I have an honest, sincere question(s).

I'd say to justify some point of view.

There was an email floating around the internet of a quote from the Muslim bible predicting/supporting the war on Iraq. Completely fabricated of course.

There is no spoon. <-- That's why.

It isn't actually in their siggys. You're just imagining things.

Well played.

But seriously' date=' I am asking why. Does it make you feel good? Do you like flaunting your Christianity?

[/quote']

Just like you like flaunting your ego.

This user will prove your idiocy.

And the answer about your question is still the same: The same reason why people put quote in their sigs, not matter of what nature.

Religious quotes, general quotes, Yugioh quotes, IDK...

Atheists are a minority, a hated minority.

Not necessarily on these forums, but in the US, and many other parts of the world (not europe, they know what they're doing for the most part)

It is, a sad fact, that being proud of being atheist is frowned upon, and being a proud (insert religion) is a good thing. As for the actual topic, people do it because they like to take pride in their religion. Which is a deadly sin iirc (maybe just in yourself?)

Oh, it's just like quoting your favorite line from a TV show, as has been said. They just happen to be from the Bible. The main problem with an atheism quote is only when it's directly attacking X religion. the religious quote isn't attacking atheism (well, directly anyway). It's when the quote is trying to be offensive to a large amount of people in a way perceived as 'serious' when it becomes a problem.

Your sig, Dark, says you are an atheist and proud of it. Not attacking religion, simply says you don't believe in it. There is no problem there, and if someone has a problem with it, that's just sad...

DesCrow: I'm going to assume you're from the US then. Which from what I heard and read can be pretty weird in terms of religions.:?

But I wouldn't go as far as to say that most religions are smiled upon. If you say "I'm a proud Wiccan" I bet you do get frowned upon in most parts of the world.=/

And Aelsthla pretty much said it.:)

If it's not insulting any other belief then there's really no problem with it.

hmm, it is a shame that a Wiccan can't practice in public without being perceived as strange or being frowned upon.

Well they can practice and be open about it, at least in certain countries. There's Pagan Pride and stuff like that.

On one side religious movements like Wicca are gaining a lot of popularity but I know that they're not as widely accepted as the 5 main religions yet.

If you say that you're from the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn you might get strange reactions too.

But this was more of a reply to DesCrow's statement about "It is, a sad fact, that being proud of being atheist is frowned upon, and being a proud (insert religion) is a good thing."

Although in my country if you believe in anything you look like a strange bird anyway.:?
