Six Samurai?

hello!

 

I'm trying to make a new deck, with the Six Samurai as the theme. I'm not exactly aware of how to make the deck itself(as my main focus has always been Macro or RFG decks), so I've really no idea what to post here. perhaps I'll get modded for this, but I didn't know where else to post this, since it's related to a deck and such. I apologize beforehand.

 

So, I've a few questions regarding Six Samurai decks:

 

-What's their strengths? key cards or plays, even a deck build with a general strategy would be appreciated.

 

-Their Weaknesses(sp)? no deck is perfect(well, maybe Blackwings <_<), so there must be some obvious flaws in the archtype.

 

-Are they expensive to make? are the key cards tough to find? Currently I'm only in posession of one Grandmaster of the Six Samurai, would I need more? a playset, even?

 

And that's basically all I have to say. again, if there's a problem with this topic, I'll understand if I'm modded, as I've read the rules, and since there's no deck being posted here, I'll most likely get in trouble. but, I'm truly clueless in this, and I've no idea how to make a Six Samurai deck.

The Six Samurai are very vulnerable to cards that limit the number of monsters on the field, like spacial collapse. The whole point of Six Samurai is to swarm the field and use the Samurai's effects to your advantage. Another great card to put in is Great Shogun Shien, it limits the amount of spells and traps your opponent can use. This is the deck that I tend to use, even though it contains banned and limited cards.

I am thinking of running a 6sam, but I may not be as experienced as other people on the forum. I do have a budget list I have created, and I can tell you a basic way of playing, with the cheaper cards. When you start to get more expensive, you may want to consult with someone else.

 

However here are some tips :D

 

[spoiler=Swiftstrike Armour]

This card can be very good if ran right. You can base a deck around this card, as you can chain cards like Reload and Reckless Greed to your draw, allowing you to draw more cards, with a bigger chance of special summoning multiple 6sam monsters.

 

[spoiler=Six Samuri Monsters]

The six main monster are of course the six sam's them selves. My own personal build of the deck uses this ratio of the cards:

3x SS Yaichi (Light) Very good destruction effect, worth running loads

3x SS Irou (Dark) Runs over flip effects with out activating them

3x SS Yariza (Earth) Direct Attacks for the win :D

2x SS Kamon (Fire) Destroys face ups, so not to many, but not none

2x SS water guy (Water) (forget his name XD) Destroys face downs, so not to many, but not none

2x SS Nisashi (Wind) Can be used in conjunction with another card that I will talk about for OTK, but otherwise isn't worth it

However as this is my own personal view, you may like to create your own view of it :D

 

[spoiler=Cunning of the Six Samuri]

This can be used, if used well, for the OTK. here is how it would work:

Field Full via Swiftstrike Armour. Clear the opponents field using Lightning Vortex and Spell Destruction cards. You can then attack with all your monsters dealing them a lot of damage. Then by using Cunning to tribute one monster who has attacked, you can special summon Nisashi who can do an additional 2400 (I think), potentially Finishing the duel......

 

I would run three......

 

[spoiler=Spirit of the Six Samuri]

Union monsters are usually to slow to play, however with Swiftstrike, you can special summon this card as it has Six samuri in its name, and attach it to a monster you summon during the turn. I would use one, but it still can be slow, so it is your opinion......

 

[spoiler=Return of the Six Samurai + Six Samurai United]

Personally I think it should go in pretty much any Six Samuri deck. It can help speed up the OTK mentioned earlier, and if you run Spirit, you can equip the spirit, preventing its destruction. Can be very good if used right.

Six Samurai United is a very good card, especially in a Swiftstrike deck, run 3 :D

Ana's suggestions aren't bad, got some of the names mixed up, but most people don't run Yariza because they would rather run 2-3 Grand Master and 2 Shogun Shiens. Hand of the Six Samurai is also another good card as you can destroy a card with Kamon or Yaichi (the water type that destroys face down s/t cards) and then sac them to destroy another card since they can't atk that turn.

That is a place to start as it gives good pointers about strength and weaknesses. Also, the deck generally isn't super expensive, atleast not as much as the other decks, but to get them via booster pack is a little harder now as most places don't sell the packs, so it will cost a bit to buy all of the cards individually. Duel Monsters Unlimited is a good place to build a deck to test before you buy the cards.
