To be entirely honest, I've never seen the harm with any word as such, more the emotion behind the word. I have a black friend (not African American, admittedly, as I live in Britain) named Timothy, and I regularly call him "jabroni" is a joking term of endearment, much like he calls me "douchebag". Obviously, we aren't insulting each other, because the words aren't meant in harm, they're affectionate terms. On the other hand, if somebody called him "jabroni" obviously meaning to be racist, he'd take great offense, much like I'd take great offense if somebody called me douchebag in all seriousness.

tl;dr: words are only as bad as the speaker makes them

I didn't realize Dr. King's dream was only meant to last for years, and then suddenly fade away. Thanks for enlightening me.

No. I was referring to the word "jabroni." Dr. King's dream came true (for the most part). Other races are accepted as equal members of society. His dream had nothing to do with slang (which I'd like to point out is mostly used by the black community).

Describe most. Because other than "rappers" and the teens who you probably see in your neighborhood, I doubt it.

By "Most" I mean just about every young black person who isn't rich. Which is definitely most.

So now most of the African American community is poor? I'm confused as hell.

If you think that most of the African American community isn't poor, you don't know anything about you're own heritage.

And I'm not saying it's their fault because they're lazy or something, it's just true. A majority of blacks are in poverty.

If you think that any more than 50% of the African American community is poor, something's wrong. I won't deny that a large number of blacks are poor, but there are also large numbers of blacks that are successful and/or rich.

That goes for Caucasians and Mexicans too.

Prove to me the opposite. A concensus (I think that's the word?) would probably do that right?

Ah wait, you have to consider Africa as a large part of the black community too right? I was referring moreover to blacks in the states. >.>

I'd say that's quite a large number.

I thought you meant today only' date=' but I miscalculated. That's not most, it's just a little less than half, but I suppose you would base that on opinion right?

I see most as a percentage of 51% plus. v.v

Copmared to other ethnicities, that's a pretty disturbing statistic. It's also nice to note that poverty are pretty strict standards according to the government. In reality, lower middle class living conditions are harder than you would think.
