Yes, why not? The only restrictions are related to this card's effect, type and level. It can be any subtype you want excepting union.

Well, it just so happens that I've been working on Insect-Type monsters which summon tokens.

[spoiler=Effect:]1 Insect-Type Tuner monster + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters.

Once per turn, you can pay 1000 Life Points to Special Summon 1 Normal monster from your hand. When this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle and removes it from play, Special Summon 1 "Terrorbug Token" (Insect-Type/DARK/Level 1/ATK 0/ DEF 500) to your opponent's side of the field.. During your Standby Phase, draw 1 card for every "Terrorbug Token" your opponent controls. This card can be used as 2 Tributes for the Tribute Summon of a Level 7 monster.

When you activate a Spell card during your turn place 1 'Magic Butterfly Token' (Insect-Type/WIND/4 Star/ATK 2000/DEF 2000) in Attack or Defense Position on the your side of the field. When there is at least 1 'Magic Butterfly Token' on the field this card cannot be selected as an attack target.
