Moth Remix

One of my personal pet peeves as a player of Yugioh for almost as long as it's been around was that some Archetypes that seemed so cool are just unplayable. That's what my REDO series is all about. The REDO series is not creating new cards, but an attempt to make older strategies competitive in the current playing environment.

Obviously, the artwork belongs to the makers of Yugioh, and some of the cards were virtually untouched.

After a fairly positive response from my Harpie Lady Remix, I decided to post a few more cards. This Archetype is a little smaller.

Here's a link to the previous set, just in case you're curious: Harpie Lady Remix

These cards are designed to work kind of like they did in the anime. If you are about to lose your monsters, you can let an incomplete version of your Moth come out of the Cocoon. Then, you can try to level it up later. You still need to stall and protect your incomplete Moth, but substantially less than the original (it only takes 3 turns to bring out this PUGM, plus, if it doesn't work, you can pull out an intermediate and try again later.)

Thoughts? Comments?

I'm thinking about doing Ninjas next.

EDIT: Made Petit Moth an effect monster. Should speed up the strategy greatly. Also took some suggestions on changing the bigger Moth's effects.

Ok. Comments to make them less "pointless"?

@Plasma: I wasn't shooting for creativity in the Art department. I have no artistic talent and I accept that. I'm trying to recreate older Archetypes in a manner that would make them competitive in the modern playing environment. This was a toughy, and I'm not sure I did as good a job as I did with the Harpies. And come on; Synchro Summoning during your opponent's turn? That's at least somewhat original...

Maybe I should make Petit Moth an effect monster that allows you to Special Summon the Cocoon from your hand. That would speed the process up a bit...

Scrapping the idea of Great Moth remakes. No originality. Making support for the pre-existing cards maybe.

It seems like when Konami has done that, it hasn't worked very well (see Dramatic Rescue). I kind of soap boxed on this issue in my other post, that adding new cards doesn't work if the original mechanic is broken.

That's why I think this is a better option. You only have to Main Deck 6 cards, both of which are very searchable. The Nomi monsters don't clog up your Deck. You can Synchro Dodge and Stall to level up your Moths. The big guys now have effects which make them at least somewhat worthy of all the effort it takes to get them out.

@Lovely Lady: What needs work?

I don't remember the anime PUGM having an effect. GM had the power down effect, so in that case, you should give PUGM a stronger version of the effect.
