A non-religious topic which contains religion.

Ehh, I've been wanting to post this for awhile.

Note, I am not trolling. This is a true story.

Another note, no religious talk. A tolpic will be presented at the end. Religion is a speeding up of lockage.

I'll refer to my friend as "A".

LONG STORY HAS BEEN CONVERTED INTO SHORT STORY. SOME SENTENCED MAY ONLY BE FRAGMENTS.

A is atheist at Catholic School.

A has no friends at this school.

A doesn't care to listen to religion talks.

A asks questions about God's existance.

Note, A does not flame, nor is he disrespectful to people.

A gets sent to principal.

A tries to defend himself.

A gets suspended.

...

A year passes by.

A has to go to church.

A doesn't want to pray.

A refuses to pray.

Teachers sees; gets mad.

A tries to defend himself.

A is escorted out of school church.

A gets 1 week of detention.

Rumors are that a teacher (after A left), told all the kids that A was crazy and didn't know what he was talking about.

Since there is already a topic about bias in schools...

Discuss stupid punishments in school.

I forgot to say that A has like 5 good friends, one of them being me.

I think A has to learn to leave them damn religious people alone.

Because A wants to go to college.

@ Raelen: A is smart, and public school isn't challenging enough for him.

A's parents are Christian, which gives them more reason to send him to Catholic school.

A has told his parents he is atheist, and now he has to deal with pressure at home.

Gah' date=' I can't say what I want to say or I'll be warned for flaming. D:

I'll keep it simple, this is just another reason I dislike Catholics.

[/quote']

Again, I'm not sure that all the people in the school are generic Catholics.

But, at first glance, it looks obvious everyone hates him.

Religilous inb?

Cool story bro.

Go be an idiot somewhere else. ^__^

Let me break that down' date=' because I don't get it.

inb4 dark refers to himself as his friend who he refers to as A

What does that mean?

[/quote']

I believe he believes that you are A and are covering yourself with a "friend" named A but you are in fact A.

*confused*

Either you're dumber than I thought or you're trolling me.

dark = friend = A

dark = A

EDIT: Eurynome beat me to it.

I think A needs to talk more with his parents about not wanting to be involved with religion if he can. It may depress them, but if your friend really feels so strongly about it, he needs to take more of a stand. If he already has, I don't know what else he can do.

If A's parents refuse to be accepting and if A remains and atheist, he's going to have a hard time in school and at home.

One possibility is going to public school. (Even though, as you say, it is too easy for him.) Better to be a big fish in a little pond, and get good grades. Private school may be trickier, since quite a few of them are primarily Christian. It should also be pretty easy for A to refuse to go to church. His parents can't force him.

There is another possibility, but A seems pretty determined to be an atheist.

He is doing well in Catholic school. And he doesn't necessarily need friends. He is "popular" in that school, but in a bad way.

And we talk almost every day.

If A's parents refuse to be accepting and if A remains and atheist, he's going to have a hard time in school and at home.

That's pretty much his situation at the moment.

@ Doco: I've been called Satan's child before... by a teacher.

I don't know why I didn't go to the principal.

This is why I created a religion called Santism, all about how Santa Claus rises up from hell on December 25th to rid the world of a billion evil souls and give presents to children to deter them from the path of evil.

Yet even this is more believable than Christianity.

I don't go to a Catholic school' date=' therefore I cannot be A. :/

[/quote']

And how do we know you're not lying. It's POSSIBLE that you really go to a Catholic school but you say you don't.

Anyone can lie on the internet. But that's really the only argument you have at the moment.

Without giving personal information, I cannot technically prove I am not A.

So believe what you want, but comment about A's life, whether you think that is me or another person entirely.

A should have known better, having been raised in such a place.

A could have done much more, with what he had but chose to do the ignorant thing and fight a battle he would have lost no matter what happened.

Apples + Oranges

In a situation like the example, that would pretty much never happen, since Catholics are called to understand that other people don't believe in what they believe.

However...

In other schools there could be bias among teachers.

Do you know why?

Because everyone has bias, everyone leans towards one side or the other. Even if they don't, they will have some preference of a opinion over another. The only thing people can do about it, is to do the best the can to judge fairly.

Also, it depends on the language in which someone is protesting something. If you disagree with a teacher, even if you are disagreeing with something completely idiotic, you should be respectful about it, because on this site, when people disagree with their teachers, they often insult the teachers in some way. It should be done respectfully, and ALWAYS in kind tone, toward ALL.

If you attend a Catholic school' date=' you should participate in catholic rituals. If not, go to the much cheaper, non-religion biased(lol) public schools.

I'm afraid God and arrogance wins this battle, mate.

[/quote']

It's not his fault public schools have a less rigorous (sp?) curiculum (sp?).

There is nothing wrong with Religion. It is the manipulation of Religion that makes it bad.

Anyway' date=' I disapprove of A's actions. He was clearly in the wrong.

[/quote']

Essentially, you are saying that going to a Catholic school forces you to take part in Catholic rituals?

Is he not entitled to his own beliefs?

Again, he was not rude nor disrespectful when questioning God. So why be punished?

To create a parallel, that's like me saying I don't like your shirt because it's red, and the color red makes me cringe. I'm entitled to my own opinion, and you don't have to change your shirt. If you get angry about my comment, piss off. I wasn't rude when talking about your ugly shirt, was I?
