I can agree with the OP. The thing about maturity is that it does varie in a sense of physical and mental stimulus. I grew up on video games so I have the mind of a 10 year old. My ma always has that serious demenior about her. She grew up working and not playing so she matured pretty quickly. Same can be said about My eldest sister. Heck even my youngest sister is more mature than me. I can think of quite a few others as well. It's all just a matter of how you live your life.

Actually one of my friends (Male) is a few years younger than me and is far more mature. He plays sports and does Karate but he also plays cards and video games just the same. He's a smart person and a strong fighter so I can think of a male who's more mature than me.

Can you prove this? Can you come up with a reasonable well thought out explanation, of why kids who listen to rap and read twilight are less mature? Now, can you explain things that would cause them to listen to rap and read this book? Can you come up with any other outside factors that would actually attribute to being less mature, other than blaming it on two things that by themselves do not cause immatureness?

(if we are not discussing physical maturity) Maturity is when someone is willing to take responsiblity for their actions. One's actions does not decide whether they are mature or not. That is all relantive. To what extent they take responsiblity for their actions depends on how they were brought up as a child and their culture. Although it shouldn't, it also depends on what others expect from them

Intellectuall maturity depends completely on the person, not the gender, or sometimes not even age. A soul knows no gender, and I despise the idea that a gender rules another, or a race rules another, or labeling of another race/gender, such as saying men are immature, less smart than women, etc.

 

People are unique in almost every aspect, and maturity is no exception. When a 20 year old male acts like a 14 year old, and a 20 year old women is sticking her tongue out at all the men she sees and says "Na na, girls are better than boys!", who is more mature? It all depends on the person, not the gender, not the age, the person.

 

It depends on who they are, who they have chosen to be, and who their parents raised them to be. It depends entirely on them.

To me, I think it's impossible to truly evaluate what maturity is since everybody has more or less different standards than everyone else. Maturity is extremely relying on past experiences, as well as culture, education and opinions. One might be immature to someone but mature to someone else, at some extent.

 

People tend to mix up knowledge, manners and maturity... which adds to how complicated evaluating is...
