2 Years before Neku Sakuraba entered The Reaper's Game, a group of people had been in an accident on a local bus. The bus was driving while it was bucketing down rain. And oncoming truck full of furniture had hit the gutter and spun out. The bus smashed into the truck. Everyone but the Bus Driver had died. Hours before the bus crashed, a Reaper named Katsunori Hideaki had just defeated the Composer of Shibuya and became the new Composer. Katsunori selected his mate from the Reapers to be the Conductor. He chose the Game Master by looking at how Skillful each of the Reapers were and chose the one with the most Skill.
