The Game Master is Currently :

Welcome, to the modified version of my former thread. I *hope* things are better laid out this time around. I didn't take me as long to fix things as I had thought it would, otherwise I wouldn't have closed the old board, but starting anew is fine with me.

Much thanks to PremierAameer, for the suggestions, modifications, and all the other help you provided. :) - He owns this RP with me, so his word here is as good as my own.

Quality is preferred to quantity. I'd rather have a few good posts a day, then two dozen or more one liners.

One of the things I value the most is effort. If you are doing the best you can possibly do, I'll be satisfied. I do offer advice and little suggestions, so I hope they are taken to heart. I enjoy helping people become better, as people have helped me in the past, and I hope to continue on with that attitude rather than flat out rejection. Need help making your posts longer? PM me, and I'll be more than happy to help.

If you joined the RP before, feel free to use the same sign up as before, but be aware of the new things added to the RP, as well as the very slight modification to the sign ups.

[spoiler=Story]

As a card game, duel monsters has become a fairly unpopular game, to the extent that it has become obsolete to the majority of the population. There are no longer large tournaments with screaming fans, no card shops with fresh packs of monsters, and no interest in discovering more monsters.

Though dead to the mainstream, rings of loyal duelists armed with duel disks form clubs or circles, holding battle tournaments among themselves. They dedicate themselves to developing the perfect deck, while taking ridicule for participating in 'childish games' from 'outsiders'.

However, duel monsters is far more than a simple game. Its roots lay in ancient Egypt, a time when these monsters truly existed, and were capable of great destruction.

In present day, the images of these monsters have been imprinted on playing cards for the game duel monsters, and still, they are more then they appear to be. The spirits of the duel monsters are still very much alive, those free are drawn to duels and constantly searching for a human to 'leach' off of.

Once a monster has found a human it deems suitable, it feeds off that persons energies, making itself stronger, though causing negative side effects on the human, that ranges depending on how parasitic the monster-human relation is. Some benevolent souls call themselves 'deck masters', these monsters watch over their human, while other, malevolent souls are determined to pursue a more negative path.

[spoiler=What's Happening Now?]

A small (Unofficial) tournament is taking place. It holds little significance, other then introducing our characters to one another. There is no prize, as it is only for fun, and to draw in a few new duelists and such.

It is intended to give everyone an idea of how your character bonds with others, as well as with their deck master. It is also a good time to decide whom you think your character bonds best with, or which character's deck would best compliment your own, which will come into play later on.

Currently, it is night time in the RP.

[spoiler=Information]

For the moment, no one will be playing any 'evil' spirits, monsters, or characters, but as things progress, and I get to see peoples capabilities, I will allow members on the RP to take on additional characters, be they duel monsters or humans.

You can have a main character, and other lesser characters such as family members, but only one main character, meaning, only one character with a deck master.

Your characters deck master must be four stars or lower. The energy a stronger monster would require of a human would take far too much out of a person. As time progresses, like I said, stronger monsters will appear as deck masters, both malevolent and benevolent.

Each deck master has a special effect.

Your deck master cannot be tributes/sacrificed to summon another monster, or else you will lose the duel.

If you wish for your character to know/ be related to another person's characters, that is fine with me, just make sure the other RPer is okay with it.

As for deck contents, be realistic, please.

More info to be added as needed or thought up! Hopefully, this RP will receive enough interest to get off of the ground.

As we're just starting off, for the moment, deck master's cannot be destroyed in battle. When a deck master is defeated in battle, it will simply vanish, and reappear later on when it has regained it's strength. Later in the RP, they WILL be able to be 'destroyed' for good, but we wont worry about that just yet. - And remember, your deck master and duelist are linked with a special bond. When your deck master is defeated and vanishing, your character will feel incredibly worn out.

Even though your deck masters cannot yet be 'destroyed', if they lose in battle, then you lose the duel.

Your deck master exists in two states. A solid state, the one it battles and walks around in, and a spirit state, that cannot be seen, and is mostly used to conserve energy and avoid having to interact with humans that would not understand what they were. Basically, the deck master is more or less always with the character, in one form or another.

For the moment, try to limit strong/rare cards in your deck, but don't worry, the oppourtunity to get more cards will come.

If your character seeks a specific card, I will introduce an NPC that will call himself 'the Hustler.' He will appear at dueling events, with a large amount of cards that you can trade for or buy or whatever. As for how to know how much money your character has, consider your character's past and present. Does/did you character have a job? Do they get an allowance? If so, how much do they get? Things like that.

As time goes on, a second character will offer upgrades and custom pieces and whatnot to your duel disks. He calls himself Tek, and often lingers near the Hustler, hoping to draw in new customers. He is also able to fix broken duel disks and if given enough incentive (Cold, hard cash), he may even customize it's appearance to your liking.

No one will be allowed to use Sacred Beast cards, Wicked God cards, or other cards that can be seen as power playing, if you have any doubt, just PM me about it.

[spoiler=Tidbits Of The Past]

In Egyptian times:

- Ty was an apprentice magician to a man whom resembled the Magician of Black Chaos.

- Baylith was a scholar, whom worked under Endymion

[spoiler=When Dueling]

Each duelist starts with 8000 Life points, unless the two characters/players agree otherwise.

Do not power play. No one is lucky enough to draw EVERY card that allows them to summon a specific monster in a single hand. No one. Also, no one is lucky enough to have a counter trap/spell for EVERYTHING. Really, all I ask is that you play fair.

Additionally, keep track of the number of cards you hold. If you lay down all six cards on the first turn, then on the second turn add down two cards when you only drew one, then clearly, something is not right.

When dueling, remember to have your character respond to what happens, or what he/she sees. If a monster the character is unfamiliar with is played, they will likely be curious or anxious, about it, or however you think your character would react. Also, remember that facial expressions and body language are as powerful as words. For example, if one character smirks, it likely means they have drawn good cards, or have developed a way to out duel their opponent, so the second duelist might feel unnerved.

[spoiler=Duel Format]

During a duel, this will be a summary at the end of your post, to help everyone understand what is going on. It's strictly to help organize the chaos. :)

Duelist: Number of cards drawn, number of cards you set, or if face up what card is played, the attack, etc.

Hand: The number of cards in your hand.

Field: Cards on the field. Face up and face down.

[spoiler=Rules]

No power playing, god modding, perfect characters, etc.

Take it easy on the tragic pasts. Everyone has pain in their lives, but there's a fine line that really shouldn't be crossed.

Do not, do not, do not, constantly post one liners. Everyone has writers block, that cannot be avoided, but no one has permanent writes block.

Just posting a few words in quotations is not acceptable. How are we supposed to know for sure who said it? Who they're talking to? How it's being said? Etc...

Chat speak is pure evil. Please do not use it in character. Out of character, is your own choice.

[spoiler=Accepted Profiles]

[spoiler=Malice]

Name: Ty Alicia Hart

Age: 19

Appearance: Ty stands at 5'7" and is of medium build. She has bushy black hair, that passes her shoulders, and green eyes. More often then not, she wears a soft, faded looking pair of jeans, as well as her favorite shirts, a black, skin tight tee, with a larger, white sleeves shirt over it. The white shirt has a picture of a golden key on it, with the butt end shaped like a heart. Around her neck she wears a collar, from which hangs a small silver lock. Her sneakers, which are somewhat worn out, are black high tops.

Personality: Ty has a tendency to mother or baby other people, particularly those that are younger than herself. She is mature, though not to the extent that she is boring. She usually puts on her 'brave face' regardless of how she is feeling, just to prevent the people around her from worrying or being bothered by her expression. Ty is a strong person, with a great love for dueling and the Spellcaster monsters available.

Bio: Ty lived a simple life all while she was growing up. She would play, laugh, and carry on with nonsense, just as any child would, but with an awkwardness that never really left her. Being the oldest of three children, she often found herself watching over her younger siblings. This protective behavior grew when there was an accident, and one of her siblings nearly died.

As she grew older, Ty became a bit of a recluse, hardly leaving her home, aside the usual chores she had to deal with, such as school. She would simply wander around her home, searching for something to temporarily amuse herself. It was during one of these wandering that she ended up in her attic, looking through boxes. Inside a box marked with her father's name, she found a tin of duel monsters cards. She asked her father what they were, and as he fondly explained to her that it was an old hobby that he loved, she began to feel drawn to the game, to the extent that she decided to leave the house and learn more.

Though it took her some time to discover active players, she fell completely in love with the game while watching unofficial matches. It was this that drove her to seek out whatever cards she could find, and construct her own deck, a task that varied in intensity. She struck paydirt on her seventeenth birthday, when her father, then aware of her interest, passed his cards onto her, allowing her to put together a fairly well structured deck.

Once she had a deck, Ty denounced her reclusive ways, and instead spent her time forming strategies, tradings cards, and dueling with other players within a ring of duelist that played closest to her home.

Eventually, after familiarizing herself with the tactics and cards of her opponents, she began to visit other areas she had heard that dueling still took place in.

It was during one of these 'away' matches that her deck master's spirit took interest in her. After she had pulled a move that he deemed particularly clever, he watched gleefully as she summoned a Blast Magician to the field, and eagerly seized the chance to link himself to her, and her deck.

From that duel onwards, the Blast Magician stood alongside her as she dueled, acting as silent support, or stepping onto the field when the need was there.

Deck Master Special Effect: Each time a Spell Card is activated, place 1 Spell Counter on this card. You can remove any number of Spell Counters from this card to destroy 1 face-up monster on the field with ATK equal to or less than 700 x the number of counters you removed.

Deck Master Personality: Blast ensures that he acts as though he is a cynical, bitter spirit that has pessimistic tendencies, though he is, in fact a kind spirit that wishes he could believe that good things can happen if given a chance. He hides himself behind a wall of sarcasm to protect himself from getting attached too his human partner, Ty, as he regards humans as 'weak underlings'.

Hopefully, all of this will prove to be an effective way to RP Yu Gi Oh. I know it can be difficult, but this is much more organized then before, and thus this is the final thread. I hope I haven't turned anyone off of this RP just because I wasn't pleased with the organization of the other one. If I did, I just hope you're willing to give me a second chance. :)

maybe I'll join, however, I have to say, I'm not a nice duelist, I don't pull punches, and I don't like it when people take 3 weeks just to come up with a move.

I'll do it on sunday if I decide to.

need to think about what my deck master(s) will be, since I don't want to make it too unfair, but I want it to make it interesting for me. at least.

I'm thinking night's end sorcerer.

Jeroukoo, you didn't fill out the form for the deck master, and you just listed some things that I asked not be listed.

I don't really care if people have more then one deck, as long as they don't take it to the extreme and have like thirty seven or something crazy like that.

Even to now, he still has over Thousands of Dollars in reserve, which has been saved in his bank. He can't use that money, but continues to get money from his parents as an allowance. He focused mainly on the strategy of using his opponent's moves in his advantage. He followed his strategies of chess into Yugioh Duel Monsters. Deck Master: Grave Squirmer

Nickname: Mummy

Deck Master Special Effect: Once per turn, when a monster you control is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, you can destroy 1 card on the field.

Deck Master Personality: Grave Squirmer is a very annoying Spirit, normally trying to do tricks on people. Very rarely does he show himself, normally knowing that if he remains a Spirit he can trip or hurt people easier. He normally becomes real, laying in alleys, among other spaces that people walk by in the dark, slowly lifting himself up, screaming "Boo!" at people. People normally are scared enough to wet themselves. Though he knows that Hunter doesn't approve of this, he ignores that fact. He thinks he can fly, even though he is only floating inches above the ground. He is extremely smart, however very immature.

Hm, I guess it's an okay sign up, BUT the deck master is supposed to be a four star or lower monster. ^_^;

Additionally, does Hunter know how old he actually is? That part kind of confuses me, because under age, you say 17, and yet you say he is actually 19, but few people know it.

If he doesn't know how old he is, then I'm going to need to explanation, not for the bio, but for me to figure out how that works. xD

And also you left the Personality blank, but I assume you know and will edit when you're ready.

Jeroukoo' date=' you didn't fill out the form for the deck master, and you just listed some things that I asked not be listed.

I don't really care if people have more then one deck, as long as they don't take it to the extreme and have like thirty seven or something crazy like that.
