assanaut
Okay, what if there was a story about a group of pot-head card -players who just love the card game. They appear as idols to kids but get schooled by the better duelists. They can't afford the good cards, so they just scrimp and scrape for good cards (one kid's sole desire is to get a Mirror Force). It's all set in modern times and includes a steady, consistent amount of cultural references. The basis: an underdog story with a bit of romance if you feel like it. What do you all think? Guest Welche
this kid could just by a structure deck, then beat all his friends, jump off a bridge and become king of the world even though he is dead. Unless the bad guy activates his dark power of doom and stuff.

Amethyst Phoenix
This plot is almost as silly as making a tv series about a world in which all disputes are settled with childrens' card games.
bury the year
From a literary/fanfic perspective, this is an interesting idea, playing YGO straight in the real world without parodying it. I'd say go for it.
