Maturity

Some people say that young women are usually 2 to 3 years more mature than young men. Do you agree?

I would not say that, because it all depends on how the person(s) were taught while they were growing up.

To say that men or women act more mature based on age, is preposterous. Maturity isn't gained from birth, it is gained from knowledge and understanding.

Agreed with OP.

Pretty much word for word too.

Who is OP?

Women on average tend to be more impressionable to society's arbitrary rules. So in one meaning of the word' date=' they are indeed.

Again, on average, that is a statistic. When was this poll taken? At birth before they learn anything? Or after college? Or highschool? Or marriage? Again that does not disprove the fact that maturity is gained from knowledge and understanding.

AGREE!!!

women are ALWAYS better than men. FACT

Prove it' date=' so me the fact and the evidence supporting it.

[hr']This discussion is not about who is better then someone else, but it is about Maturity.

Not really. They just instinctively take on more responsibilities than men at that age.

It's more of an environmental thing than not. And most guys LIKE their childish side, so it appears like we are immature most of the time.

Maturity is a real pain, because every parent thinks that when a kid reaches a certain age they aren't supposed to act like kids anymore. It pisses me off kinda. Because even though we may be growing up we are supposed to have fun, amirite?

Because even a few adult act childish sometimes.

Meh' date=' if they are they are. There's no general point to it.

Men are better than women at some things and women are better than men at other things.Srsly.

This thread isn't about one being better than the other. It's about whether or not maturity is based on age.

They, so your speaking for every women that has and will ever be born?

It is about how the person is raised and whether or not that person chooses to follow those ways. If your raised in a drug home the chances of that person being mature when or before someone who was raised in a law abiding home is incredibly low.

Maturity and responsibility is not an instinct.

How someone's attempts to teach you knowledge and understanding work are dependent on who you are innately, however. Society for the most part has an equal effect on all of us, but how greatly it alters us depends on who we are already.

And OP means original poster.

To the bolded.

It depends on if you are willing to listen or not. Beyond that it all depends on what you learn.

And thank you for answering my question.

But whether you're willing to learn or not depends on who you are innately, which isn't something you can change.

I agree with the OP on many points. Age is not a direct controller of maturity, but as one ages they gain new experiences and knowledge - one will typically be more mature near the end of their education than half way though. However, it is perfectly possible for people to not take these lessons onboard and be more immature than others their age or younger or to understand these lessons well and become more mature than people much older.

Age does not give maturity, it gives chances for it.

Pardon me? I knew you were generalizing, that is why I continued to explain my thoughts. If I did not think you were generalizing I would have said so, and left not explanation of thought.

Why so uptight?

@zeroshot We are not talking about that kind of maturity. Of course puberty deals with age as well as what the body absorbs. We are talking about the intellectual maturity.
