn’t see you.” She always wondered how Jake could see through his closed eyes; every time she saw him they were always closed.

“Can’t help it dudette,” he said. He sounded very relaxed, like he was spending his entire time lazing on a beach. “I was born as white as these clouds, and I will always be as white as these clouds.”

“What’s the matter?” asked Cece. “I’ve never heard you call me by my real name unless it’s something important.”

“Oh that,” said Jake, now snuggling into the warmth of the clouds like it was his bed. The clouds felt like comfy cotton wool – exactly what Jake liked. “The Five Headed Dragon has been captured.” Cece’s mouth dropped open – the most powerful ruler of the dragons ever, captured? It sounded impossible – how could he have been captured? Jake obviously saw – or sensed – her reaction. “Chill out dudette, we’ve got nothing related to it.” He was becoming very cosy.

“What’re we waiting for?” demanded Cece, excitement in her voice. She jumped and her wings opened, allowing her to stay airborne. She loved an adventure and hated sitting around doing nothing – the exact opposite of Jake. “Come on, let’s go and save the Five Headed Dragon!” Jake just stayed lying in the cloud.

“Chill out dudette,” he said as nonchalant as ever. “Someone better qualified than us will rescue him. Just relaaaaaaaaa-!” He never got to finish the word, as Cece had already grabbed his hand, forcefully pulled him out of his comfortable makeshift blanket and into the air. The wind was backing Cece, enabling her to fly faster. “Where are we going dudette?”

“To the Royal Library of course!” she answered impatiently, her wings flapping hurriedly like she was being chased by enemies. “Where else are we going to go to find out how to rescue the Five Headed Dragon?”

“Dudette, this has nothing to do with us,” protested Jake. He had not raised his voice, nor was he struggling; he was keeping as calm as ever. “Put me down.”

“Who wants to sit around doing nothing all day?” demanded Cece. “This is something exciting! We can be heroes!” Unfortunately she wasn’t the brightest fairy you could be friends with (and nor was Jake for that matter) but she had a lot of determination … and an indescribable passion for adventure. However no one had ever told her adventures were glamorous or easy. Instead, it was something for her to find out as they headed towards the Sanctuary in the Sky, home to the Royal Library.

lol DA, the only reason I gave them names is caus I dont wanna keep writing out their monster titles over and over again (very true in the case of the ones with the longer titles)

To me if I kept writing "Petit Angel" over and over again it does become a bit too repetitive
Chapter Two

It took Cece five minutes to reach the Sanctuary, while still holding onto Jake. He didn’t mind too much; it was quite nice being up in the air. It was just a shame his tiny wings couldn’t support his body in flight. But then again, if he was born not to be able to independently fly, then he wouldn’t be able to independently fly.

Cece felt her excitement rise as they reached the foot of the first set of stairs leading to the Sanctuary. In fact, through her excitement, she completely forgot about Jake and began to fly up the stairs, accidently banging Jake’s head against every step as she progressed.

“Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow,” said Jake with every hit his head took. Eventually Cece heard him and, realizing her mistake, blushed slightly as she let go of him. The two fairies sat down at the topmost step. Jake was busy rubbing his head in an attempt to ease the pain, while Cece just stared at the damage she had done. They sat down for about five minutes, then went up the second set of steps, and entered the grand hall. While Jake walked across the marble-floored hall, Cece kept flying ahead with excitement, then stopping and waiting impatiently for Jake to hurry up.

“Come on,” she kept saying to him. “Stop wasting time and get over here now!” This made Jake toss his head back slightly as a way of rolling his eyes. At least he actually did move faster every time she spoke. It felt like an eternity but eventually they crossed the hall, arriving at the base of the angel statue. One of the finest things about the Sanctuary was that the Royal Library was really the body of the angel. It was a magnificent round tower with a total of 500 floors, all of which was owned by the Dark Sage.

“Dudette, remind me why we’re here,” said Jake as they crossed the black marble entrance arch into the library.

“To rescue the Five Headed Dragon, we’re going to need the help of the best Spellcaster – Dark Magician of course! We need the Magic Formula to guide us to him! Everyone knows the Formula always finds either Dark Magician or his girl apprentice when it’s not being held back,” answered Cece in a forced whisper. She thought she could hear Jake quietly gulp.

“The Magic Formula?” he repeated, also whispering, as if Cece just said something offensive. “That’s a Forbidden Book dudette, and it’s on the very top floor.”

***

Rule no. 2: Only authorised personnel may access the Forbidden Books in the Royal Library.

“We’ve got no choice Jake,” said Cece. “We need his help. Listen, we’ll go up to the 499th floor, then wait until it’s empty before we fly up to the 500th floor, find the Formula and get out of the library.” It was clear it had never occurred to her how they could smuggle the Formula out. She saw Jake look at her, then he shrugged.

“Whatever you say dudette,” he said. They knew the easiest way to reach the highest level was to stand on a coffin-shaped hoverboard thing with an emerald green glow underneath. Cece grabbed onto Jake’s hand again and dragged him to an empty board. Once again he made no resistance; instead he silently protested as he was dragged like a doll. Cece let go of him when they had got onto a board. A librarian stood at the wider end. He had a keypad in front of him.

“Good afternoon, where would you like to go?” he asked.

“499th floor,” answered Cece. The librarian typed in a code on the keypad and the board shot upwards. Although each floor had barriers to stop anyone from falling off the edge, there was a wide gate at each floor in order to allow guests to disembark from the boards. As the board arrived at its destination, the gates opened.

“499th floor,” said the librarian as Jake and Cece stepped off the board. “Have a good day sir, madam.” The gates closed behind the two fairies and the board dropped down to the ground level again.

The two fairies dawdled. They (or rather Cece) went round the entire floor once, just to check it was empty. The moment she returned to Jake, who was still stood by the gate, she leaned over the edge and saw not a single board was in sight. She knew now was their chance.

“Come on, let’s go,” she whispered to Jake. Without warning she jumped and opened her wings, then grabbed Jake by the hand and flew over the railings of the 499th floor and swiftly onto the 500th floor. She didn’t dare land until they were as far away as possible from the railings of the floor, before letting go of Jake. “Smell for leather.”

“Whatever you say dudette.” They took in a big sniff and was excited when they were met with a heavy smell of leather – until they realised over half the books had leather-bound covers. Cece couldn’t help but feel disappointed; this really wasn’t going to be as easy as she had thought.

Left with no choice, they tiptoed between the shelves, reading the spine of the books. It was becoming a tedious task. There were books in lost languages; books so thin it was rendered invisible when lodged between two fat books; there were also books with so much dust on their spine it had turned white. Nor were they neatly organised; on some shelves they sat upright, neatly organised, whereas on others they were slouched sideways, leaning on another for support, or were entirely lying on its side with other books squashing it.

Cece made sure Jake kept close to her; if they were caught before they could retrieve the Formula, at least she could quickly grab onto him and try and get out. She had tried to look through the Book of Secret Arts – which had been left lying around on a table – for any hints on how to easily find the Magic Formula; she gave up when she discovered the entire book was made up of complex words and confusing diagrams.

“Dudette, is this it?” asked Jake suddenly. Cece flew over to him and saw he was pointing at a book on the topmost shelf. She flew upwards and looked at the spine of the book he was pointing at. It looked like it; she tilted her body diagonally so she could read the spine.

“Ma … gic … For … mu … la …” she read. Although she could read and write, she barely used those skills. Then she smiled and she pulled the book off the shelf.

For several seconds there was silence. Suddenly an alarm blared around the entire library. Cece was beginning to panic; how were they going to get out? She swooped down just as every single board appeared at their floor and shoved the Formula into Jake’s hands before picking him up around the waist.

“Stop thieves!” bellowed the librarians as they leapt over the railings. The moment they landed, laser beams shot up until it came into contact with the ceiling, blocking the two fairies from escaping over the railings. At once Cece attempted to fly away, but the librarians had them surrounded. Left with no choice, Cece let out a high-pitched scream which immediately knocked over a bookcase full of old, heavy books. The librarians cried out as they lunged forwards to save the precious books.

Taking the chance of this momentous distraction, Cece flew over the librarians’ heads, with no idea what to do next. Their only escape was gone; the best they could possibly do was to fly round and round in circles until hopefully the librarians would be too dizzy to continue chasing them. Unless…

Cece suddenly stopped when they were exactly opposite the librarians. She immediately searched the shelves for something, something, they could use. Pigeonholing Book of Spells … no, not helpful … Book of Taiyou … not really … Book of Life … she wasn’t after performing Necromancy at this very moment … Book of Moon … maybe … Book of Eclipse … maybe …

By now the librarians had managed to rescue the bookcase and immediately ran after Cece. At once she began to fly, and was careful to keep herself adjacent to the librarians. The two groups ran round in a full circle before suddenly the librarians split into two groups and ran in opposite directions, closing in on Cece and Jake.

“Cece, do something!” cried Jake. Cece thought she would never hear him sound so frightened.

“Like what?” demanded Cece, also scared. Her eyes darted to the foot of the bookcases and saw they were all padlocked down. It seemed as if there would be no way out now …

“Anything, dudette, anything!” By the time his words left his mouth, the two librarian groups were just an arm’s length away from grabbing Jake and Cece. The librarians walked menacingly, their sleeves drawn back to reveal their bare arms. Their fingers were slightly bent, and they were ready to lunge and catch the two powerless fairies …

The situation was grinded to a halt as a sudden, brief flash of golden light blinded everyone. When it had cleared a tall woman with six white wings, elbow-length amethyst-coloured hair, and a lemon yellow dress had appeared. Both Cece and Jake dropped their jaws when they saw the woman. Cece’s eyes were shining – they were saved! A Wingweaver, one of the closest races of fairies to the Gods, had arrived!

***

Rule no. 3: Never accept help from a Wingweaver, unless the situation is dire.

***

The Wingweaver said nothing but clicked her left fingers. A Book of Moon flew off a shelf and hovered in front of her. She merely passed her hand over the cover and it opened at the middle pages. A pale crimson aura surrounded the book, and suddenly all the librarians were forced into kneeling position, their arms crossed over their body, their heads forced down.

“Hurry,” said the Wingweaver. Her voice was deep, majestic with an angel’s glory, and full of wisdom. “The Book’s effect will not remain for long.” She turned around and held onto Cece and Jake. There was a flash of white light, and when it had cleared Cece and Jake were gone, and so was the Wingweaver.

Many many miles away from the Sanctuary, three fairies re-appeared above the clouds. Cece let go of Jake, who landed face-first into the soft clouds. He would have liked to stay that way for a bit longer if the Formula wasn’t shaking in his arms, demanding for him to let go. He pushed himself back onto his legs and handed the Magic Formula to the Wingweaver. She said nothing but took it.

Cece and Jake kept quiet as they watched the Wingweaver pull the key out of the book. Instead she placed it in the lock and turned it. The leather fell off to reveal a thick volume with a silver-coloured cover. For half a minute it stayed still in the Wingweaver’s arms. Then it suddenly floated into the air and disappeared at the blink of an eye.

“Where did it go?” asked Cece in a half-cry. If they could never find the Formula again, their efforts would have been wasted.

“It has gone to find its rightful master,” explained the Wingweaver. “Don’t worry Cece, we will find it again.” She held up the key. “As long as we have the key, it will guide us to the Formula.”

“How … did you know my name?” asked Cece, stunned. She knew she had never told the Wingweaver her name, so how did she know? She watched the Wingweaver smile.

“The Lords Obelisk, Slifer and Ra sent me to find you two,” answered the Wingweaver. “It seems as if they have chosen the right people for this mission. You are after the culprit responsible for the capture of the Five God Dragon, yes?” Cece and Jake, too dumbfound to say anything, mutely nodded. The Gods were actually supporting them! “It seems as if I have not yet introduced myself. Forgive me, my name is Gabrielle.” There was a temporary silence as Jake and Cece slowly regained their voices.

“Where are we going to go?” asked Cece. A map appeared in front of the trio. A squiggly line was drawn across it, showing the route they would need to take to find the Five Headed Dragon. It was quite a long route, and it seemed to cross at least five different areas before they would finally arrive at their destination – the Rainbow Ruins.

“The Lords believe the ruins are where the Five God Dragon is being held,” explained Gabrielle. “There is an underground passage in the Ruins – it was once used to protect its citizens from any danger. The only way to unlock the entrance is to acquire all seven jewels of the Crystal Beasts.” She closed her hand, then opened it again. A beautiful, brightly-coloured carbuncle was now resting on her palm.

“It’s so pretty,” said Jake in a hushed voice. Cece nodded in agreement. Gabrielle suddenly closed her hand again, and when she opened it the carbuncle was gone.

“Come, we have no time to dawdle. Key, show us the way.” The map disappeared as the key leapt out of her hand and dived through the clouds. Gabrielle held onto Cece and Jake and they too flew through the clouds and after the glimmering key.

lol I don't have a set record' date=' I just read them when I had the time, but I did manage to read Chamber of Secrets in one day

[/quote']

I just did it for fun.

I read 1-4 in two days, slept a night, and then did 5-7 in two days.

Too bad I Quidditch through the Ages, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them and Tales of Beedle the Bard weren't in my possession back then.

Anyways; would you like to have a look at my fanfic too? It's Spelling/Grammar suck due to the fact I'm a non-native speaker.
