Infinitus
Hey' date=' hey. Icy, I understand you are officially, and clinically (Which I believe is the correct term) depressed. I believe that when someone starts a discussion of, and misinterprets (or you feel have misinterpreted) a condition that you have, it is highly offensive, regardless of intentions. However, Dark here (despite having a history of religion bashing) is being honest, and sincere about this. He isn't trying to offend or hurt you. He simply has different meanings of the word, which may or may not offend you. Please, Icy, I understand you are highly offended, but he is not trying to mock depression. I believe that depression is a little more of a serious term for what you are saying, Dark, but it is your opinion. Very little, am I sad or angry, and when I am it isn't for very long.[/quote'] *growls* Fine... Thank you. ^_^ Also' date=' you're just pulling crap out of your rear. Using such an excuse would be like saying... "When I say Pie, I mean a sort of cake that you bake with slightly different ingredients". It's not wrong, but it's far from right. It's still pie, and should not be called Cake.[/i'] That parallel isn't even close to what the situation is right now. If I went to someone (assuming a normal person) and showed them pie and cake, they'd be able to tell the difference. But if I went to someone and told them to define "extreme sadness" and "a clinical condition which involves extreme sadness" (or whatever definition 5 was), they'd give me the same answer. Some words can be taken more than one way, and I don't think you understand that. I am talking (in this thread) about minor depression, something I classify as sadness. Sure, depression is a more extreme term than sadness, but that's what this thread is about. Anyone can be sad. This is also correct. You are comparing 2 pastries to a word that can mean multiple things to different people. Apples and Oranges. I believe that depression may be a bit of a harsh word for a large amount of sadness, because I believe that if depression isn't clinical and official, it is sadness that can last for days. Things that could involve the following: Repetitive Negative outlooks on everythingLoss of will, causing laziness.Wish to be aloneFlammable Sadness (Sadness that can easily become anger.) I believe that is actually a stereotype. I could be wrong, though depressed people cutting themselves seems a little TOO extreme, and is talked about too often. I think that might actually be a stereotype. Am I wrong or right?(Psst, he thinks he's wrong.)
Dark
It's a generalization. Not all depressed people are emos, and not all emos are cutters. ANYWAYS... trying to get back on topic of minor depression, what are you compelled to do? Many people like eating when saddened.

I believe that often times, in the heat of the moment, when your painfull emotions are fresh from the oven, it's so hot that you either want to let it drop on your foot and burn it, or through the burnt stew in someone's face. I sit in my room, take it all out on myself, or sometimes feel angry towards someone else, but as I sit in my room, my emotions begin to evolve into stages, and I have a revelation. I then begin to feel better, and I learn something.
Willieh
ITT: Being depressed means just being down/sad. That definition outright sickens me. Kindly don't use such a definition for quite a serious condition. I think of depression in "stages"' date=' minor depression meaning sadness, while major depression actually becomes a condition. Others think differently, but I use "depressed" to explain myself many times.[/quote'] Well. Unlike a majority of people here, I actually suffer from depression in every sense of the proper word. Would you like to know my medical, BSP and Support Plan to handle it so you and others don't make a mockery of this word? Surprisingly enough, I would fall under this category. Papers and everything. ^ ^

Infinitus
Zero Chill, he is not trying to mock depression. I can understand that it must be pretty harsh to have everyone in your family have a serious condition, and when someone is to talk about that condition, whether the intentions be good or not, it can be quite offensive, but please, calm down, because Dark has no intention of mocking this condition. He simply has a different definition of the term, and means no offense. He has no intentions of mocking you, your family, or anyone that has this condition.
