"I did it for da lulz": An in-depth look into the mind of Anonymous

Now that all the trolls are banned, I see a lot of pro-mod comments being made around the forum. With that, I see an increasing number of anti-banned member comments. Things like "they were angry at the mods for doing their jobs", or "their stupid raid failed, so they spam attacked". I am here to take a closer look at the mentality behind these "trolls", and their "justice" that they demand. Now, I warn you, I cannot speak for all of them, but only for one.

 

Do I think that there is mod bias? Well, yes, I do think there is a good deal of bad judgment calls among the mods. But I promised myself I wouldn't turn this into another mod-bashing thread, so I'll leave it at that. Do I really want "justice"? I'm not stupid, I realize where I am. This is not a country, its an internet forum. There will be no revolution...what would happen in the case of this hypothetical "revolution" anyway? Would the mods be torn down from their position? We would only have new ones to deal with. Which brings me to the main point of this post: the "lulz".

 

Certain members have looked too deeply into our intentions. We aren't here to revolutionize YCM, we just don't find your boring pointless lives any fun to talk about. Just about everything I have ever posted on this forum has been a joke in some form. All of this- the "intentional spamming" to the spam raids- its for our entertainment.

 

And really, who have we hurt with our posts (keep in mind- I am talking about pre-raid. I won't deny that the porn raid was done with some degree of malicious intent)? The only people that seem to be offended are the mods. Their job isn't to take offense, their job is to keep this forum safe (ie, locking threads that encourage giving out of personal information, or will cause harm to one's computer; or threads containing pornographic or illegal content). I would like to see a more laissez-faire approach happen, although I know it will not.
