Spell Card: Natural Selection

賢狼ホロ

Recommended Posts

OCG fix: This card cannot be destroyed or negated on the turn it is activated. At each player's End Phase destroy all monsters on the field except the monster with the highest ATK and the highest DEF.

. . . or something like that. anyway, it's OP'd and there are obviously some minor OCG errors. and its a little bland. i recommend giving it a drawback, fixing it's OCG and give it another effect.

7/10 for the time being

Don't press ENTER/RETURN after a sentence. The card's flavor texts are not written as paragraphs or lists. That, and the space between the sentences looks kind of..."tacky." The "can't be negated" and "can't be destroyed" effects are also "tacky."

"[...]clarify "ATK or DEF" in the last line for me.[...]"

Sure, I will.

Player 1

- Monster A (1500 ATK, 1000 DEF)

- Monster B (1200 ATK, 700 DEF)

Player 2

- Monster C (1500 ATK, 1200 DEF)

- Monster D (700 ATK, 1500 DEF)

In this situation, I had in mind that only monster B would be destroyed, as it is the only card without either ATK or DEF value that is 1500. If monster B on the other hand had 1700 ATK or DEF, all other would be destroyed.

Because this is probably quite complicated, what say you about changing it to the combined value of ATK + DEF? In the example above, only monster C would be left on the field.

The general opinion seems to be that it is overpowered. I thought that the fact that the card can be turned from advantage to disadvantage by e.g. "Lightning Vortex". If the player originally using the effect of Natural Selection cannot bring out a monster on par with his opponent he will be at the same disadvantage his opponent was before.

Now, I have only had like ten duels in my life so I hardly know much, but it clearly seems to be overpowered from your statements.

What about "reversing" the effect? Changing "only the strongest survives" to "only the weakest dies"?

Again weakest in the meaning of the sum of ATK + DEF?

I shall also try to find a new picture.

Thank you.
