"That's just natural."

OoC: Can you give me a sec? I need to check my HPatPS book.

EDIT: The teacher then said "Welcome to Hogwarts. The start-of-term banquet will begin shortly, but before you take your seats in the Great Hall, you will be sorted into your houses. The Sorting is a very important ceremony because, while you are here, your houses will be something likeyour family within Hogwarts You will have classes with the rest of the house, sleep in your house dormitary and spend free time in your house common room."

OoC: I'll just use the old one. Oh and I edited my last post. Anyway...

"The four houses are called Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Each house has it's own noble history and each has produced outstanding witches and wizards. While you are at Hogwarts, your triumphs will earn your house points, while any rule-breaking will lose house points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the House Cup, a great honor. I hope each of you will be a credit to whichever house becomes yours."

The teacher then told the 1st years to make a line, and so they did. "Now follow me."

OoC: If you want to change your dormitory's. Now's your last chance.

Shortly afterward, the teacher put a 4-legged stool in front of the 1st years then placed a wizard's hat on it.

OoC: You can explain everything else. You can make the teacher call your name (In the order "Last name, First name), make the hat say what house you're going to be in and stuff.

The wizard's hat then suddenly spoke and then started to sing a song.

"In times of old, when I was new,

And Hogwarts barely started,

The founders of our noble school

Thought never to be parted.

United by a common goal,

They had the selfsame yearning

To make the world's best magic school

And pass along their learning.

"Together we will build and teach"

The four good friends decided.

And never did they dream that they

Might some day be divided.

For were there such friends anywhere

As Slytherin and Gryffindor?

Unless it was the second pair

Of Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw,

So how could it have gone so wrong?

How could such friendships fail?

Why, I was there, so I can tell

The whole sad, sorry tale.

Said Slytherin, "We'll teach just those

Whose ancestry's purest."

Said Ravenclaw, "We'll teach those whose

Intelligence is surest."

Said Gryffindor, "We'll teach all those

With brave deeds to their name."

Said Hufflepuff, "I'll teach the lot

And treat them just the same."

These differences caused little strife

When first they came to light.

For each of the four founders had

A house in which they might

Take only those they wanted, so,

For instance, Slytherin

Took only pure-blood wizards

Of great cunning just like him.

And only those of sharpest mind

Were taught by Ravenclaw

While the bravest and the boldest

Went to daring Gryffindor.

Good Hufflepuff, she took the rest

and taught them all she knew,

Thus, the houses and their founders

Maintained friendships firm and true.

So Hogwarts worked in harmony

for several happy years,

but then discord crept among us

feeding on our faults and fears.

The Houses that, like pillars four

had once held up our school

now turned upon each other and

divided, sought to rule.

And for a while it seemed the school

must meet an early end.

what with dueling and with fighting

and the clash of friend on friend.

And at last there came a morning

when old Slytherin departed

and though the fighting then died out

he left us quite downhearted.

And never since the founders four

were whittled down to three

have the Houses been united

as they once were meant to be.

And now the Sorting Hat is here

and you all know the score:

I sort you into Houses

because that is what I'm for.

But this year I'll go further,

listen closely to my song:

though condemned I am to split you

still I worry that it's wrong,

Though I must fulfill my duty

and must quarter every year

still I wonder whether sorting

may not bring the end I fear.

Oh, know the perils, read the signs,

the warning history shows,

for our Hogwarts is in danger

from external, deadly foes

And we must unite inside her

or we'll crumble from within

I have told you, I have warned you...

let the Sorting now begin."

The teacher then said "I shall read your names and then you shall go to the hat and put it on you. After it decides your house, you must go to the respective house's table."

OOC: Blarrr! Stuff happened without me!

IC: The teacher looked up and read out.

"Greatvine, Billy!"

Billy eagerly ran up to the stool and gripped the hat.

What house will I be in?! he thought to himself as he put the hat on. His dad had never told him what house he was in.

The hat's "mouth" twisted in a frown, as if it couldn't make up it's mind. Eventually, it called out;

"Slytherin!"

Billy got up, placed the hat on the stool and ran to his new table and sat down by some third years.

"Shirokiba, Daniel"

Dan hurried up to the stool.

"Hmm," the hat said. "Where to put you. You've got a bit of everything."

"Gryffindor, please!" Dan whispered

"Why would i do that?"

"I hate snakes, Hufflepuff sounds girly, and birds are food. Besides, I should be in the house with the lion, the house of the brave!"

"Fair enough," the hat chuckled. "You seem to be at least reckless enough too. Gryffindor!"

With a pleased smile, Dan walked down and sat beside a pretty second year girl.

By now Rada had entered the Great Hall and was seated amongst her fellow second years at the Gryffindor table, watching the sorting. She remembered last year, when it had been her sorting, and how the hat had been torn between putting her in Gryffindor or Ravenclaw, eventually going for Gryffindor.

"Brandon Petsy" the teacher read out and he moved up towards the stool and sat down. The hat thought for a second, "Gryffindor" he shouted making Brandon jump and the hat fell on the floor, "Sorry there, you just shouted that when I least expected it" and picked up the hat giving it to the teacher and walked fast over to the Gryffindor table.

Xeno walked over to his table. He sat down and introduced himself. "Hi. My name is Xenophillius Lovegood." Some people around him turned around. They remembered the story of Harry potter. They remembered that the Lovegood's played a instrumental part. They also knew the name had disappeared for years. The Lovegoods had virtually vanished.
