OMGAKITTY
Oops, I seem to have put a few extra X's in the title. Silly keyboard. Anyway, I was watching X1 the other day (This is not in movies because I plan to broaden the subject the the Xmen franchise in general), and I got to thinking how....a lot of these powers don't make much sense. Case in point: Mystique:Being able to alter her appearance into anybody, ok that part is plausible. But (as shown in the movie) she can apparently mimic them to such a degree that she can pass retinal scans. That's the part I don't really get. Overall appearance would be easy to mimic, but how is she able to get it down to such detail?I also remember her being able to morph into a bird in the animated series (Evolutions, I believe). Where'd the rest of her body mass go? >_>Final point: She morphs into Wolverine in the movie, equipped with (apparently inferior) claws. So she can A) change her body into nonorganic material, but B) can only make regular steel, and not adamantium? Cyclops:He shoots beemz out of his eyes. Ok. How does closing his eyes stop beemz? Eyelids....aren't that strong. And can he even see? How can light enter his eyes if they are constantly shooting beemz out? Meh. Go discuss and be nerdy and whatnot. Guest JoshIcy
Cyclops:He shoots beemz out of his eyes. Ok. How does closing his eyes stop beemz? Eyelids....aren't that strong. His eye powers' date=' actually are energies from another dimension that when come into this one are destructive in nature. Ruby's apparently have the same effect, in canceling it out. As for his skin, you have to see it as this. If his eyes are constantly firing this energy, why isn't his head blown clean off? Therefore he himself is also immune. Which means that he can shoot his own hand and nothing, it would cancel it out, sending it back to that dimension. Which means, his eyelids are the physical doorway. His eyes are actually replaced with those new energies, with the same abilities as normal eyes. Sadly, those ruby quartz lenses are needed or he would be forcibly blind. And the claws are actually part of his skeleton, so she would have to find a suitable replacement. I don't know the full extent of her powers. Sorry. Dark
I don't think the movie was meant to be realistic. =\ If anything, I'd have to agree with OMGAKITTY for Cyclops.

While his eyes are the said portal, they still function as eyes. Therefore, they are still eyes. She simply suppressed the portal itself, allowing him to control it (instead of it constantly "firing"). Or totally suppressing it altogether. (In the Comics, he does gain this as he gets older).
