A Refreshing Twist on a Classic Story

I, personally, love to rant on things, but have recently run out of things to rant on. Poor me, so I decided to go back and provide a debate to a classic "I hate you, you ban me" story of the "I hate moderators" threads that exist today on this forum.

I am a supporter of the moderator staff on this forum, as they seem to be doing their jobs well if so many of you hate them oh-so-much to create rant threads, such as this one, just to state your opinion that you should not have been banned or had a thread locked. If you didn't break the rules, the mods wouldn't have to lock your threads or ban you in the first place. Read the rules.

Secondly, all of the people who rant about the moderators are often those who seem to be breaking a lot of the forum rules, such as the no spamming/flaming rule. Honestly, so many people exist nowadays just to spam, flame, and troll, that there is rarely a person seen who has not taken part in such activities, and I am no exception. I am no Ubermench above this universal law, but I will say that recently I have had a clean slate, not having any large quarrels against moderators, or any member for that matter.

Honestly, I see no point in complaining about someone who is doing their job well, to people who can do nothing but reply something along the lines of "I agree" or the much more common "Cool story, bro." If you have a problem with the moderation staff of the forum, message them directly if you wish for them to change something. If you find something or some ruling unfair, see their side of the story before you condemn them. I vaguely remember someone saying something like "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." You have broken the rules and have been punished justly. Rules are rules, you broke them, you have to do the hard time required. Sorry, that's life.

Just because you have a clean state doesn't necessarily mean they're doing their job well. >_>

No, no Polaris, you are missing the chain of events.

Person breaks rules -> Mod ups warning level -> (Repeat steps 1 and 2 until ban occurs) -> Person returns -> Person posts unnecessary thread bringing mod out onto table. -> Continuous banning makes multiple other persons do the same -> Community hatred for mods

So, if they are just doing their jobs, why are you mad?

Well Polaris, people do not automatically hate someone. If you hate Hitler, why do you hate Hitler? Because of the Holocaust. Why do people hate mods? Because that person got banned and wants some sort of self-satisfactory. Mods jobs are to ban people who continuously break rules. Therefore, if you are banned, you will get angry and want to get revenge, and thus mods have been doing their jobs.

I have been banned, but I still like the mods.

There is an exception to every rule. And you are one of the few. I have been banned. And as you can see I have no problem with the mods.

We aren't so hot-tempered. That's it. We stay calm and accept our mistakes. But some people just won't see what they've done wrong and go mad.

It's because some people let their emotions get the best of them that that happens You see it throughout history.

Banning people who continuously break the rules isn't what makes people angry with the moderators so much as the double-standards they impose and their lack of a solid system with actual statistics to show how harsh a punishment would be for which offenses, which allows them to make double standards in the first place.

Also, random impulsive unconventional banning, "spiritual locks", terms they can label any post they dislike with (stupid, pointless, annoying, etc), their idea that they know the intent behind every post or action, I could go on.

The goal is not to have people hate moderators, hatred isn't going to get the forum anywhere. The goal is to have co-operation between members and moderators alike and have a clearer fairer system for going about how offenses should be dealt with and identifying what they are.

Don't blame people for not looking at a certain perspective if you haven't yourself observed each one.

No' date=' Polaris, there is [i']nothing[/i] you can do about it. Get over yourself.

And this is where I come into it. You sir, are actually an idoit. I'm sorry Amethyst, I know I shouldn't use that term but he truly is. Nothinnend,g we can do about it, eh? So why do I get out of nearly every ban I've ever been given? Because I was wrongly banned. Moderators who cannot admit that they're wrong and just as human as us are pathetic. Lets start with your first point:

If you didn't break the rules' date=' the mods wouldn't have to lock your threads or ban you in the first place. Read the rules.

[/quote']

Why are you assuming that the Moderators have gotten the warning/banning correct? The reason they (or we, perhaps) complain is because they are unjust or stupid compared to others. I'll provide an example: kitty spams Relationships thread, gets 20% warn. I spam relationships thread with one post, I get an 80% warn. Why? Because kitty was favoured and I wasn't. You're also assuming that we haven't done the Rules, or that we do it on purpose. This is not only off-topic to your point, but it's also stupid.

Well Polaris' date=' people do not automatically hate someone. If you hate Hitler, why do you hate Hitler? Because of the Holocaust. Why do people hate mods? Because that person got banned and wants some sort of self-satisfactory. You didn't even answer his question. He asked why you're assuming that the Mods are doing their jobs correctly, not your shitty attempt at cause and effect. Just because the Mod bans someone, the fact that they get pissy shows that they're doing their job correctly? How does that even make sense? Again, you're assuming that the Mod in question is always right.

Complaining gets you nowhere.

Which is EXACTLY what you are doing. You've killed your whole argument. Thanks for that. =]

Now stop thinking that sucking up to the Mods will help you somehow, and that by saying things like 'you can do nothing' the Mods will protect you. Member before Moderator, and anyone who doesn't follow that is a horrible Moderator.

Case in point.

What if you were banned justly' date=' like most? You are stereotyping mods as tyrants.

[/quote']

I don't even have to reply to this, I've already won. But I will. The people that complain about their bans, for the most part, are the one's banned unjustly.

And you're stereotyping Mods as Gods who are always right. Just give up, you're not going to win this.
