When people speak of the Great Depression, they generally refer to the American one. Only problem was, it was worse in Europe, especially in Germany. In 1921, Germany's financial problems began, prices saw a steady rise, caused by inflation, it was 12 marks for an apple in 1921. This was because Germany was forced to print over 100 billion marks to pay the French as wartime reparations, and when a government prints money, people get richer and richer, making higher and higher prices.

 

We've all seen our grandparents tell the story of the Great Depression, it is 1923, the setting is in Munich, Germany. Now it is time to look at the Depression with different eyes, the eyes of a German Civilian, one who just had their entire national pride destroyed, from well-to-do classes to the lines waiting for bread...
