Jack came to, he looked around for a second before seeing a girl from earlier on....AJ iif he remembered correctly. He then suddenly realised where he was, that spiders den. He slowly turned his head to look at Arrak, one eye open and the other closed. He had to take a chance, he nodded at AJ and sprung to his feet and started running again, he was a little dazed but could still think straight enough to run.

Everything happened so fast, too fast for Ephraim. At first only he and Hesperus had been in the hall then suddenly a monster and Hayate and all the other students. He had no time to react to the monster's movements. Before he knew what was happening the monster was gone. His lance dissipated into wind. He walked up to Hesperus.

"I guess it's safe now so I thought I should give you this back." he said as he handed her the card she had dropped.

"You dropped it when you went outside." Ephraim said.

"You dropped it as you left to take a walk." Ephraim said, a little alarmed by Hesperus' reaction.

"I guess it's important. I didn't want to leave it there or you might never have gotten it back." Ephraim said.

"It means..."

Hesperus pulled another card from her deck. The picture was almost the same, except the man was now a skeleton, holding a bloody scythe in his hand.

"The Hanged-Man is the tarot card of omens. It and the tarot card Death almost go hand-in-hand..."

She sighed. "Drawing The Hanged-Man from my deck means that someone is in grave danger, and if we don't help them, our lives will be drastically affected... "

"This is bad. I have no way of telling who it is or how i'm even supposed to save them..."

"It's probably some one in the Academy right? I mean it would make sense. Someone we don't know couldn't really affect our lives. We should bring this up to Hayate. If the whole academy is on guard we should be able to prevent, or at least react to quickly, any strange occurrences." Ephraim said. This card certainly wasn't good news.

"Yes, that sounds like a good plan, however..."

Hesperus held the two tarot cards in front of her, their images pointing toward Ephraim.

"I don't know how much time we have. If we are not succesful, and the person dies, both of these cards will glow red... We need to do this now. It's dangerous, but it's the only way to get rid of such misfortune before it gets rid of us!"

"Okay....." Ephraim said abruptly cutting himself off. Something felt wrong, horribly wrong. He'd felt it before, the same feeling as that day. Without a warning he rushed off looking for a room, any room, to run into.

"I can't let myself kill any of them." Ephraim thought as he ran. The rage that came as a result of not transforming each day was setting in. If he didn't get it taken care of soon he would go into the same rage that killed his father.

Ephraim kept running. He was losing his senses. He didn't care anymore. He ran into the next door he saw, which happened to be a decently large closet. Inside he locked the door and transformed. Now in his tiger form the rage receded. He calmed down and began to relax. He was glad that he hadn't hurt anyone.

Ephraim heard Hesperus at the door. He could still talk but actually approaching her would be odd. He decided he should talk to her before she forced the door down.

"I'm fine." He said.

"Sorry I ran off, it's complicated."

"You sure you want to hear it? It's quite the unbelievable tale." Ephraim said. Was he really ready to tell someone? He wasn't sure. Hesperus wanted to know Ephraim decided to tell her.

"I'll tell you. Apparently one of my ancestors was cursed by a traveling wizard long ago. No one really knows the details of why it happened. But he was given the ability to turn into an animal at his own will. When he had a family he unknowingly transferred it to his eldest son and it continued down the line...... to me." Ephraim said suddenly opening up. He couldn't stop himself.

"That ability is mine now. I can turn into a tiger whenever I feel like it. But if I don't spend at least 3 hours in that form each day then..................." He couldn't continue. Memories of his father were welling up inside of him.

Hesperus opened the door. She was face to face with a tiger-human... And she was quite intruiged.

"Oh, that was one powerful wizard!" She said, tugging on his fur. "You look exactly like a tiger! Whiskers and everything!" She tugged on the whiskers next.

"You even have the nails! Oh, and the teeth!" She said, lifting up his hand and then, opening his mouth with two fingers to examine inside.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Ephraim asked.

"My family had a friend, a vet, come over once and examine me in this form and he didn't notice anything wrong with me. Aside from the fact that I could talk." Ephraim said. Hesperus' examination of him still a little odd to him.
