I basically completely netdecked a blackwing deck that I knew to be good for this tourney, so I felt confident I had a pretty good chance of winning. Unfortunately, the pain of defeat reared it's ugly head once again.

Match One: Me Vs. Miles (Spellcaster Monarchs)

Duel One: I torrential. He mirrors. I swarm. He vortexes. We end up with no cards whatsoever on either side and enter a topdeck battle. Fortunately I end up with topping MF to take out his Chaos Sorcerer and it leaves him defenseless for my newly-topped Shura to take him out.

Duel Two: He keeps summoning treeborn frog and Caius to send me seriously hurting, and heavies my MF. I have to overextend and take risks to recover which leaves me in pain when he summons like three Trickies and blows me away in two turns. He won because I just didn't have enough cards to stop them all.

Duel Three: He draws almost no monsters and I win very, very quickly. He uses Gorz but it was too late for even that to help him as I quickly kill it and win the next turn.

Match Two: Me Vs. Taylor (Lightsworn)

Duel One: I was really nervous because this guy has beaten me every single time i've faced him for like five months. Fortunately I had nothing to worry about here as I get black whirlwind quickly and immediately synchro into Armor Master and Goyo making his honests useless. He lives on lucky Wulfs but I easily take them out. Finally I get Stardust out which means he can't use Celestia either and when he finally draws Judge and summons him I solemn and he scoops because there's nothing he can do.

Duel Two: Okay this one is retarded he goes first after we side and I see two Black Whirlwinds in my hand so I think it'll work out. Unfortunately he summons Rai-Oh and they become useless. I have only one monster, Shura, and he uses bottomless. He pokes with Rai-Oh until I die and neither of us drew a single other monster because I had bad draws and he had charges he couldn't use.

Duel Three: He summons Rai-Oh again but this time I can easily kill it with Sirocco and once again start synchroing like crazy. He had terrible luck this match because he milled every single JD and every way of recovering him, every honest, and pretty much everything he needed while at the same time never milling the Wulfs or Necro Gardnas that could have saved him. He hangs on swarming with Lumina but loses anyway because I bottomless everything he tries to get with them.

Match Three: Me Vs. Zach (Blackwings)

Duel One: He tells me he has good luck against bad players and terrible luck against good players, which I guess is just a better sounding way of saying he's bad at the game. His deck is hot though, it runs spies which I don't and it annoyed me all the time. I couldn't get through them at first but eventually got Sirroco and started using his effect to boost Bora to kill the spies. Finally he draws into his blackwings but I keep killing them with Icarus attack until he runs low on resources and I win.

Duel Two: I side Skill Drain in just to try it out and they ended up being serous dead draws. I can't kill him because he keeps using Waboku (why he runs this over roars i'll never know) and eventually he draws a tons of monsters and uses Black Whirlwind to get more while I draw useless skill drains and no monsters. Yuck.

Duel Three: I use resided because those Skill drains were hurting more than helping and used Roars instead. I do way better, he summons Shura I brain it sack it for Sirroco to get Kalut with Black Whirlwind. He spends a long time trying to kill my monsters and finally uses Armor Master to do the trick, but when he does I just summon DAD and wipe him out, reborn his armor master and synchro my own for game.

Match Four: Me Vs. Chris (Rescue Cat Synchro)

Duel One: He uses Spy to fetch spy and I have no way of killing it. Then uses Summoner Monk to fetch rescue cat, tribs rescue cat for two airbellums but I use bottomless to remove them both. Next turn he summon another rescue cat to fetch Airbellum and Ryko but I icarus airbellum and the monk. Unfortunately that was my last monster and he pokes with the spies until he wins.

Duel Two: I start out with dustshoot, sending his DAD back to deck, he crushes me but crush doesn't hurt blackwings all that much. I summon Gale and Bora quickly, he uses rescue cat but I bottomless the monsters he gets. He uses Gorz and I kill the tokens. He sets one monster then uses brain and mind control to get DSF with my blackwings, I roar and he burns by sacking Gorz. I kill DSF with Gale and Kalut, he sets another card, I reborn his DSF, he uses bottomless, next turn he flips spy and guard and attacks for game. What really kills me is that he beat me so quickly without ever successfully using Rescue Cat.

Match Five: Me Vs. Some guy (Necromill)

Duel One: He draws into Macro-Gravekeepers servant combo, soul absorption and some monster but I storm first turn and he can't recover at all after that. It's almost painful to watch as I kill him without him ever regaining his footing, as his valleys, banishers and majus all die without ever helping him execute his combos.

Duel Two: He starts this time with Allure on Necroface and starts milling us both rapidly by reusing him and the second one but it doesn't really help him win as his lifepoints get to over 15,000. I'm not really worried though as I notice he has only a few cards left in deck. I just poke at him a bit until he has only one card left, he figures out it must be Caius and scoops because he couldn't have won with it.

Top Eight: Me Vs. Zach, again.

Duel One: It's like a replay of our first duel where he uses spies, except this time I can't kill him. I don't remember how he ended up winning but it was DAD I think.

Duel Two: I side, draw two solemns and whirlwind, summon Sirocco to grab Gale but hold him back idiotically when I should have synchro'd. I run into his MF, next turn he heavies, I idiotically solemn without thinking if I actually have anything worth protecting, he reborns my sirocco, I realize that would be game so I solemn again, he attacks with Shura and drops Kalut for game. I could have probably won if i'd let him heavy since I would have had plenty of LP left and had that Gale still in my hand but I lost in this stupid way. Wow.

I felt really bad since this was like my third month of making the top eight without getting far enough to win a prize, so I try to drown my sorrows in a Gold Series two pack where I pull solemn and crap. I wanted DAD because I was just borrowing the one I used today but it was not to be so.

[/quote']So, how'd you adjust your deck, and what did you put in it?

against CAt synchro' date=' IM curious why you Icarus attacked BEFORE he synched? He couldnt grab a lv 8 if Im correct... so why did you do it before he synchroed, or at least before the battle phase?

[/quote']

Yeah that would have been a much better move' date=' I guess I wasn't thinking clearly at the time.

[/quote']

It depends on your LP because he could go into DSF and use priority to tribute something if you were 1400LP or lower this wasn't a bad move.
