Traditions are forever

Traditions suck. They are limiting and/or demanding. They are also Christian.

Traditions aren't only Christian. Get your facts straight before posting.

I know that. Here, where I live, some old Polytheist traditions were made into nonreligious Traditions. But many traditions ARE Christian. And that's why they suck.

Tradition, tradition! Tradition!

Tradition, tradition! Tradition!

Who, day and night, must scramble for a living,

Feed a wife and children, say his daily prayers?

And who has the right, as master of the house,

To have the final word at home?

The Papa, the Papa! Tradition!

The Papa, the Papa! Tradition!

Who must know the way to make a proper home,

A quiet home, a kosher home?

Who must raise the family and run the home,

So Papa's free to read the holy books?

The Mama, the Mama! Tradition!

The Mama, the Mama! Tradition!

At three, I started Hebrew school. At ten, I learned a trade.

I hear they've picked a bride for me. I hope she's pretty.

The son, the son! Tradition!

The son, the son! Tradition!

And who does Mama teach to mend and tend and fix,

Preparing me to marry whoever Papa picks?

The daughter, the daughter! Tradition!

The daughter, the daughter! Tradition!

Ignore Crabs until he posts something useful.

Considering that Fiddler on the Roof is all about the struggle between what people want to do and what Tradition demands' date=' I'm pretty sure it's far more useful than "We burn babies and virgins. :3" or "They are also Christan" or "Yeah me to. [/thread']" could ever be.

Granted, my skill at actually reading the opening post instead of just jumping down from the topic title could be improved...

Gee Icy you are just about the only non-selfish person I know' date=' and I know alot.

Eh... I have my selfish qualities. And some see it, some don't. But I am happy to do what people ask of me, especially my family and siblings. Even a random stranger, as long as they ask politely and I'm able to do it. I see no reason not to.

I concur with the bolded, the rest is just rubbish.

Traditions are just superstitions. They hold no real value, and are completely useless. Like a photograph, you take a picture because you think you will want to remember it down the road but really you take a photograph to prove to people that you have a reason to exist, have a reason to hold on to something that someone else wouldn't.

There is no reason to it, no rhyme. You please yourself, and hope that other people think your someone who needs to exist.

Oh, I'm sorry did you think I was talking to you JP, your quite wrong. Good day.

Every year my friend Robyn and I do these things. It's tradition for us:

~Go to the UCLA Book Festival

~Go to Anime-Expo

~She buys me an anime art book for the hell of it [this year I got GUREN: The Art of Ito Noizi]

And for other things:

~We decorate one of our Christian friend's tree since we are Jewish

~We celebrate Christmas with as many Jewish people as we can get [it's so much fun xD]

~We do everything we can on Christmas cause it's less crowded since people are at home with family =3

Traditions, while hindering do keep people together and bring a smile to the face of those who accept them. As I see this within my own family, as well as many of the other Local Families here.

Often, each generation of children adds a new tradition to the family household as well as the family as a whole. At the cost of another tradition maybe, but the Hierach (in this case is my Grandma and Nana/2 different people on 2 sides of the family) usually maintains a given Tradition until the time of their passing, and it stays assuming someone takes over the role.

Though this may be foreign or downright odd to many of you it's not wrong. Even though I am obligated to 2 sides of the family, I cannot and will not see it any other way. This methodology of obligation yet sincere behavior is what keeps the ties that bind. These binds, being much stronger that force or the "robotic" behaviors some of you may recommend.
