Heavenly Protector Lumiangelus [EDITED]

Sweet Lightning

I hope you like my newest card creation. XD Hope it isn't too overpowered for your taste. (NOTE: The picture and the name of this card might seem familiar to one of my previous posts, way back when, but the effect is completely different now. :))

Effect: This card cannot be Special Summoned. When this card is Summoned it is changed to Defense Position. This card is also treated as a LIGHT monster. This card returns to the owner's hand during the End Phase of the turn that this card is Normal Summoned or flipped face-up. When this card is Normal Summoned or flipped face-up, place 1 Shield Counter on 1 face-up monster you control. If that monster would be destroyed, remove the Shield Counter instead. When this card is returned to your hand, Special Summon 1 "Protector's Blessing Token" (Fairy-Type/WIND/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0) in Defense Position. The token cannot be Tributed, except for the Tribute Summon of "Divine Protector Lumiangelus". When a "Protector's Blessing Token" is destroyed, the controller of that token gains 500 Life Points.

A little basic, but worthy of recognition. How will one recycle Tributes for this? I would have prefered this as an attacker, but it makes me wonder why I would play him. I know it protects your monsters from being destroyed for to be used as Tributes, but what if the monster is too good to Tribute? Think of a way to recycle Tributes or make another card in conjunction with this. 8/10.

Not useful. You lose 1 card advantage to gain only POTENTIAL 1 card advantage (I'm talking tributing a monster to prevent your monster from being destroyed by battle... card effects can still kill whatever has the Shield Counter & that same card can still be sent to your hand or the top of your Deck). The good thing about this card is that you get that little token in exchange for him being returned to your hand. So it kind of evens out...

I'd personally prefer a card that comes out, gives a Shield Counter, and have the Shield Counter protect from ANY destructive effect. And then get rid of that Token stuff -- no one really cares about a lvl 1 monster much anyways... especially if they're playing a deck with this guy in it.
