that and they only had what' date=' 200 guys, tops?

now, everyone has, 2000 guys, minimum?

yeah, you see the problem now.

Please try to sound smarter. Your post makes no real sense, and I don't see the problem because your post is hard to read.

I thought Communism was a political philosophy that only worked under a dictatorship...

lolno

So how exactly did Athens work out to be a real democracy?

I dunno. I'll just get my time machine and go check...

Athens was a city-state, thus they couldn't have had a large population. Nowadays, no country has a small enough population to for Democracy to be as effective as it was in Athens, now do you see the problem?

That's what I thought you mean't. I was thrown off by the incorrect assumtions. Attica, the place where ancient Athens was located, was populated by about 250,000 Free men, women and children, all of them claiming to be athenian. (You could probably double that if you count slaves, but I wouldn't) So if 2000 is to big to have a working democracy, 250,000 would be much too big, wouldn't it?

Dark, I hate you for bringing Greece into this =/

smart@$$

Yup.

Yup.

While it's still a large number, women and children were excluded from voting in Athens' democracy. Therefore it's substantially less than that number would suggest.

Greece failed because of its stupidity.

Though I share the same name with Alexander the Great...

Greece fell because of the absense of a decent leader when the Romans attacked.

Then Rome drove it into the ground.

Your stupid for calling my people stupid >.>

Meh. I have no feelings for your people. All they did was make me learn while I could've been doing something else.

I understand recent history, (and Mesopatamia for being the first recorded settlement to actually think about the heavens, Greece for having all those wrong ideas which were right in some ways and the gods and goddesses) but why learn ancient times?

So all Greeks are stupid because they made you learn?

What does Greek religious belief have to do with Democracy?

(P.s. I don't believe Mesopatamia is a settlement, I recall it being bigger than a settlement)

No, it isn't. I just felt that settlement would be the most fitting word.

I didn't say all Greeks were stupid because they made me learn. Stop rephrasing what I say!

I didn't specify Greek Religion. I just said gods and goddesses. (By Heaven and God and Goddesses, I mean stars.)

How will Greek History have an impact on my life again? Its not like I'm gonna let in some big, wooden horse into my house from an- owait, those were the Trojans.

You've just proved me right.

Why won't you let a trap disguised as a gift into your house? Because you know the story of the Trojan Horse.

And it is very applicable. You use that knowledge every time you don't open a virus laden email. Those viruses are called Trojans for a reason.

I actually like a breed of a democracy and a dictatorship' date=' if that makes any sense at all. The dictator has absolute power, yet the people are able to choose the dictator on a simple majority vote and have the power to impeach the dictator.

It works out so lovely, doesn't it?

Was it inhabited before then? maybe, I am ignorant and apathetic. but if not, then its a settlement.

also, you do know how to use that button saying "Quote+" right?

wait, how would you know the email was virus laden again? and isn't that why you use a firewall: so it'll scan the emails for viruses?

and how would knowing who greek history help me in my future? I plan on becoming a police officer, not a Geek Soldier.

If your still talking about Mesopatamia, it is not a settlement.

Mesopatamia was the dawn of civilation, however it was more of a Country because it contained several city-states.

Included in ancient Mesopatamia was Sumer, the first organized civilization.

I'm sure Sumer, Babylon, Assur or Larsa were originally settlements, but Mesopatamia wasn't.

It's easier to to copy and paste small segments of quotes when you want to direct your comment at a small portion of a large post. After that, the tags are easier to type than the [quote tag. As long as the other person understands, it's not a really big deal.

I'm sure you'll still manage to become a geek soldier >.>

And I don't really care about your life plans.

Do you plan on owning a home? Good thing the Greeks invented the most support beams.

Wanna see a movie? The Greeks invented Cinima.

Wanna keep posting in this thread? The Greeks invented Democracy, which is what this thread was for, not you trying to prove that your smart by bashing Greece. Yes, you are and you know it.
