Internet Friends vs. IRL Friends

Just want to talk about the differences between the two for me.

First you can obviously see IRL friends in person, and I never do with internet friends (although some people do).

I've also noticed for me, there is a different male female ratio. Of my IRL main group of friends, including me (who is male) there are 5 males, and 2 females. Outside of that, my friends who aren't part of my main circle, the male female ratio is a bit closer. On the other hand almost all of my internet friends are female.

Also for me, my internet friends tend to be younger then my IRL friends. I have 2 IRL friends in my main circle that are younger than me, and 4 are older, but almost all of my internet friends are younger than me.

Then there is the fact I tend to tell secrets to internet friends, because it doesn't matter if they tell anyone, they rarely live in the same state as me so things won't spread, and if they don't like me for it, honestly they are kinda easy to replace. On the other hand I don't know enough people IRL who like the same things as me to have but so many of them not like me, (even more so because I go to a private school).

Does anyone else see any of these patterns, or anything else?

Alright' date=' let's start.[/b']

True.

That's bs. If you're talking about another forum, that's more like it. But females on the internet is very rare.

Depends how old you are.

Same situation as me. I don't tell much about myself to internet friends though.

Uh.....yea, I guess.

IRL friends because if you're computer breaks/internet is out you can't see internet friends or talk to them, but you can talk to real life friends. Plus IRL friends are just better.

Let's see...

IRL friends, just about all female.

Internet is pretty much an even split.

IRL friends, since I live in a very isolated spot, it takes an hours bus ride to go and see any of them, they're also barely ever online, so I don't actually talk to them much.

Internet ones are just about always on MSN, so I can chat to them whenever I have access to a computer.

IRL friends, tend to be fun to hang out with, but there's not a lot we can do since we have few common interests.

Internet friends were just about all met through a common interest, so we can just about always find something to do or talk about.

I could keep listing the differences, but to me, Internet friends > IRL friends, I'm sure that's different for others.

Females don't exist on the internet.

Not everything on the interwebs is 4chan' date=' you know.

LIAR! WE ARE LEGION. WE DO NOT FORGIVE, WE DO NOT FORGET.

$10 says that at least 95% of OP's "female" friends are dudes.

I won't say there aren't chicks on the internet. I just say you have a better chance of finding a shiny Pidgey than bewbs.

Most of my friends I talk to online since I rarely see them. We chat online on aim or online profiles and even emails.

I may have 3-5 people I regularly talk to online who I never met in person.

The people I see online I don't care if they are guys, girls, both, or neither. It is just someone to talk to in order to pass the time or get help in a card game.

I have met several people who I first met online and one became close friends after doing so. I have known her for 9 years and visit her at least once or twice a year. The others I met are nothing special, just once again someone who I don't see and only talk to online. :/
