Era 2 : Agartha and Lemuria vs. The Arcane Evil : The Darkness Returns

 

10,000 years after Marduk slew Apollion, the remnants of both the Forgotten and the Malevolent began to stir. The Forgotten's ruins had become the ancient cities of Agartha, Lemuria and Atlantis. Meanwhile, the Malevolent's power crafted an evil that would once again threaten mankind.

Many know of Atlantis' fate. The Orichalcos rained down on the people, corrupting their souls and bringing forth the Great Leviathan. However, on the other side of the planet, another war was raging. The Malevolent had formed the Arcane Evil, who in turn formed the Infernals and Possessed monsters. These twisted creations attacked the two other civilisations.

Agartha was a race of scientists; with machines of war, having lost the magic they were born with. Lemuria had held onto the sorcery of the Forgotten and commanded legions of spellcasters and monsters of the deep.

The darkness has returned; who shall previal?

And Marduk slew Apollion, ending the most destructive war in the history of man. But it was just the beginning. The Forgotten’s power was exhausted, they could no longer sustain their existence. Their cities fell to ruins and they eventually disappeared. The Malevolent were obliterated, and all thought they were destroyed.

 

It was 10 millennia later that these two ancient races again manipulated the future of mankind. The remnants of the Forgotten had been settled and their advanced technology had led to the birth of three new races; all as advanced as each other.

 

Atlantis was a peaceful kingdom in the Atlantic, isolated from other lands; they were pacifists and did not see it fit to wage war on others. On the other side of the world, the other two resided. Agartha was a land of machines. They had lost the magic of their ancestors and relied on machines to win their wars. Lemuria had retained the magical prowess of the Forgotten and thus commanded vast numbers of sorcerers and sea monsters.

 

These two traded and communicated, but also realised the other’s relative strength rendered a war pointless, as it would lead to the destruction of both peoples.

 

It was then that the Arcane Evil descended onto the Forgotten’s children. In Atlantis, the darkness formed itself into the Orichalcos; a twisted stone that unleashed the inner darkness of man and beast. Eventually, enough souls were corrupted and the Great Leviathan was born. Atlantis sank under the waves as it slipped into the darkness.

 

In Agartha, the evil crafted the Infernals. Creatures of fire and darkness; they infiltrated Agartha and wreaked havoc. In Lemuria, men and monster were possessed by the all-consuming shadows, creating the Possessed monsters. Agartha struck back with planes and weapons of war, while Lemuria unleashed its magic and sea creatures.

However, the darkness had the upper hand. The Agarthans’ firepower was resisted by the Infernals and the Lemurians’ sorcery had little effect on the possessed beasts. And as such, the two cities were taken by the forces of darkness.

 

It was not until the two sides agreed to switch their forces that the advantage befell the defenders. Agarthan warships launched an assault on Lemuria, while Lemurian mages infiltrated Agartha. The Infernals could not withstand the Lemurians’ aquatic magic; and the Possessed monsters were destroyed by Agarthan weaponry.

 

However, the evil was not to fall so easily. With one last effort, the Arcane Evil showed its true form and engulfed Lemuria. As the Malevolent’s successor’s power grew, the two races knew what had to be done to contain the evil.

 

The two peoples united and razed Lemuria to the ground. The great city’s great palaces were swallowed by flames as the evil’s power weakened. With one final strike, the very ground Lemuria stood upon was reduced to molten rock; and the settlement fell into the earth, never to re-surface.

 

Because of Lemuria’s sacrifice, Agartha remained; and retreated underground, to watch over humanity as it matured. And the world was peaceful for a time. But soon, once again, the Malevolent’s evil was to show itself.

Effect: This card cannot be attacked by EARTH monsters. Once per turn, during your Standby Phase, you can reduce this card's ATK by 1000, until your End Phase. If you do, this card can attack your opponent directly during your Battle Phase. Each time this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent, this card gains 150 ATK.

Effect: This card is also treated as an EARTH monster. Once per turn, you can pay 500 Life Points. If you do, this card can attack your opponent directly during your Battle Phase. This card gains 200 ATK each time this effect is activated.

Effect: Once per turn, you can destroy 1 face-down card on your opponent's side of the field. If you do, this card cannot declare an attack during your Battle Phase. This card gains 200 ATK for each card destroyed this way. If this card attacks a Level 5 or lower monster, destroy the monster with this card's effect without applying damage calculation.

Effect: Once per turn, during your Standby Phase, select 1 Set card on your opponent's side of the field. Pick it up and look at it, then return it to its original position. Once per turn, during your End Phase, you can pay 150 Life Points to look at 1 card on the top of your opponent's Deck and return it to its original position. Your opponent cannot look at the card.

Effect: During battle between this attacking card and a Defense Position monster whose DEF is lower than the ATK of this card, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent. When this card is removed from the field, you can pay 1000 Life Points. If you do, remove this card from play. During the second Standby Phase after this effect was activated, Special Summon this card in Attack Position. When this card is Summoned by this effect, all non-EARTH monsters lose 600 ATK.

Effect: Once per turn, during your Main Phase, if you control this monster on the field, you can equip it to a "Agarthan" monster on your side of the field as an Equip Spell Card OR unequip the Union equipment and Special Summon this card in face-up Attack Position. While equipped to a monster by this card's effect, once per turn, if the equipped monster would be destroyed by battle, it is not destroyed. (Damage calculation is applied normally). (1 monster can only be equipped with 1 Union Monster at a time. If the equipped monster is destroyed as a result of battle, destroy this card instead.)

Effect: This card is treated as a Normal Monster while face-up on the field or in the Graveyard. While this card is face-up on the field, you can Normal Summon it to have it be treated as an Effect Monster with this effect:

- This card can attack twice during your Battle Phase. Once per turn, during your End Phase, destroy 1 face-down card on the field. If you do not, this card cannot attack during your next Battle Phase.

Effect: This card is treated as a Normal Monster while face-up on the field or in the Graveyard. While this card is face-up on the field, you can Normal Summon it to have it be treated as an Effect Monster with this effect:

- This card cannot be destroyed by Level 4 or lower monsters. If this card is destroyed by battle, Special Summon 1 "Agarthan Plane" monster in Attack Position.

Effect: This card is treated as a Normal Monster while face-up on the field or in the Graveyard. While this card is face-up on the field, you can Normal Summon it to have it be treated as an Effect Monster with this effect:

- As long as this card remains face-up on the field, each time your opponent activates a card effect, you can pay 500 Life Points. If you do, negate the effect. While your Life Points are lower than your opponent's, this card gains 1200 ATK.

Effect: This card is also treated as an EARTH monster. Once per turn, during your End Phase, you can remove this card from play. If you do, you can Normal Summon 1 additional time this turn, except Tribute Summon. During your next Standby Phase, return this card to the field in face-up Attack Position. This card gains 100 ATK for each monster Summoned by this card's effect. When this card is removed from the field, remove from play 1 monster Summoned by this card's effect.

Effect: This card is also treated as a DARK monster. Once per turn, during your opponent's Standby Phase, select 1 card in your opponent's hand and add it to your hand. If this card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, add 1 card in your opponent's Graveyard to your Deck.

Effect: Once per turn, if this card would be destroyed by battle, it is not. (Damage calculation is applied normally.) Each time a non-Machine-Type monster is destroyed by battle, you can pay 400 Life Points. If you do, this card gains DEF equal to the destroyed monster's Level x 200, until your opponent's End Phase. If you activate this effect, this card is switched to Defense Position and this card's battle position cannot be changed until your next Draw Phase.

Effect: Each time this card destroys a monster by battle, put 1 Agarthan Counter on this card (Max. 4). This card gains 150 ATK for each Agarthan Counter on this card. Once per turn, during your Standby Phase, you can remove any number of Agarthan Counters from this card to destroy an equal number of Level 8 or lower non-"Agarthan" monsters on the field. If you do, you must skip your Battle Phase. When this card is destroyed by battle, Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower "Agarthan" monster from your Deck in Attack Position.

Effect: The Fusion Materials for this card are any 2 Level 5 or higher "Agarthan" monsters you control. This card is also treated as an EARTH monster. This card gains 200 ATK for each face-up "Agarthan" monster on the field. Twice per turn, you can negate the effect of a Spell or Trap Card that designates this card. When this card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, Special Summon 1 of the Fusion Materials from your Graveyard.

Effect: Remove any number of monsters in your Graveyard from play. Add an equal number of "Agarthan" monsters from your Deck to your hand. During your End Phase, you can Special Summon any Level 4 or lower monsters added by this card's effect.

Special Summon 1 "Forgotten" monster from your hand, Deck or Graveyard whose Level is equal to or less than the discarded monster's. Effect: This card is also treated as a DARK Spellcaster-Type monster. As long as this card remains face-up on the field, "Lemurian" monsters you control cannot be destroyed by battle. (Damage calculation is applied normally.) When this card would be removed from the field, you can pay 1200 Life Points. If you do, send all cards on the field and in both players' hands to the Graveyard. This effect can only be used once per Duel.

Effect: This card gains 200 ATK for each WATER monster you control. Once per turn, you can discard 1 Level 4 or lower WATER monster from your Deck. If you do, destroy 1 face-up Level 4 or lower monster on the field. This card is treated as 2 Tributes for the Tribute Summon of a WATER monster.

Effect: This card is treated as a Normal Monster while face-up on the field or in the Graveyard. While this card is face-up on the field, you can Normal Summon it to have it be treated as an Effect Monster with this effect:

- This card is also treated as a Warrior-Type monster. During each of your End Phases, destroy 1 Level 4 or lower non-WATER monster your opponent controls.

Effect: This card is also treated as a Winged Beast-Type monster. Once per turn, during your Main Phase, if you control this monster on the field, you can equip it to a "Lemurian" monster you control as an Equip Spell Card OR unequip the Union equipment and Special Summon this card in face-up Attack Position. While equipped to a monster by this card's effect, each time the equipped monster destroys a monster by battle, Special Summon 1 "Lemuria Token" (Aqua-Type/WATER/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0). The equipped monster gains 250 ATK for each "Lemuria Token" on the field. (1 monster can only be equipped with 1 Union Monster at a time. If the equipped monster is destroyed as a result of battle, destroy this card instead.)

Effect: This card is also treated as a Warrior-Type monster. When this card is Summoned, destroy up to 3 cards your opponent controls. Pay Life Points equal to the total Levels of monsters destroyed by this card's effect x 100. Each time this card destroys a monster by battle, add 1 "Lemurian" monster to your hand from your Deck or Graveyard whose Level is equal to the destroyed monster's.

Effect: This card cannot be Special Summoned. This card cannot be removed from the field, except by its own effect. (Damage calculation is applied normally.) Each time this card would be removed from the field, put 1 counter on this card (Max. 5). Once per turn, during your Main Phase, you can remove any number of counters from this card. Destroy an equal number of Level 5 or lower monsters on your opponent's side of the field. This card is removed from play during the second End Phase after it is Summoned.

Each time you Summon a monster, put 1 counter on this card (Max. 2). Once per turn, you can discard 1 Spell or Trap Card from your hand. If you do, destroy all face-down Spell and Trap Cards on the field. During each of your End Phases, you can Special Summon 1 Level 5 or lower "Lemurian" monster from your Graveyard. The Summoned monster is destroyed during your opponent's End Phase.

Each time your opponent activates a Spell or Trap Card, put 1 counter on this card (Max. 8). If this card is destroyed by a card effect, remove all counters from this card and discard a number of cards from your opponent's Deck equal to the number of removed counters.

Effect: The Fusion Materials for this card are any 2 Level 6 or higher Sea Serpent-Type monsters. This card is treated as a "Lemurian" monster. Once per turn, you can discard 1 Sea Serpent-Type monster in your hand and pay 500 Life Points to destroy all non-Sea Serpent-Type monsters your opponent controls. When this card attacks directly the damage this card does to your opponent is halved.

Effect: This card is used to Ritual Summon "Colossos : Serpent of The Depths". You must also offer WATER monsters from the field or hand whose total Levels equal 10 or more as a Tribute.

Effect: This card can only be Ritual Summoned with the Ritual Spell Card "Deep Oceans". This card is treated as a "Lemurian" monster. Once per turn, you can discard 2 cards to Special Summon as many Level 5 or lower Sea Serpent-Type monsters as possible from your Deck. A monster Special Summoned by this effect cannot declare an attack and its effect(s) is negated. If this card is targeted by a Spell, Trap, or Effect Monster's effect, you can Tribute 1 other Sea Serpent-Type monster to negate the effect.

When this card is Synchro Summoned, destroy all cards on the field, except this card. Put 1 Manta Counter on this card for each Monster Card destroyed by this card's effect. During each of your End Phases, put 1 Manta Counter on this card (Max. 10). Once per turn, during your Standby Phase, you can remove any number of Manta Counters to Special Summon 1 "Lemurian" monster whose Level is equal to the number of removed Manta Counters.

Effect: 1 Spellcaster-Type Tuner + 1 or more WATER non-Tuner monsters

When this card is Summoned, Special Summon 1 Level 5 or lower "Lemurian" monster from your Graveyard, ignoring the Summoning conditions. The Summoned monster is destroyed during your opponent's next End Phase. By sending this face-up card from the field to the Graveyard, Special Summon any Level 7 or lower "Lemurian" Monster from your Deck.

Effect: There can only be 1 "Infernal Beast-Keeper" on the field. This card is also treated as an EARTH Beast-Warrior-Type monster. Each time this card destroys a monster by battle, you can select 1 Card Zone on your opponent's side of the field. If it is a Monster Card Zone, discard 1 Monster Card from your hand. If it is a Spell & Trap Card Zone, discard 1 Spell or Trap Card from your hand. If you do, your opponent cannot use the selected Card Zone, until your next Draw Phase.

Effect: This card is also treated as a WIND monster. When this card is Summoned, destroy 1 Level 2 or lower non-DARK monster on the field. If no Monster Card on your opponent's side of the field is in the same column as this card, it can attack your opponent directly.

Effect: This card can only be Normal Summoned or Set by Tributing 1 "Infernal" and 1 Dragon-Type monster. As long as this card remains face-up on the field, each time your opponent activates a Spell or Trap Card in the same column as an "Infernal" monster, inflict 500 damage to your opponent. If no Spell, Trap or Monster Card is on your opponent's side of the field is in the same column as this card, it can attack your opponent directly.

Effect: This card can only be Normal Summoned or Set by Tributing 3 DARK monsters. Any Battle Damage this card's controller takes is reduced to 0. If this card is destroyed by battle, or by your opponent's card effect while it is a Monster Card, equip it to a monster your opponent controls during the End Phase of the turn. Each time the equipped monster declares an attack, toss a coin and call it. If you call it right, select 1 monster on your opponent's side of the field, except the equipped monster. The equipped monster and the selected monster must battle. When the equipped monster is removed from the field, this card is removed from play.

Effect: This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned by Tributing 1 Beast-Warrior-Type monster. This card is also treated as an EARTH monster. Twice per turn, before your Battle Phase, you can pay 500 Life Points. If you do, destroy 1 Level 4 or lower monster your opponent controls. If you activate this effect, you must skip your Battle Phase this turn.

Effect: This card can only be Normal Summoned or Set by Tributing 2 DARK monsters. If this card attacks a Level 5 or lower monster, destroy the monster with this card's effect without applying damage calculation. During your End Phase, you can destroy up to 3 cards on the field. If you do, pay Life Points equal to the number of cards destroyed in this way x 400.

When this card is Summoned, destroy all cards in this card's column. This card is also treated as an EARTH monster. As long as this card remains face-up on the field, Card Zones on your opponent's side of the field in this card's column cannot be activated. Pay 250 Life Points during each of your End Phases, if you do not, you cannot Set Spell or Trap Cards in this card's column.

Effect: Discard 3 Monster Cards from your hand or field to activate this card. Equip only to a monster on your opponent's side of the field. The equipped monster cannot be removed from the field. (Damage calculation is applied normally.) Control of the equipped monster cannot switch after this effect has been activated. The equipped monster must battle if possible. Each time the equipped monster destroys a monster by battle, put 1 Infernal Counter on this card. The equipped monster gains 500 ATK for each Infernal Counter on this card. Once per turn, you can remove any number of Infernal Counters on this card. Select a number of monsters your opponent controls equal to the number of removed Infernal Counters, including the equipped monster. The selected monsters cannot declare an attack or be removed from the field during your opponent's next turn. (Damage calculation is applied normally.) During the fourth End Phase after this card was activated, this card is removed from play.

Effect: This card cannot be Special Summoned. This card can only be Normal Summoned or Set by Tributing 3 DARK monsters. Each time this card destroys a monster by battle, put 1 Arcane Counter from this card. When this card has 3 Arcane Counters on it, remove all counters and Tribute this card and Special Summon 1 "Arcane Evil - 1st Form" from your hand, Deck or Graveyard.

Effect: This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned by the effect of "Ancient Darkness". As long as this card remains face-up on the field, once per turn, you can Special Summon 1 "Possessed" monster whose Level is equal to or lower than this card by Tributing 1 monster of the same Type from your hand or Deck. This card gains 150 ATK for each face-up "Possessed" monster on the field.

As long as this card remains face-up on the field, twice per turn, you can Special Summon 1 "Possessed" monster whose Level is equal to or lower than this card by Tributing 1 monster of the same Type from your hand or Deck. This card gains 100 ATK for each non-"Possessed" monster in the Graveyard.

As long as this card remains face-up on the field, 3 times per turn, you can Special Summon 1 "Possessed" monster whose Level is equal to or lower than this card by Tributing 1 monster of the same Type from your hand or Deck. As long as this card remains face-up on the field, each time a "Possessed" monster inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent, your opponent must discard 2 cards from their hand. If this card would be destroyed by battle, you can Tribute 1 "Possessed" monster you control. If you do, this card is not destroyed. (Damage calculation is applied normally.) During each of your End Phases, add 1 "Possessed" monster from your Graveyard from your Deck.

Effect: This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned by the effect of "Arcane Evil" monsters or from the Graveyard. This card is also treated as a Fiend-Type monster. When this card is summoned, gain Life Points equal to the number of "Possessed" monsters on the field x 150. As long as this card remains in the Graveyard, neither player can Special Summon Winged Beast-Type monsters from the Graveyard.

Effect: This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned by the effect of "Arcane Evil" monsters or from the Graveyard. This card is also treated as a Fiend-Type monster. As long as this card remains face-up on the field, all non-DARK monsters lose an amount of ATK equal to their Level x 100. As long as this card remains in the Graveyard, neither player can Special Summon Dragon-Type monsters from the Graveyard.
