I've been hit with spyware when I was like eight or nine-years-old, but that's pretty much it. Never a virus.

I don't use anything additional, really. Just free stuff as a crappy backup layer.

I used AVG until they released version eight, which sucks a lot. I'm just using free avast! right now.

TBQH' date=' I just got a BSoD right now. All it needed was a restart to get back in action.

I don't understand what BSoD does. It identifies the problem yes, but if only a simple restart is in order, can't it do that without scaring people to death?

Well after the first time, I was like "WOAH WTF!??!?!" cause I've never gotten it before. Then I got it again, and I was like "Okay c'mon restart already" but then it got repetative and I started to worry. But I think I solved it now, the instructions given to me by microsoft when I submitted my data about the crash has seemed to have a worked.

And another thing, is it true that shutting down your computer every day can damage it?

On my current laptop, the only BSODs I've ever gotten would be from programs that tried to write to ROM, and me deliberately crashing my video card FTLOL. Oh. And the stupid hibernation BSODs I get because of the incorrect time after it's back from hibernation.

If you leave your battery in your laptop while you constantly plug in your adapter, yes, it does damage the battery over time, because the current runs through it. That's why I take out the battery when I don't plan to use it.

Never knew that... xD

I'd rather not screw around with my laptop, though, because I'm not very hardware-savvy.

You're not supposed to have multiple anti-virus programs installed.

Multiple Anti-Virus programs tends to help. That way if one misses something' date=' the other one (hopefully) won't. And besides, McAfee is general and internet protection, Defender is computer oriented, and Malwarebyte is Malware only.

Anti-virus programs have a habit of interfering with each other's functions.

Damn, I'm a Mac user, and even I'm less retarded than you are.

I stopped there because I facepalm'd too hard.

Nonsense. It's a valid question. It depends how big the hammer you shut it down with is.

What if you actually SHOOT it down?

Depends if you're shooting hammers.

They can interfere, but usually only when you run both at the same time. You can figure out a multi-antivirus setup that works, providing you don't actually run both at the same time.

I used to have this problem.

I uninstalled my anti-virus software and downloaded "Antivirus 360" and the problem went away permanently.

Also, there could be some corrupt files in your "System32" folder. If this is the case, just delete the folders in the System32 folder.

The Blue Screen of Death is an error with a program or Windows. it probably means that either some hardware or software hasn't been installed correctly, or an important .dll file is missing from an important program.

My advice: reinstall the programs you think might be causing the problem. If that doesn't work, take it to Geek Squad because some internal hardware might not be in there correctly.

My internal harddrive was fried due to a worm.

Don't ask how. I already told you.

Geeksquad looked like kids trying to solve the issue.

That was no surprise to me that they had no knowledge of the problem when they asked me "what is a worm?"

An actual worm? Or a computer worm?
