Well it somewhat makes sense for that because you need that to summon monsters, cast spells, etc.

So it's better that a mechanic like mana is absolutely necessary whereas you don't have to run monsters, it's just recommended and efficient?

 

I find the whole mana system to be overplayed in card games (Almost every card game uses some form of it)
