I was thinking that this could be a forbidden card that belonged to the king of the Shadow Realm.

 

 

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This monster can only be Special Summoned by tributing 3 Fiend-Type monsters on your side of the field. If a monster attacks this card, negate the attack and remove the attacking monster from play. You can then Special Summon 1 "Shadow Token" (Fiend-Type/DARK/Level 1/ATK ?/ DEF ?). The ATK and DEF points of the token is equal to the the ATK and DEF points of the most recent monster that attacked this card.

its effect isn't powerful enough to be considered a lv12 monster

 

I'd drop it down to just lv8 and down to 2 Fiend-Type tributes, along with adding some token restrictions

I dropped it down to a level 10, with only 3 tributes. Do you think I should drop it down more?
