Well, I'm not so sure what I can say about that ^^; By top-tier formats, I'd assume you are talking about Ligtsworns, DAD and such, and While they might be good and all that, they are still stopped easily with a Skill Drain or Pole Position =P I think I already have played against some top tier decks, and I already have my oppinion ^^; (sorry if this is rude. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong)

Well, I can't talk on SirFunchAlot's behalf, as I have never been to the nationals myself, but I don't really think that that should be used as an exuse to make cards that might be too powerful. It's like saying that it's completely okay to make many new copies of Plaguespreader ZOmbie, becasue Plaugespreader is considered "good" by today's standards.

SO yeah, WHile it might be a little less powerfull then what you mentioned, I still say that it's a bit too good ^^; Sorry about that, but that's just my opinion in your card. When I'm trying to make cards myself, I try to make it balanced overall, despite what meta-gamers might say. And from my perspective as a creator, I'd say that getting near-free special summoning, and near free mobius-multi-use spell/trap destruction is a bit too good.

And again, sorry if I sounded too harsh or rude. This is just my point of view. But, as you seem like a sensible guy (not too many of those on the internet), could you be bothered to take a look at the set I created? ^^; It's in my signature ^^;

Well, I appreciate you handling the expression of your opinion so sensibly and politely, but I'm definitely going to disagree with you on the fact that Skill Drain and Pole Position can top Lightsworn - there's a reason that they're the top Deck right now, you know.

And yes, I agree with you to some extent - Serpentine Dragon is a powerful card with useful effects and great playability, but notice this - it is currently confined to only one Deck Type, that being Reptile. For all its great synergy, stats, and effects, it only works with one Deck, which is easily tier three or lower. It's similar to those huge "Boss" cards that the old TCG was so fond of - once you get them out, they can be broken as hell, but they usually only work in certain Decks and certain situations.

The same is true of Serpentine Dragon.

And yeah, sure, I'll take a look when I get the chance.

Well, yeah, you might be right. But there is nothing that beats the feeling of having your opponent draw a judgement dragon, summon it and activate it's effect to blast the entire field (Except for itself) and then chaining Pole position to it ^^; While not being in hte upper tournament level myself, I still have some decks that I consider good (Pole position says nay, being one of them), and that have beaten many other "top-tier" decks. And from my experience, when you take the effects away from Lightsworns, they are not much other then beatstickers.

Yeah, I guess you are right. That was the word I was looking for, by the way =) While it's really great, it's only great in one deck-type. I strive to create cards that are balanced, even in only one decktype ^^; As far as the old "boss" monsters go, I like the idea of having ridiculously hard to get out monsters, that have awesome effects, but as far as your monster goes, you only need to remove 1 reptile from the graveyard. Snake Rain, anyone? :P

I don't really know about serpentine dragon being a situational and only working in certain decks. Sure, he only works in reptile decks (but then again, so does most spellcaster monsters, and suchlike), but he is not really situational. ^^; Serpentine dragon works in any situation in a reptile deck =P having 2 reptiles in the graveyard = Mobius. Having 3-4 reptiles in the graveyard = Total field wipe (except for face-down monsters)

So yeah, in my conclusin, I'd say that maybe you should up the cost of special summoning him to removing 2 reptiles? ^^; But then again, it's your choice.

And thank you for wanting to see through my cards. They are my first ones, so I really need help on correcting them, and I would really like to hear your opinion about them =)

Well, yeah, but I would think that most people would have realized by now that Serpentine Dragon's effects aren't that great, really. This format around, the number of deadly and chainable Traps is on the rise, and the Top Tier Decks that this card would be facing can take that kind of loss in stride... As to it's ATK/DEF reduction effect, you have to be able to attack the opponent for it to be of any real use, and again, destruction by battle isn't at a high right now...

And also, Snake Rain hasn't been run competitively ... ever. I doubt people would start running it now, for one card. While Serpentine Dragon packs quite a punch, yes, it's still only one card - even if individually, it's leaning towards overpowered, it still can't escape the restrictions placed upon it by its Type-Specific effect.

And again, not really ^^; I didn't see anyone else that uses either of those two traps ^^; Anyway, I'm sorry to say that I still think that it's really strong. Actually, the only reason why Destruction through battle isn't very popular is because of Saku, Mirror force, etc... And Serpentine dragon already fixes those problems in one big swoop.

I know. I just wanted to name a card that would be awesome with this card ^^; Yes, but imagine if you had 3 Serpentine dragons! =P Yeah, but still, he can only do his things within his field, but within his field, he does it extremely, extremely well.

^^; Sorry for keeping the argument going. I'll stop now.

Yeah, because they're not particularly good, lol. The only time you see Skill Drain is in Skill Drain Plants, which is a pretty alright Deck - I should know, I've tested it quite a bit. And definitely not... Those Traps aren't the reason that destruction via battle isn't big right now - Threatening Roar is.

Why would you want to have three Serpentine Dragons? =/ One can do what the other two can just as efficiently, lol. It's not an argument, just a discussion - unfortunately, Serpentine Dragon is definitely not broken. In fact, this version (WIND, Level 7, and only 2300 ATK) is still distinctly trashy.
