Let's build up General - notice about Games added, please read

Hello everyone,

 

So I'm a moderator again, and have been put in charge of General to replace Glassberry, who sadly is reducing his time here due to real-life commitments and desires. I am making this thread so you know that I am the new man to speak to about all things General - its sub-forums included.

 

Many people have asked me why I came back, and furthermore why I wanted to become a moderator again. The former is due to the fact that I've thankfully now found the time to do so and simply wanted to do so, and the latter is because I figure that while I'm here, why don't I try and do some good? - I did not ask nor did I expect, less so want, to be a Super Moderator again - I don't have enough time at this stage for that big a commitment.

 

I think we can make General something that is quite great. No I'm am not a doom-sayer who endlessly criticises the forum (not any more, at least :P), I merely think that it can be better, and we as a forum should strive for it. However, I've only been back about a fortnight or so, so it would be terrible of me to think that I know exactly what needs to be done.

 

That is where you all come in - this forum would be pointless without you, and therefore it is important that we make it something that can be enjoyed. Thus, if you have any suggestions of what needs to or could be done, or any comments on what are the major problems, if any, with General, please feel free to contact me via any of the means in my signature.

 

For the record, as some of you have been asking and requesting, yes, I will be overhauling the General guidelines set up by Glassberry, and periodically updating them as the forum changes - as all rules should. Simply, they do not fit my style of moderation - one that you may find is quite antiquated and vulgar, but no less effective - arguably more so. Follow the rules, simply, and you will have a good time here.

 

That is one of the few things I've planned, others include a rethink of how Debates works - none of which I have permission for, and which I expect I do not need. Simply, if I do anything erroneous, please do me the favour of informing me, as I haven't done this since the start of last year.

 

Finally, I see no reason why this thread should remain open. Simply, I'll close it, and leave it pinned it for a few days, just so you all know the new score.

UPDATE: After speaking to Falling Pizza about it, I've decided that "The Fool's Games" will be relocated to Games. I had a look at their structures and while they are not conventional forum games, they still fit in that section.

EDIT: I know this will annoy and anger a lot of people, but I, under the advisement of Dealer Umbra, have decided that the YCM Lottery is in fact also a Game, or in the very least, an unfair way of gaining post counts (as many of them consist simply of the purchase of tickets), and therefore, as much as it pains me, it has been moved to Games as well. As has been requested numerous times, it's notability and good use mean it deserves a sticky, and it has one there.
