There is nothing wrong with Religion. It is the manipulation of Religion that makes it bad.

Anyway' date=' I disapprove of A's actions. He was clearly in the wrong.

[/quote']

Essentially, you are saying that going to a Catholic school forces you to take part in Catholic rituals?

Yes. Why? Because Catholic Schools are effective "Private" schools.

And second to teaching kids pornographic things, (ie: Directly illegal) they are perfectly within their rights to make it mandatory. In a way... Private Schools are a lot like a job. But when your job is also separate from State (in a catholic school), you do not have the legal choice. The only choice he had, was to outright leave.

Therefore, no matter how you look at it. He was the wrongdoer. Not them.

Now on a personal level it's a different story, but we're not here for that are we?

If you attend a Catholic school' date=' you should participate in catholic rituals. If not, go to the much cheaper, non-religion biased(lol) public schools.

I'm afraid God and arrogance wins this battle, mate.

It's not his fault public schools have a less rigorous (sp?) curiculum (sp?).

A should have known better' date=' having been raised in such a place.

A could have done much more, with what he had but chose to do the ignorant thing and fight a battle he would have lost no matter what happened.

Is he not entitled to his own beliefs?

Again, he was not rude nor disrespectful when questioning God. So why be punished?

To create a parallel, that's like me saying I don't like your shirt because it's red, and the color red makes me cringe. I'm entitled to my own opinion, and you don't have to change your shirt. If you get angry about my comment, piss off. I wasn't rude when talking about your ugly shirt, was I?

Are you at a "People who LOVE red shirts" convention when you say you don't like his red shirt?

He shouldn't have been disrespectful. I am pretty much a Buddhist, yet I would still pray to a Catholic God inside a Catholic Church, if I was asked to. Mainly because I have respect for other faiths, and going into a Holy Place and saying the equivalent of "Your view are wrong, I won't do it" is not only disrespectful, it's rude.

He easily could have left saying "I mean no disrespect, but I am in a crisis of faith."

Essentially, and tell me if I am wrong, when in a religious school, you are forced to follow that religion without question. Correct?

Doesn't matter where he was; he is still entitled to his own opinion.

Just like everyone else at that convention, they like red shirts. Again, opinion.

If they are going to get pissed over a single comment (granted, it was at the wrong place and wrong time), then they are arogant bastards.

Now, what does "arogant bastard" remind me of? I wonder...

So, its ok to be biased against religion, but not against, non-religion(lolwut)? I think its wrong to force someone to participate in your religious activities, but its also wrong to mock said religion.

If I was A and I was in a Church that practiced a different religion than mine, I would sit in the corner and wait for it to be over. If they tried to force me to participate, I would leave. If the didn't let me leave, I would be very pissed.

He didn't pray' date=' a teacher consulted him, he said he didn't want to pray, and punishment.

Yeah, that makes complete sense. Religious people aren't stupid at all. :/

[/quote']

So, because a couple of religious people act extremely rude, all religious people are stupid?

I was talking about the teacher (and her cohorts). Not religious people as a whole.

Because then I'd be targeting most of the world.

Well played, Dark. You managed to create a thread which discusses a topic, but uses a religion based example in your post, allowing for a small opening to expand that small bit of religion into a topic.

Alright' date=' I get what you mean then.

Hell, it's rumored they lied about how many people have AIDS to stop gay marriages/sex.

Keyword: RUMOR

Also, Christianity is entirely serious.

Some have different interpretations of it than others, and I see that this is yours. I cannot change that, however, sometimes an opinion is best not spoken, for the sake of others. Of course, you have said you are selfish, so I don't believe you would do that.

So, I am going to make an attempt that will probably have no effect whatsoever, and that is to ask you this: How would you feel if someone had said horrible, insulting things about athiesm, with proof and sensible logic to back it up. Would you think twice about deciding to make an insult towards others opinions, thoughts, and beliefs, after someone has taken a shot at your own?

Proof and sensible logic against atheism? While that's hard to believe, I'll imagine it.

Let's see... I won't give a shit. People are entitled to their own opinions. People have called me the Devil and Satan's child before. I didn't really care. They have their own opinions. And in my mind, I know they are probably stupid.

I've been learning from HORUS.

So, then, have you ever thought that your attempts at our thoughts are as futial as an attempt at yours? Have you ever thought that your goal, whatever it may be, I suppose to annoy us, is positively hopeless? That we feel the same way about your negative opinions at our beliefs, than you would at anyone's negative opinions toward yours?
